- JW.orgThis is an unwanted call from someone I do not know.
- starwatcherReceived a call from this number it was about a company unknown to me and policy? setting up recurrenting payment.
- Wally replies to Neal Kaye| 2 repliesNo, not an idiot. Just someone who made a mistake and spent some time in jail. The real idiot is whoever gave YOUR number to the convict trying to call you. They money put on the account is used for the phone system only so it's not like they can buy drugs with it or put it on their books or anything like that. Ignore it if you don't know anyone in jail, and perhaps try to grow up a little. No need for name calling, unless you're one of those people who gets off on putting people down on the internet instead of in person because you have your own issues to deal with. Have a great day.
- VideoGamePlayerI got a call from this number today. I did not answer it. Earlier today, my brother who is in corrections at the moment, had 5 minutes to give me the information telling me his facility will be changing over from Securus to global Tel link at offenderconnect.com.
I waited first to hear from my brother before I decide to change over from Securus to global tell link (url above). He had another guy in there with him who gave a message to HIS son with my number to give me information. It was legit. I spoke with his son. He just gave me information and was very polite about it.
I wouldn't have answered if right after that earlier call came in I didn't get a voice mail with my brothers voice and name on it. So, the number 8004838314 is from Global Tel Link asking me to setup an account. I'll do that of course, first check them out.
So it shouldn't be a scam.- Caller: Global Tel Link
- Bob KGot a call from the same number from global tel link. It's always same recording. The number that called me this time is 800-483-8314. But I got another one earlier from a Houston TX number (713) 981-0098 with the same exact recording. I know nobody in Texas or SC, or anyone in jail period. You people may not think it's a scam but really think about it. Random inmates that don't know you, or you them. They ask for money. Come on now.

- anon replies to Adrianna| 1 replyYou protest too much. It's a scam when you keep getting calls from people you DON'T know, in states you have no relatives in.
- Dude replies to AdriannaYes. If he hasn't already tried calling you back already.

- Don PearyawnIt's Bernie Madoff, you idiots. He just wants to chat about your portfolio.
- dspanz| 2 repliesI got 5 calls from this number (the first one at 4:56am) and one more from 800-483-8314. With the first call, the recording said the call was from "Teresa, who is an inmate at the Weber County Correctional Facility" and if I pressed "1" it was free to receive and it could last for 1 minute. I pressed 1 and when the person asked for "JD" I let them know they had the wrong phone number. They said they were sorry and hung up, but they didn't seem to understand the words "wrong number" because they called again 5 more times. The second time (about 13 minutes after the first time) I answered the phone again, a bit peeved and hoping to tell the irritating idiot to stop calling, but after the first time it is answered, their system wants an account set up so I was not able to talk to a person and let them know how angry I was at having them call again that early in the morning; I hung up. After about 15 minutes, the number called again, so after rejecting it I put it into my phone's reject list so it would not ring the phone again. That does help a tiny bit, but even though the phone does not ring for the call, it does give me a notification sound after the caller leaves a message. I wish Verizon or the Android programmer who wrote that phone software would acknowledge the seemingly easy-to-understand fact that if I put a number on my "Reject List" it should in fact reject it and not just keep it from ringing the phone. After receiving a few more calls, I searched and found "www.gtl.net" and "OffenderConnect.com" and after calling a couple of numbers, got Customer Service at (877)650-4249 and press "3" and then hit "0" a couple of times because the phone computer does not give a proper option for complaints. I talked to a person who put my number on their blocked list and said it might take a couple of days to get into the database but I should not get any more calls after that. We will see...

- dspanz replies to dspanzI should add that I did also call the Weber County Correctional Facility in Ogden, UT and they do have a call log so they were able to figure out the person named Teresa was calling the wrong area code "801" instead of "435", both are valid area codes for Utah, but they had the 435 number written somewhere else for that person so I am pretty sure this was not an attempted scam this time. But the officer was nice enough to add my number to their own outgoing blocked list, so I should receive no more calls from out of their facility.
- casey replies to Adrianna| 1 replyHey can you tell me what county jail he's calling from be case my husband is in Solano county jail and the number starts with 713 but last few days I've been getting calls from a 800 number please help me figure this out
- mtThe call is on the up and up. My nephew keeps calling me with this number. In the past I have accepted the call with a credit card and he came on the line.
- ColdI got called by this number three times at first under the number it said Texas but after that it was unknown. It's probably just an inmate trying to have a conversation. I'd probably do the same thing.
- HateSpamYes, this IS A SCAM. Received TWO call like this today from different numbers both the prison collect call garbage.
- Shellyh68 replies to DR.D| 2 repliesSir, you are misinformed, it is not a scam. And yes you can call anyone you want collect from jail. However, if the person is transferred to prison they can not make collect calls. You have to set up an account and put money on it, for cell phones OR land lines, there are several different companies that do this. and this is one of them. It is for calls from PRISON, not calls from jail. If you don't know anyone in PRISON, most likely your number happens to be very close to whoever they meant to call. You don't exactly get to take your phonebook with you. If they are calling a lot...I suggest you get call control, it won't allow any calls from jail, prison or anything similar. and you can block anyone.
- Shellyh68 replies to CindyCindy, ignore them, they obviously are just bored and want to argue. Hopefully people will read past the nastiness and get the info they need. I guess the ones picking the fights are unbelievably perfect in every way and never made a mistake of any kind and certainly has never accidentally remembered a number incorrectly!
