- CPTA replies to DominiqueI called the number on the back of my card. It is from BOA card Fraud office. I still agree with many of the posts here and call the number on the back of your card. The fraud dept notes your account and the representative you do reach will transfer you.

- mike m replies to ChrisYour right ! this is a scam. I called up and they asked me for my 16 digit card number. no legit company would ask for that info.....SCAM
- regguyThis was a legit BofA number, though I hung up and called the number on the back of the card. The woman I then spoke with verified it was a legitimate number.

- getthefactsstraight replies to MizDizzyMizzyyou are way to harsh, be thankful that BOA is very vigilant at keeping you protected. yes it is annoying to have the card placed on temp hold to do a fraud check but it is better than other financial institutions that don't care at all to go the extra mile. JFYI when you get this incoming call, call your card via the number on your invoice to MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE you are talking to your card service rep. They will help and take care of you and the hold will be removed when answering a few of their questions. I have had BOA over 20 years and they have been absolutely awesome (albeit annoyingly protective for my on good)!
- payattentionif you have a credit card owned by bank of america and this number calls you, let it goto voice mail. get your invoice and CALL THE TOLL FREE NUMBER ON YOUR BILLING INVOICE to talk to them directly, never dial the umbers/codes given on that message. scammers will do ANYTHING including recording your voice to use for fraudulent purposes.
- Caller: BANK OF AMERICA
- Call type: Event reminder
- Fraud Investigator replies to martiniloverI work for a real fraud unit at a bank. No "company" will handle activity for different card issuers. There are federal regulations that will not allow it. This is a scam utilized to gain, little pieces of information on you, until they form a bigger picture to scam you. Provide no Info. and ONLY call the number on the back of your card.

- c replies to AmalI just received the same call saying there was something wrong with our bank account and there was suspicious activity. When I called the bank of america they said they would not call and ask for information and it was fraud.
- jimthis is a legitimate call from bank of america. my wife had her card declined at a store and called me about it. 7 minutes later this number called me the caller id read card srvc only. they asked for me by name and did not ask for my card number they stated they were from the fraud department and were inquiring about an attempted charge to my card. i informed her that my wife had just called me complaining that the card was denied. they told me where the charge was attempted; which was correct they then apologized for the card being declined. their reason was that the purchase was not part of our normal spending pattern and the computer flagged it as possible fraud. i am not happy that my wife was inconvenienced; but this is a legitimate number at least for today. some scammer may try and spoof the number tomorrow.

CALL THE NUMBER ON YOUR BANK STATEMENT - CalosTotally legit
- JF| 1 replyI called them after getting a text alerting me to some curious transactions. Number was in the text. Bank of America Fraud line. It's legit. Got uncomfortable myself handing out card and personal info. They are good with if you get uncomfortable with it, they have alternate means to perform verification.
- MikeHuntletonKeep in mind, just because a number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!
Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.
If it is a legitimate call, then anyone receiving a call would know WHY they got a call from this number, right?
So what would be a reason to come and post about it to a site designed to share information about UNKNOWN callers, such as Telemarketers, Scammers and Debt Collectors?
If your call was legit, telling about it won't be any comfort to those who may get a spoofed call from some scammer! - BigA replies to JFIf you didn't call the number on the back of the card then you simply don't know who you talked to. I doubt B of A is texting people about important things such as card transactions.
