Got a call today from this number. I have read some comments posted here, and it's hilarious that there are some trying to justify having us set up our accounts to put money into it.

My private unlisted office number received a collect call claiming to be from an inmate in the local jail in this area. I could not hear or understand who the inmate was and I don't know anyone in jail so I am blocking these numbers on my company phone system!

Though this company is legit, there is a scam associated with it, verified by my local state police, so if you don't know someone incarcerated then don't setup an account and add money. Even if you do know an inmate make sure its legitimate beofrehand.

Last night, I got a collect call from some random person in Maricopa County jail on my cell phone. Obviously, because it is my cell phone, the call could not be completed. Later today, I got a call from 800-483-8313 telling me that someone from jail tried to call me but couldn't reach me due to restrictions on my line. They wanted me to press an option to put money in someones account or some such thing. I do not know anyone who is in jail so I am not sure if this number is legit or not. In any case, I added this to my spam call list and blocked it. Meh.

First got a call from supposedly from Spokane WA jail that was a 1 minute free call. Thought it was legit, told the person they had the wrong number as I don't know anyone in jail. One hour later a silent call from this number, hung up, came here. Okay... I didn't give them any information, but I'm still creeped out. 509-381-7486 was the Spokane Jail call #.

Answered the phone, but no one there. I guess they are farming for phone numbers that get answered. Probably  a SCAM.

Got a call from this number and it's a correctional facility.  I don't know anybody in jail!  Suspect it's a scam or some sort of phishing attempt.

People are idiots they think everything is a scam. It is the company that handles calls from jail. They are asking for your inf because the person in jail calling is on hold praying you will agree to pay $1.75 for a 15 min call. If you get this call. Please find the heart to pay and take the call. It is the only way they have to reach anyone. It could be an emergency!

Yeah, but its not the "company" who is trying to talk to you now is it? Jails are filled with criminals, so it is only natural to assume it might be a scammer calling. Those systems bill your phone service provider if you "accept the charges", not request Credit Card info. That is done from a different process to allow you to put money on the inmate's "account".

Those systems are designed to allow the person to give their name and the automated system tells the call recipient who is calling, so if you don't know who it is, why pay "just to talk" to them?

Who would have an emergency in jail that would be calling some random person and use the inmate call system? Your not making sense!

It has to be a scam. I have had the same phone number since 2005 and do not know anyone in jail. Last night I got a spam call from someone in jail and not this number calling.

I do not know anyone in prison nor have I ever set up an account with this company. So who in prison would be trying to call me? Someone trying to scam me out of money. The message I received didn't give the name of their company just a phone number.

I received calls from this number, but I don't have any friends or relatives in jail.  Therefore, it sounds like a scam to me.
