Came up as potential spam on phone so didn’t answer. Looked up number here and said from prison/jail.  Interesting, in that about an hour ago I got a call from different number which was also jail/prison in TN. Don’t know anyone in jail/prison.

Did not know who it was from.
Do not want any more calls from this number.
Not interested speaking w/anyone in jail.

It's probably an inmate calling to scam you.

Have received calls from said number,  not familiar number so not answered, appears as scam.

Don’t know anyone in a place like this! I believe this number has been spoofed by scammers to sucker someone into thinking a loved one is on the inside!! Also how you know it’s suspect, I have had people tell me you get a name of the one trying to call you during the message!! This doesn’t give a name of “who” is calling!!

An emergency in a place like that is handled by the guards!! There is no one I know in a place like that!! Also, to up and randomly call a number you never called before is also suspicious!! Only idiots will believe what you are trying to say because this IS A SCAM!!! As I have found out, when someone inside calls you, there name is given at the beginning of the message!!

Well, the one thing that we do know for sure is that a criminal is making the call!  :)

Yes it's a scam, it's a way for inmates to use & bill your  ph. #. I work for the Phone Co. DON'T CALL BACK.

I agree with you 100%! I am tired of getting different numbers from jail. How in the hell are they getting my number???  Aggravating-especially at 407 and 423 in the am. Not happy!

Since Oct 9th i habe been getting calls from this number (800)483- 8314 eveyday and sometines twice a day and it says everything yall are saying but i do have a relative incarcerated but i dont know if  its him  or where its location is but my number has changed and i know he does  not have the new number but one person that knows he is in there and that person has my number so if this person gave it to the relative of  mine its him but if this person did not give it i  know it was not him so ill find out today i also dont like giving my info out.

Voicemail from this number identifying as GTL (sounded like they said GTO). The message said I had calls from an offender at a correctional facility and my telephone provider was unable to bill for this call. The message directed me to call (877) 650-4249 to arrange for billing. It was a first for me, but I can see here this same number has been used for this "jail jingle" scam for years.

This is set up thru the jail. When my friend called me from jail, this was the only way to accept call was thru this recorded option by entering your credit card info. You would think it was legit being affiliated with the jail..
(Naive much) They charged $17.00 for 18 minutes. After reading theses comments I'm petrified they might withdraw money for no reason!  The next day they called and I did not & will not answer.

Robocall from a jail wanting me to accept a collect call. I hung up immediately as this is some criminal trying to pull off a scam from inside. Hope their sentence gets extended as they are pond scum.
