- MikeMultiple calls, either no one on the line or someone who refuses to identify themselves. Some people's children.
- Caller: Won't identify
- Call type: Prank
- Rabbi RickThis is a scam. VERY little of their funraising goes to cancer anything. Want to support a worthy organisation? City of Hope.

- Call type: Telemarketer
- lone stranger replies to snowbirdBefore donating to any charity, check them out on CharityNavigator.org . Even some "legitimate" charities are not responsible with your money. As a general rule, reputable charities will not cold call you on the telephone. If you think you want to give, ask them for the exact name of the charity, the address, and a number where you can call them back. Tell them that you are going to look them up on Charity Navigator, and that if they are responsible in their spending you will call them back to make a donation.
If they try to talk you out of doing that, or if they are not forthcoming with information, you can be sure it is a scam. Do not let them guilt trip you or bully you into making a donation before you are sure of the facts. After all, don't you want that money to go to a real charity? Stand your ground, and get the facts before you give. Charity Navigator makes that very easy to do. - BobI get three or four calls a day, never anyone on the other end of the line.....just total silence!!!!!

- LaureThey keep calling, then hang up when our voicemail picks up. We tried to call them back to ask that they take our number off their lists, but the number is "no longer in service!" We're reported them to the DNC twice already. Next time they call, we'll also file a complaint with the FCC.
- Caller: Caller ID: Unavailable"

- Caller: ?
- Janet ReddGet calls from this number and they don't leave a message
- Cathy replies to CarolSI just got a call also.
As for the way to handle them -- either use a phone that includes an answering machine or purchase one - put a message on it that says:
WE SCREEN ALL CALLS.
WE MAKE NO DONATIONS OVER THE PHONE FOR ANY REASON.
PLEASE LEAVE YOUR NAME, NUMBER AND SHORT MESSAGE AT THE BEEP.
Set your phone rings to 2 so that you catch it early but still can see who it is from (like a friend) plus this will catch all computer generated calls. This way the phone only rings twice, if you are near you can get it before it cuts off, if you are not you don't have to jump and run to only find a telemarketer on the line. This will also cut the number of phones calls from these scammers as they find that they can't get to you. My phone calls have dropped greatly, my junk mail has increased but I have a big file #13.
If you have a cell phone - leave it turned off unless you are using it. I never give out my cell phone number
except to trusted friends and family, no businesses, ever. If you are one of the ones who has gone to cell phone use only, you will just have to live with it. - seeknthekingdom7| 1 replyI got a call free this same number and the lady called me by my first. I then ask who was calling she said "Cancer Society", I then ask if I could take a message she said "no" and hung up. I tried calling the number back and the recording says "the number is no longer in service or the number has been disconnected". Can someone tell me how the hell that can happen within minutes of them calling me and on a Saturday at that. I truly believe my line is being monitored.
- Caller: UNKNOWN/CANCER SOCIETY
- AKStop Calling
- Caller: Cancer fund
- Call type: Non-profit organization
- samieThey say they are for hospice/cancer care..i tell them i am not interested in it at this time, and while i am being very cordial and telling them this..they hang up...if it was truly a cancer care site, they would have listened to me and nNOT BE SO RUDE AS TO HANG UP IN THE MIDDLE OF ME TALKING!!!!
- samie replies to seeknthekingdom7your line is not being monitored---so stop feeling PARANOID.. The call came to me to..read my reply on the list. The number does say it was disconnected...when these calls come in, i try to be polite and then play up to them..there is a you-tube video about these solicitors where 1 guy repeatedly replies yes to all the ?'s..it really is very funny and amusing..check it out...
- emtmom replies to BlueToshI have done work for the American Cancer Society for many years now and they do NOT call from an 800 number to ask for funds--PLEASE, if you get a call from these people DO NOT donate. Don't be a blessing to this scam.
