- CWG40 replies to Rebecca SizemoreIf they accessed your computer they no doubt have any and all private information you might have stored there, plus I'm sure they've installed malware which will basically give them access to your computer anytime they want. Key logger and so forth.
Don't know that much about computers, although I've been messing around with them since the 1980s, but I'd definitely take it to an IT person you know and trust and have a complete diagnostic done on it to make sure it's clean.
Don't ever allow anyone to access your computer unless you personally know and trust the individual. Also I'd make sure to change any CC or Debit Card #s or any account numbers you might have had on your computer.
You've been seriously hacked! Anything of value, information wise is in the scammers hand now. - schiapI have switched to a MAC & seldom turn on my PC. I love messing with these people! I told them how grateful I was for their call and that I would be taking my computer to the computer doctor right away. They insisted I go to the computer and they would walk me through what had to be done. Told them the computer wasn't turned on and that I would call them back when it was up and running. Of course, I won't call. LOL
- AgnesThis is a call back number I got fr this lady saying my computer was going to crash. The number she called fr was 1956 354 9072 she was Asian or Pakistani . I didn't reply to her request. To get in to my computer.
- LaceyThey called me 3 times in 20 minutes. The 4th time I answered but hung up after he said he was with Microsoft because I believe it to be a scam. Saw an article later that day about a scam claiming to be Microsoft. They want remote access to your computer where they steal your info and have you pay to remove a virus that they put on your computer.
- Caller: NOT Microsoft
- peter jacksonthis is scam
- Nancy L. Baratianswers as Microsoft and has fixed my pc?????and what else did they do, I am so hurt and embarrassed, I have been used by so many different people. The last one here is suppose to be Microsoft, prior to that I called what was to be Acer and they said call Microsoft it is their issue, gave me a number and been dealing with them. Another 149.99 spent. Just got off phone with a young girl Jessica ( jhess) from Phillipines for 4hrs fixing all the pop ups and I asked for help to set up new wireless printer (HP) unsuccessful, call (HP) told.....Called HP, then Bob put me on hold and said u got problems, Microsoft never charges and then he put up this page and I sat here looking at it and calling no one answer, then when answers and say name, disconnected. Is this world full of users, abusers ands scammers. What do I do. Companies all the same, I Yogi, Answers By.Com, Log Me In Rescue, Assured Software Support.Plan, everyone hundreds of dollars and claim to be Microsoft (that was last one) If not for Bob from HP/printer, he told me did not believe swore its Microsoft, he said Microsoft does not charge and I finally clicked above to discover that number is for many things such as scam and viruses and destroy your pc and life........
- Caller: I called
- Gregory F replies to Rob| 6 repliesSomething not quite right here. I can state for a fact that this is Microsoft calling to followup on a tech support incident. If you got this call, someone may have gotten the number wrong.
- PartieHonteuse| 1 replyMicrosoft's support team actually does use this number.
Our company uses Office 365 and when we have issues Microsoft will respond to our support request from this number.
This number even shows on the Microsoft Website:

Now, people here are reporting it as those scams that call and tell you that you have a virus because they are more than likely faking the caller-id or call return number. It's easier to do than you think.- Caller: Microsoft
- JosiePhone number listed on credit card bill with a .99 cent charge.... never charged by us. This is a scam, call your credit card company directly.... DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER. - Caller: Says "Microsoft" but is NOT
- BobI have been SCAMMED by this number - my email outgoing server through Time Warner keeps asking for my password - call Road Runner - they tell me my addresses and port numbers are wrong. Change them to what Road Runner tell me they should be and nothing works. They then give me this number for "Microsoft Office Support" and I get someone in India who then proceeds to tell me that they can't fix anything unless I give them access to my commuter and pay a $200 bill. I took this info to my local Time Warner office and they said it was a scam. This was like 6-7 months ago. I now happened again yesterday - but, I didn't bite this time and will be again addressing it locally. It always happens at around 4:30 - 5:00 pm after the local office closes. It may be a legitimate number for Microsoft - but, someone - somehow is scamming in a very complex manner.
- Larry L replies to PartieHonteuseThat is the best explanation yet. When you call the number you actually get Microsoft customer service, but when the call comes in, it's NOT from Microsoft!
- KT NCWe purchased a new laptop for our boss and our IT called Microsoft support to clear up some technical issues. This phone call came in and no one said anything at first so I hung up figuring it was a telemarketer. They called a second time and so I googled it. I asked my IT guy if he was expecting a call back from Microsoft and he said yes. So the third time this number called I waited and after about 3-5 seconds, the microsoft support guy came on. He was calling back to continue the technical support. And he definitely spoke with a foreign accent. So beware, these calls might be legit.
- Caller: Microsoft
- bugnutzI don't know about this number. They called me twice today but I was shopping and didn't answer it. But Microsoft can and will and does call back because I had a legit call back from escalated support yesterday. If it is about a virus, the virus IS Windows 8.1, which downloaded without my consent, despite turning windows updates off, and requires that you PAY to get it OFF. Either in time and tears or someone else to do it. Although they call it an operating system, THAT IS the behavior of an insidious virus!!! So if Microsoft calls you about a virus, tell them THEY are the virus, and install Ubuntu instead :-)
- JanReceived a call from this number a short time ago which I did not recognize or answer. No message!!
Caller I D shows 800 service - VXOLegitimate response for a Microsoft support request. Definitely from overseas; it took them a few attempts to get a usable call through to me too (loud static and distorted voice)
It would not surprise me to see that telemarketers and scammers are spoofing this number, however.- Caller: Microsoft
- not happyWe all know the deal. Either we are redirected to that number by some almost-American sounding Indian or they throw calls at our homes. I'll stick to trying to use the actual Microsoft tech service. You should to.
- Caller: scammers
- NOT! replies to henryThat's because people who use Apple are not smart enough to know their product is broken, or that data brokers (via Apple) are selling their life story to anyone with a thin dime and a request.
- Warren replies to RobI am having a problem with MS Office and need to call them but this is the only # I can find. I got it on MS's website. What # did you call?
