Call all hours, sometimes within minutes of previous call.  They NEVER leave a message, they just hang up and call again.  I am on the National Do Not Call List and have reported them but got a hangup call from them as recently as last night around 5.  How can these people be stopped from these practices???

DNC list does not apply to debt collectors.  However the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act does apply to them.

Consider sending them a cease and desist letter.  This should be by US mail, return receipt requested.

Meantime, invest in a call blocker and DO NOT pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.

they call every few weeks..............today I tried calling them back and said closed..........so I called att customer service and added their number  1-800-732-6606 to my blocked liste...........randy

It is much better to make them follow the law, and then when they don't, sue them and make them pay you.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt) letter (think of it as the best $6.59 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

They are fishing for a dead beat. They have no idea where the debtor lives so they call every number in the country with your name trying to see if they can luck out. Best to ignore the call (call block) and hopefully one day they will drop your number as unreachable. I guess if you have a common name like Joe Smith or Mary Brown, you get a lot these calls!

My 15 year old is getting calls from this number.
He said he gets calls asking for somebody by name since he got his phone 3 year ago.He tells them "wrong number " and ends the call.

Vital recovery has been leaving messages for few weeks.Since I know I don't have any debts I never called them back.Today they called when I was home so I answered.Somehow they think I bought used Hunday Santa Fe last year and stopped paying for it.Never owned one and that's easy to check.That should stop them calling me again.

Another message from Vital Recovery about a debt.I called them few weeks ago and I proved it's not me who they looking for and they stopped calling for a while.Now they started again.
And I'm single woman with no loans taken and they looking for a man.

They call every hour . They never leave a message or say anything when you answer
