I just received one of the phone calls at work from the 1-800-290-1065 phone number.  A man identifying himself as Bob Buckles left a very threatening message for me and said that if he did not hear from me by the end of the day he would call my supervisor and tell him what it is he wants with me. First of all,  it is illegal to call my job threatening me. Finally, we paid that loan twice over, maybe the people working in the office was taking advantage of the company and they are trying to do the same to us. I do not scare easily. I always say IT is what it is!

Consumers across the country report that they're getting telephone calls from people trying to collect on loans the consumers never received or on loans they did receive but for amounts they do not owe. Others are receiving calls from people seeking to recover on loans consumers received but where the creditors never authorized the callers to collect for them. So what's the story?

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

I got the very same message here at work, a message stating to call Ms Reynolds- this is my work place, and if I did owe them, they are jeopardizing my job.

I just received a call from this 1-800 # looking for someone I've never heard of but what was really weird about the call is the man addressed me by my first name when I answered.  Then he asked for the person he was calling about.  I told him I didn't know this person which is true.  He asked again if she lived there and I said no.  End of call.  I ended up googling the 1-800-290-1065 number and came across all of this.  It really bothers me that this man knew my first name when he was looking for someone I've never heard of.  I didn't get any info from him because I thought it was a misdial or something like that....   but again, he knew my first name.  hmmm?
After reading all of these entries, I have a feeling I'll be hearing from them again.

this company left a message on my phone asking me to pay some bull crab loan!!!!!! this message about a check bouncing i called back and guess what it was for somebody else. but this sucker left alot of information that is private on my phone!!!!! yhey say they are calling from thr FBI investigations i wonder if they know that talking all this bull and useing false federal identity some one will file a lawsuit.the only thing one person has to do call the FBI and say they are pretending to be one of them wow its a shame how low they can go harrassing massages just to get a commission buck after they collect. i have pay in the past to collections agencys but never heard any shanaregon's like this be careful you all when they call or if mr.william field calls just let them have it put your guards up and dont take any shanaregon's we all have rights!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just received a call from a very nasal sounding woman named "Karen".  Said they asked me to call them to get fax number so they could send me paperwork but I didn't respond.  Since I didn't call them she was going to call another number and get fax.  Acted like she had a number where she could get it.

Didn't identify company, no account information....nothing.  Going to file complaint.

This is NOT a collections company for Check and Go.  Check and Go has been notified and pursuing legal action against them.

Mr. William Fields, Ms. Reynolds and Mr. Jeffery Drake (stating he is an attorney and working on behalf of Check N Go), have all contacted me and my employment.  Both the local PD and work police have been contacted and investigating.  As well as my private attorney.  It has been reported that this is a scam and they are currently under fraud investigation.  I have recorded messages in which they state that I owe a payday loan to a bounce check-both of which are false.  In addition, they become very vulgar on the phone-they threaten law suits and ask for money.

Any detail information would be helpful, I believe there are several law suits pending under the name Jamie Beltstad.

PDL does business illegally, they are not bonded and not insured.  They claim to be debt collectors for Check and Go, but Check and Go is currently pressing charges.  Don't let Mr. Jeffery Drake, Bobby Buckles, Bobby Buckley, William Fields, or any other name this person uses scare you.  They target those who are uneducated with debt procedures.  Do NOT let them fool you!

PDL has nothing to do with Check and Go, call Check and Go..they are currently suing PDL for fruadlent accounts and illegal collections!!!  PDL is a scam!!

PDL is a scam-they take money from innocent people thinking they are in default of a loan these scum bags make up!!

PDL Recovery or whatever is a scam.  They cannot garnish wages.  They use threatening tatics to scare those into paying something that has not existed.  Don't listen to them.  Call the police!  A Lawyer!!  the company they claim they are collecting the debt for, do not believe them-it's a hoax.  and do not give them any funding or way to collect funds on your behalf.

What became of this=RB?  I'm having the same issues.  They think they can out-smart my attorney.

no Jo Jo, this is not a check and go collections ...check and go -as other payday loans, have their own in house collections department.  Don't be fooled by liars and cunning people.  If they say they represent a company-call the company and find out.  Check and Go is currently suing this PDL services-they are fraudulent people..

Jeffrey Drake keeps calling.   I really think I have been scamed.  Keeps reducing amounts of payments no company keeps doing that.   Going to call the police and report them.

They just called me and when I input the number, I'm directed here. I couldn't understand too much of what the guy said, but he did say what I thought was "PTL", now know it's "PDL." He tried to mke it sound as if he was representing law enforcement. Okay! Because they ALWAYS call first before they come and get you, right? What an idiot!

i received a call from a Bobby Buxley at my work regarding a pay day loan that I owe for. Its a legit debt but they re not the collections agency who has the account and i have told them that they are not because i have contacted the agency that does. He keeps trying to tell me that the other company is just a processing company for them and that i need to make the payment arrangements with them. he has calle me previously and I have asked him not to call my work but he keeps calling. What he doesnt know is that all of our calls are recorded so they have our talks on file. I have filed  complaint and also turned his info over to my attorney for her to contact them further.

I just received a call from the same person!  William Fields.  Also regarding a check I wrote.  I just contacted the bank and I don't have any bounced or outstanding checks (mostly I use bank checks).  
What disturbs me is they called me on my work phone number....how the heck did they get that?
