I got this call last night n hung up and then called it back..
.When it was answered the person DID SAY" WELL's FARGO CUSTOMER SERVICES FRAUD DEPARTMENT"

They claimed to be looking for a JOSE GONZALEZ who gave them MY phone number on his CC application or whatever.
What makes no sense is I have had my number for 15 years.......I certainly would NOT want a card from a bank that does not check the residence and phone number of the person.

I called a few friends who do back at WELLS FARGO all who put blocks are their cards and fraud alerts since the TARGET  problem.

You  can solve this whole worry by contacting Trans Union, Exquifax and Experian and fill out a FREEZE ACCT form. It is rather detailed and my ask questions you need to do some research first like a CAR Loan from 20 years ago... if so they then send you the form by mail after they can 100% confirm who you are.

Unlike LIKELOCK and these other so called CREDIT CARD WATHERS who do nothing but tell you every time someone check your score which can bring DOWN your FICO SCORE just for looking, this service is through each and cost only 10.00 NOBODY can get a PEAK at your info ,open any accts not even get a phone unless you unlock it with a special pin number they issue you......

Waiting to get ripped off and then wait for LIFELOCK to fix it and get all your money back sounds like a HUGE HEADACHE that you end up losing anyway. I tired it by attempting to open  Cell Phone acct and within minutes my wifes cell was ringing and it was Equifax calling to see if I was trying to open an acct at the STORE inXXXXXX TOWN !!!! So they are legite and the BEST 10 BUCKS I ever spent.....

This is Wells Fargo.  They suspect some type of fraud activity on some cards and it is just to alert customers that a new card will be sent.  This is a very annoying and suspicious phone call when you are asked to 'press any number to continue.'  Sounds like a scam and I reported that although I'm sure nothing will be done about it.  Maybe it's time to cancel the card completely and find a more honest and efficient credit card company.

I got a similar message on my machine for someone who used to use this number, so it's a little fishy--if it's an important call, why did they use an old number? I called the number and asked to have our number removed, but I was told that the fraud dept. that does that was closed, so I could call back or call them directly at 800-723-5533.

    Frustrated
Twice today received calls from Wells Fargo re credit card for a person that is unknown to me.  I've had this telephone number for close to three years.  I called WF went thru a discussion explaining that I have never had any dealings with WF and do not know the person for whom they are calling.  I asked that they stop calling my number.  Within a couple hours I received, yet again, a call from WF with info for the unknown person.  I called WF again, had to wait a long time to get to talk with their "customer non-service" rep.  She said it would take 24 hours for them to stop the computer-generated callings.  I said that I considered these continuing calls to be harassment and asked that WF stop calling sooner.  She hung up on me.

    I'm now blocking 800-642-4720.

I got a message from this number.  It informed me that a new upgraded Visa card would be sent to me within the next ten business days.  I was suspicious because the caller ID says “out of area”.  I logged into my bank account.  The number is a valid contact for credit cards.  But the number to call is not listed anywhere.  I was also suspicious because I had already received my cards.  Always look up the number to your bank and call them directly.

Got numerous calls from this #. Displayed # has "11" in front of it. ATT supposed to block anonymous calls, but doesn't. Have been bombed w/ robodial calls since I switched to ATT U-Verse voice: 91 in 3 weeks! ATT told me these would stop when I went unlisted, but they only got worse.

They haven't called me, but I got an email saying "We've shipped your new Wells Fargo SECURED CARD XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-5177." I've never done business with Wells Fargo - EVER. This isn't the first email I've received on this, but always just deleted it because it didn't pertain to me - now I am sure it's a scam. I've forwarded it to Wells Fargo's fraud department.

This is a sincere customer service call from Wells Fargo.  I received a call this morning, didn't answer in time and they left a voice mail message.  The message was important as it related to my newly updated credit card.

Got a legit call from this number to confirm I wrote a large check off of my Wells Fargo credit card account, which I had. I appreciate their level of security. However, like has been mentioned before, never give personal info out over the phone unless you've called the bank or business number listed on their website directly. Because Wells Fargo called me, they didn't ask for personal info as they already had that information.

This was a valid call from Wells Fargo Fraud Alerts. It was a robo caller seeking to verify whether or not I made charges on my credit card. I had no problems with this call.

The caller, UNAVAILBLE ( displayed as ID ) ,called us @ 08:42, 12.20.2012.  We opted not to answer unwanted call on the spot per FTC suggestion. When returned the call hiding my number.  A message : please enter last 4 digits of your credit card. It is very hard to get though to talk with real " Wells Fargo Bank " staff! My wife uses Wells Fargo often. I don't.
Caller: UNAVAILABLE. ( Wells FARGO Fraud Division? ), other reporters said.
According http.800notes.com above this number has been used to defraud others credit card information since 2011.

You cannot hide your number on a toll free call.  Since they are paying for the call they are entitled to the information.

I received a call from this number and it turned out to be a Wells Fargo automated call. I did not answer but they left a voicemail. The message stated by name (correctly) and said Wells Fargo was sending another credit card since recent transaction history deemed my current card "at risk." Seems legit. However, you should never give out your personal information to anyone that calls you directly and claims to be a financial institution. Stay safe out there folks.
