Further to my comment from earlier today: There apparently is a legitimate business called JP Recovery Services in Rocky River (near Cleveland), Ohio. Its website's contact page (http://jprecovery.com/contact/) lists a completely different toll free number than 800-517-9304. Also, they seem to pass muster with the BBB (http://www.bbb.org/cleveland/business-reviews ... er-oh-17003037/). This outfit calling from 800-517-9304 could be an impostor.

I wouldn't call them legitimate.  Not with all the FDCPA violations they have.  Also realize the the BBB rating is based on how much they pay them (200 employees means big bucks for the BBB)

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

    Please go away
This company is intentionally rude on the phone. They will try to make you mad with their insults and hostility.  They use the phone as a way to harass you.

If you accidentally pick up a call from them, just put them on hold and leave them there until they hangup.  Or, press and hold the mute button on your phone and enjoy listening to them bleet "hellow" "hellow" "hellow"

Talking to them accomplishes nothing for you, so don't allow that.

keep calling from multiple numbers, multiple times a week. Automated message is left each time. Called them back once to find out who they were and what they wanted (JP recover services for a medical bill, they said) asked for my name and phone number, i would not give it to them. they hung up.

Today, they called again from a different number, I called them back, then they had an automated system that verified my phone and wanted my last four of my SS# to further verify. I just hit the # key and they connected me with someone, They kept asking for my name but I wouldnt give it to them, if they have my number they should be able to tell me what bill or from where, they refused citing privacy laws.

Well unless you can give me something to go on, good luck with that [***]. My credit report is clean and has been for YEARS.

Plus, I havent been to the doctor in a very long time (which was covered by my insurance), and definitely not in Ohio which most of the people on this thread say they are calling from. I say call them back, give them nothing, b/c that what they are giving you. Then block the  number.

Called, I picked up thinking it was a work call or other # I needed to pick up. They waited about 5 seconds, mispronounced my name (which is a really easy one to pronounce correctly), and then asked me to verify my address before stating who they were. I just said "no" and hung up.

Got a call from them on my landline last night - they are JP Recovery Services (http://jprecovery.com/), a medical collections agency. After several nosy questions (which I did not answer) I hung up on them.

Got another call from them on my home landline yesterday (see my prior posts). I've fired off an E-mail to them (JP Recovery Services, a medical collections agency based in Rocky River, OH) indicating this has been going on.

with e mail is that they will simply say they never received it. Sending it certified, return receipt through the mail like the law requires, though, not easy to say you didn't get something you signed for. Making reports to the proper agencies as well such as the CFPB and your state attorney general helps as well.

500-517-9403 has been calling me for months now. Sometimes they leave messages and sometimes they don't. It's always a man and he insists he is a "debt collector"  and needs me to verify my identity by giving my social security number-  and when I said no, he said he couldn't continue to talk to me and hung up. It's a scam.  So who want to scam them ?!??? Haha

Got yet another call from them last night; tried the number again, was put on call-waiting for a minute or so then a receptionist came on. I asked if she was aware that people claiming to be with JP Recovery Services have been contacting me on this number which is not given on their website at all and she confirmed 'yes, it is one of the numbers we call from' and asked for the last four digits of my SSAN, at which point I promptly hung up.

This appears to be a bit more sophisticated operation than one's everyday robocallers - as of today I have still never been informed in writing of any debt which they may be servicing, so I will continue to treat them as as phony as a three-dollar bill.
