Check them out at this link, not a very highly rated charity.

According to this article, less than 1 penny of each dollar donated goes to help cancer patients.

    Very rude and very persistent.

This is a link to file a complaint with the FCC.  You can do it in a couple of minutes online.  If enough people complain, maybe something will happen.

I got a call from them this morning @ 9:07. Bad time for me since I have fresh sutures from two dermal biopsies on my face. I checked out their website, (http://www.cancersupportservices.net/ ) but I'm still not convinced that they are legit. They do make the comment on their 'About Us' page that all donations are tax deductible under IRS 501(c)(3) Code.
Does anybody know if there is a better way to see if this organization is actually a 501(c)(3)?

    Oncologist
This guy called me from 1-800-390-4812. He sounded lucrative, but nothing indicating his professionalism. He claimed that his organization is collecting money for the cancer patients. It happened that I am a board certified Oncologist! and obviously I know about this type of organizations. When I asked if he is familiar with ASCO, he panicked and hung up! He must have hit the wrong button!! Don't give them even a penny.

    Go to this link

    http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3416

I've tried to stop them from calling me as well.  They are an unethical organization taking advantage of good people trying to help cancer patients. This unscrupulous organization's  President, James Reynolds Sr.makes 186k a year and the VP, James Reynolds Jr. (surprise! Reynolds' Seniors' son) makes 114k a year.  Go to the link and you can see just how little of the money they collect actually goes to cancer patients.  Please give, but check with the Better Business Bureau first.

If everyone would call 800-390-4812 and at the end of their recording you have an option to send a recorded message to them. Everybody sould send them a long message (radio or television) and we can fill up their answering machine.

Non profit organizations do not have to abide by the Do Not Call list but, when they call, ask them to remove your name from their list and they should do it without squabbling... if they give you a hard time, tell them you are reporting them because you asked to be removed and they wouldn't do it without giving you a hard time.

These "so called charity organizations" keep 80% of funds collected for administrative costs and forward 20% to the charity.  Not bad wages bugging the unknowing for their money on a sympathy speech.  Give to your local known charity.  Don't answer these calls, let your answering machine pick it up.  Or if you are tired and pissed off, ask to speak to the callers supervisor and let off some steam, ask what percent goes to the charity.

I've taken to UNplugging my phone (hardwired), use Cell for emergency calls!

I have a BellSouth Call Waiting ID System to monitor the line, No Rings, just a flashing red lite=records data..To use the hardwired phone, just plug it in!-)  A defensive move to void annoyance.  Too bad that I have to resort to this limited use of a phone I PAY for~

Yes, it was some generic cancer org that stated they help patients directly.  Which of course is a great cause,  but I never heard of them.  They wanted to send me a packet to donate money.

Two calls from this number within 24 hours. I don't even bother answering the phone when I see an 800 number on the caller ID any more.
