Not always the case, but yes most of the time.  However usually debt collectors also do not like to give out their name unless they are speaking to the person who they want to speak with and they only do that once they have verified your identity

Agreed..this number most likely is from Macey's..but its really unprofessional that they don't say where they are calling from. lol

I m from one of those guys who call from this number. this is th macy's collection department. the call is done to u as a reminder for ur macy's account if u are some paymnt behind.. need not to worry, its not an collection agency bt jst macy's collection department..

someone calls for my mom EVVERY DAY!  I'm ahead of them now that I know it's macy's.  They keep getting bitchy with me when I tell them she won't even call back if I do take the number down because it's a 1800 number.  Thank god I searched the number.  i was getting pretty irate....

there are 4 different call centers, so each # given will be different. its a personal business matter,there are a lot of people who do not like everyone 2 know there personal business.

This call is coming from St. Petersburg,Fl. The number is unpublished and the provider is Verizon Florida, Inc. The number appears on my caller ID as 727-556-7300. Macy's won't call from an unpublished number. They called my house looking for my husband I know ten times one day. It wasn't until I insisted on a call back number that they gave me the 800-545-1256 number. Macy's doesn't work like this. Our payment isn't due until the middle of June. Macy's has never, ever called to remind you to pay. I know that this is a scam. People will do anything to get your money. What they don't realize is that they have to answer to a higher power, God. All that scamming won't get them into heaven. They should spend time with God instead of the devil.

This " company" calls my residance 3-4 times per day without leaving a message...when i finally answered they would't company name, only stating "an important business matter that must addressed immediately."

You don't ride us?  Our house has been called by 727-556-7300 at least 5 times a day for the past 2 weeks.  On several occasions we answered and get dead air, nobody on the line.  Finally some Indian-sounding person got on the line asking for my daughter.  Last night, she called back the 800-545-1256 number and while on the phone with them they disconnected her.  Tonight she got through and it was about her Macy's card.  She asked why they keep calling since payment isn't due yet, and they asked if she wanted to make a payment over the phone.  She declined, saying she'd make payment on line as usual.  This is annoying and harrassing even if it is legitimate, and we have told her to close the account and stop shopping at Macy's.

A lady of the phone number 8005451256 called us to ask to talk to my sister-in-law for personal business. Therefore,I asked her to leave her name, phone number,company name, and message for my sister-in-law to return her call. However, she used very rude and mean voice answered my requiring.

Oh yea?  How do you account for sopmeone who does not nor ever had a Macy's credit card?

Some lady called my mom with a 1-800-545-1256 number, so while I was waiting for a television show to load, I looked up the number online. Thank you for showing those comments because now I know who it might be. I also know that I should listen when my mom says let the answer machine pick up. She's old but she's wise and I love that woman!

i am late of couple days so far on my macys account. i will be paying them next month double the amount plus late fee..i dont know why they keep bugging me..geez i had other personal problems to tend to first. rarrr..:) Mr macys i will pay u off..lol

Same thing....Calls 4-5 times a day...Caller ID shows 727-556-7300 .  Can't block it.  They give you 800-545-1256 to call back.  An Indian guy on the other end asking to speak to my wife...what a pain....Closing the account must be the only option...

You expect people reading this post that you are a legitimate collector? You can't even use proper grammar or punctuation! People - pay online and don't give your account info to the caller or to anyone at this line. Sounds too fishy.

I believe this number is legit, BUT, they have horrible service techniques. My experience was with a Brody Hawkins. Her English is horrible at best. On both calls I answered there was just dead air (except for some mumbling in the background) and finally Ms Hawkins would say hello. Heavy Hatian accent, mumbling, etc, it was sad. Only asking for my wife by first name and not giving any info. Macy's cant seriously think this service is okay. If they call again I am recording it and posting it on YouTube. Macy's should be ashamed of itself for allowing this company to represent them.

Nevermind, the more I look into this the more I think it is a scam. Look up the number they are calling you from 1.727.556.7300, that has a lot more reports of questionable behavior. They can't speak a lick of English and are always asking for your account number, not just the last four digits (which is probably all they have and they are trying to get you to give them the whole thing). Just pay online or call Macy's yourself.

I've been getting this calls to for a while, but after 2 "hello" I decided to hang up, but finally today Ms Hawkins decided to "speak" with a confused voice tone, like if she were crying or something... weird! I told her my mom wasn't available to answer and she said to call back to this number 1800-545-1256. I had the feeling something wasn't right, so I googled this number and found this out... we got to be careful about the info we give out!
