- Pat| 2 repliesGot a call from Mrs. Reed at this number leaving a message regarding an important personal business matter. Called the number back and they wanted my Macy's card number entered. I then hung up! The caller ID number was 513-573-8739.
- JCI got a call from a 727 area code that said they needed to speak to me for an important business matter. THen they gave me the 1-800-545-1256 to call back. When I called the number, it was a Macy's voicemail that asked for my account. I hung up and called Macy's through a phonenumber I have in my Macy's card... and they have verified that the number is a Macy's branch... it's their collections branch. they called because I was late with my payment.
- Caller: Macy's
- Call type: Debt collector
- winomel215-545-1256 This is a phishing expedition asking for my Macy's #
- TT| 1 replyI believe this is not a legitimate number as the caller left his first name and it immediately asked for my Macy's #. The call was re-routed to India and when I called the local number he said he was with SCL technologies and they work with Macy's and Bloomingdales. He said his name was Oscar Cohen - obviously not an Indian name.
- Caller: SCL Technologies for Macys
- Macy's Customer Service Experience| 1 replyIf it wasn't for those of you writing and making mention of Macy's, I was already in the process of reporting "a possible attempt to Fraud"
I've received repeated calls at various hours, and over several days from FACS 1-727-556-5772 which displayed on my caller id, but no message was left. Finally an automated message was left asking me to "call 1-800-549-1256 about a person issue", and no mention of the company that I was to return the call to. I called the number, and there was no identification about who I was calling, and an automated message immediately asked for me to enter my 9 digit Social Security Number. So I hung up.
I got on the Internet and entered the number 1-800-545-1256 which is where I found numerous people writing in concern about this number, and their experience, and I connected the dots to Macy's. I contacted Macy's customer service at 1-800-549-6229 asking to report fraud or possible fraudulent activity and I was given the Fraud department number 1-800-884-9168 which is only available 8:00 - 17:00 Central Standard Time and the recording said that they were closed due to the Holidays, then the line disconnects.
I call back to Customer Service, and I'm given 1-800-281-0820 which then rings, and rings, and rings.... after 25 + rings a recording says "your party is not answering, please try later, "recording 53....640"
As for Macys Credit Customer Service number - The VRU will not let you proceed until you enter your social security #. You must repeat several times "anything, blah, blah, blah,", press #, 0, anything" numerous times before your are transferred to an agent.
Lastly, 1-727-556-5772 called again tonight and I answered.... it was a company that Macy's contracts to call people about their delinquent accounts. After all this...... My account is past due, the due date was 12/13/07 for $17.00. Geeze, my Mother didn't even ride me this much when I forgot to return my library book on time.
Perhaps my situation was a little more convoluted because I asked to report the incident, and report the poor business practice within Macy's. May your experience not be so painful.
The upside to all of this.... I never gave my Social Security number, and the 727 number is affiliated with Macy's Collection department.
I'll be paying and closing my Macy's account in person, not on the phone or on the Internet. Unfortunately, I'll miss those discounts as a card member but I'd rather pay more, than worry about the day when my Macy's card is lost or stolen, or I need to report fraudulent activity.
Happy Holidays!- Call type: Debt collector
- KMy parents have been receiving calls from FACS each night at the same time...right in the middle of dinner! I answered once because I finally got irritated enough to do so and they simply asked for my mother and asked her to call 1-800-545-1256. The person was also not from this country as I could barely understand him. I told my mom and she says that her Macy's card has been paid off for months, so I'm not sure if this is a scam or not. But it's annoying either way! I can't believe these companies harass people like this for $17! It's a great way to lose business for sure.
- angie replies to PatI just got a call from 1-800-545-1256 Miss Savanah who asked for my husband then my daughter. said it was a personal business matter. I told her we were on the "no solicatation" list and she said this wasn't a solicitation.
- DaughterGot a call from a man w/ a heavy accent by the name of Dan Wood. He asked for my mother; she hasn't worked at this office since 1987; so it is very unlikely that it is a valid call. Dan Wood left a call back number 800-545-1256.
- patti94523| 1 replyMr. Brandon Seeval called and left a message to call 1-800-545-1256. Since I'm not good with due dates, I doubt this is a possible scam, but more probably an overdue payment on Macy's credit card. I'll just pay what's due online and hopefully that will stop further calls, scam or legit!

- Ktyna82 replies to dt| 1 replyJust to let you know... usually anytime someone leaves a message with "personal business matter" it's a debt collection agency.

- jennhave no idea who this "ms. williams" is, but when asked why she was calling said "a personal business matter." i was late on my macy's payment.. but in all honesty have been late in the past and was NEVER called. the number they left for a return call was 1-800-545-1256. another site says that someone from this number was asking for a payment on a card with no balance.
bad business for sure... - paininass| 2 repliesI got a phone call (showing ID: 513-754-9822)telling me that my macy's account is overdue and if I paied the bill over phone she would cancle my late fee. I told her I need to verify her ID. She said sure, and tell me to call her back at 1-800-545-1256 at ext. 38595. I called the number I found on Macys.com to verify this number, TWICE, they said it is a validate number of Macy's, but they can not verify name of the lady called. I was about to call back when I see those comments here. Don't know what to do yet.

- MattThe company HCL Tech. in India does indeed work for Macy's - that is not to say they have their act together. I had a Macy's account a number of years ago - it was closed in good standing. Every morning I have gotten a phone call from HCL Tech (in India) from 513-573-8028. I have repeatedly spoken to them to take me off of their list using that number and 800-884-9168 and 800-545-1256. It was no use and no useful information was obtained. Finally I called Macy's Credit Customer Service 1-866-593-2543 - after negotiating their VM queue using 000-00-0000 as my SSN I was given to a CS rep... guess where, India. Who informed me that my account was closed and in good standing when it was and told me that I should not be receiving any calls - they transfered me to another collection dept. that verified that I have no outstanding Macy's or Bloomingdales accounts and that I will no longer receive call. Let's wait and find out.

- BrandonI got this call for the last few nites for my wife to call this 18005451256 for a personal business matter from Macy's. The only this is that neither one of us has EVER had a Macy card or do we go to Macy's. This has to be a scam or something. Neither of us go to Macy's or have anything to do with them.

- Sunny| 2 repliesI got a call from 800 545-1256, saying they were calling for me with a personal business matter and they were from macy's and to call them today. I called and got another oerson who said they would help me and then aked for my acct number from macys which I did'nt give them then they asked for my social and I said I never give that over the phone I asked why they called and they said they were a collection agency. I am never late on any payments in my life this is a scam and I am going to macy's and closing the account today
- Connie| 16 repliesI work for Macy's Collections Dept in their Central Office. The 727 area code is their South Office. This # is what we give when we call people, and if you're 3 day late, you get kicked to us to give you a reminder call b/c most people just forget their payments. Trust me, its a legit # and most of us are rather nice if you just tell us how much you're going to send and when and how. If we can get that, we can list it as a 'Promise to Pay' and stop calling for about 7 days. We don't ride you, we just remind you. But as a collector, especially on the accounts that are 3 & 4 months deliquent...people are more upset if we just report you to the credit bureau, so be thankful we call to remind you instead of just report you like some card companies do.
