I received a call on my cell phone from this number on Monday, September 19th.  A man with a heavy Indian accent asked for me by name.  I asked what he wanted and he said he was from Microsoft and he was calling me to notify me my computer had been hacked. I immediately told him I thought it was scam and hung up. I've since called the number and it does say it is Microsoft so now I'm confused and concerned.  I was sure this was a scam call.

I answered this call once and the woman who spoke to me was Indian. She was telling me about she was from Washington DC and how I was one of a select few that had been chosen to receive a loan of about 10,000 dollars. However, she said I could only receive this loan if I gave them my banking account information, to which I immediately hung up and blocked this number.

Call blocker or just ignore calls from unfamiliar numbers and let them go to voice mail or an answering machine.

This type of scammer makes cold calls trying to trick whoever answers into following their instructions.
Over a long period of time, eventually they stop calling your number if you never answer it. They will not leave messages because they know most of the recipients will not call them back. Males making these calls like to talk to women in America and thus might call your number for a long time hoping to hear your voice even if they do not trick you into following their malicious instructions.

Just got a(nother) call from this number.  I answered today.  Woman who barely spoke English said she was calling from "the US Government".  I told her that if she was working for the US Government she needed to learn to speak English.  She replied, "thank you but no thank you" and hung up. LOL

We had called the real Microsoft for help with Windows 10.  They did call back to confirm the service was good and problem was resolved.

While this IS a 'legitimate' Microsoft phone number (which was given to us by Comcast), it is very easy for scumbags in whatever country to 'spoof' the number that appears on your Caller Id and CLAIM/PRETEND they are 'Microsoft Support' - those calls ARE scams and are obvious with the foreign accents who want to extort money from you and are rude!!

Rule of thumb, if you recently initiated a call to Microsoft and they are calling you back, that is normal.  If you NEVER called Microsoft or have NO 'Windows' product and only use Apple products and someone 'from Microsoft support' calls you with a Foreign accent - - -  HANG UP, it is an unwanted scam from scum buckets!!!

Also - if you get a call that you won the Australian (or other) Lottery and you NEVER PLAYED THE LOTTERY...  that's a SCAM too.   :)

This number called me three times in a row.  Did not answer, no message left.  Called them back and it said Thank you for calling Microsoft.  I don't even have any Microsoft products so this must be the Windows scam I've heard about.

    WOWReally?
New year same old [***]. Got a call but I didn't answer. Called it back and it was supposedly Microsoft support. I do have Microsoft PCs but I do NOT have issues on any of my 3 machines so there's no reason for them to be calling me.
