Having driven away one of their stooges was clearly not deterring enough, so they tried again, late morning the next day. 64 minutes later I got a third try from "Chase Card Svcs" ... and no, I don't think it's coincidental but the same fraud shop changing bank names in the wild hope that I've turned stupid overnight. I'm expecting more calls which abuse different customer service numbers of prominent creditors. This will be the future of spoofing after all unassigned phone numbers are corralled and all Neighbor Spoofs get blocked.

Recent complaints in the Chase thread, and a captured file on the Unnamed Blocker, speak of a variant which ratchets up the pressure. "Alice", a badly compressed and sibilant text-to-speech female, threatens to cancel your Visa card account unless you "press one now" for a "lower interest rate".

CID showed Sears Credit Card - leaves no message.  I don't answer and calls that are not familiar to me

CID says...Sears Credit.  I haven't dealt with Sears since the early 80's when they allowed my ex-wife and one of her other ex-husbands to use my credit. They even took me to small claims in an effort to get me to pay for their foul up. I countered...I won they didn't

I got the exact same thing here, first the fake Sears Credit call, then a slew of other similar 'bank' calls. Each one though left the same bogus message about my 'Special Offer" to lower my credit rate is about to expire. "Press '1' tp speak tp 'Credit Services'. The woman's voice in the recording had a slight Asian accent.
I've gotten over 80 calls in the past three months with the same or similar message.
I just let it ring, reporting the calls to the 'Do Not Call' site seems to be a waste of time. I get more spa calls now then before we ever had the Do Not Call list.

So I'm not alone in finding the same fraud shop trying to fool me by cycling through actual bank CSR numbers, as I'd noted on the previous page.

Complaints to DNCR site -- and the FTC and state AGs -- form a handy pool of intel for law enforcement. It's known as the Consumer Sentinel Network. Enforcers need those reports and statistics to accurately reflect the scope of "lower interest rate" crooks and all the other phone system abusers. As individuals we won't and cannot see rapid relief, not without filing our own TCPA lawsuits. The problem is too big, and too close in shape to the email spam tsunami of a prior generation.

The DNCR was set up to put nuisance telemarketers on notice, not actively stop any calls. Some of us have short memories of how well this worked for the first few years, against trashy callers who howled and moaned that the FCC and FTC were being oh-so-unfair to them. Circa 2008, the junk callers all bought computer dialers and began learning the fine art of spoofing, creating an easy end run around the transparency which comes with buying access to the Registry.

It’s someone spoofing Sears’ phone number but it really isn’t them.  They just made the phone number to look like it’s from Sears.

Fake phone call showing Sears on Caller ID.  But I answered this and it’s the typical credit card scam.  I hung up when I realized what it really was.   The real Sears credit card phone number knows about this and is working on it.  Do not fall for the scam...they are trying to get your personal information.  To repeat, it is NOT Sears

Another call from unknown.  I've been getting a lot of these lately.  The internet says SCAM-and that is easy to believe However when we didn't answer the other calls they have started with another number.  We don't answer anything we don't recognize.  We invite Legitimate callers to leave a message then we would return the call.  Of course, no message,  I have a caller blocker, which should tell them they are not going to speak with us.

Call blockers don't "tell them" anything, including the fact that you wish the calls would stop. Autodialers can blast out calls by the thousand, and there isn't time or ability to accept verbal invitations in your messaging greeting. It's cheaper for the fraud shops if you go on blocking and ignoring so they can efficiently find the most vulnerable recipients. The call blasts are too cheap to stop trying to snare those who are blocking, and in theory there is always a chance of their success.

Amazing how many people actually think that a call blocker somehow magically communicates their wish to not be called, isn't it?

Now you tell me it could’ve been Sears.  We’ve gotta Sears card.  Guess they would’ve said something.

After reading all of the above comments, I accidentally answered a call from this number. They asked me if i had other credit cards, of course i said NO. I asked them who they thought they were calling, response "let me look up you profile" I did listen for about 20 seconds, CALL CENTER. Hung up and BLOCKED. this is a real Sears number and I am wondering why Sears is not doing something to protect their customers security....

Keeps calling about credit card interest

I'm not sure what you'd like Sears to do beyond sending an employee to your home to play secretary and answer your phones. (Technically it would be someone from Citi Group since Sears hocked its credit division around 16 years ago.) They cannot magically unveil the scammer's call source any sooner than you or me. Odds are the frauds have been spoofing different actual bank CSR numbers, other than Sears and Chase. At best they could imitate Microsoft from a few years back and launch trademark infringement lawsuits, against slippery criminals across international boundaries who have had a dozen years to perfect the art of concealment.

This of course won't solve your problem today, nor can immediate relief be expected. You're already doing what's needed to "protect security" by taking strange phone calls with a skeptical ear, the sort of fraud awareness promoted by law enforcement and other watchdogs as the best current line of defense.
