- Steve Tuttle replies to CarlBMine was a hoot, could not even speak English,Told me pretty much what everyone has said, Microsoft, blah, blah. I knew he was full of crap as I'm a MS certified admin, and MS does updating on default auto update.
But, I decided to jack with him - Said, "I'm sorry, this is a bad connection - Good afternoon, this is the Houston Regional office of the FBI Cyber-threat division, I could here him crap is pants while he slammed down the phone.
Laughed my ass off so much it made my Grandson worry there was something wrong - CarolineBeen receiving calls from this number - I don't answer unless there is a name ID on my phone. "Out of Area", "Unknown" etc. After the first call I blocked the number which makes it ring once and hang up. I received a call this morning at 8:20 - it rang once and hung up. You can't answer these calls, they are scammers and will offer you everything just to get information they can use. The DO NOT CALL list works as well as the Post Office, Medicare, Obamacare. I wonder what kind of phone that allows you to block 1500 callers. I'll buy one! This becomes a game - I block everything I can't identify.

the loud background noise was an indication that its not my usual Microsoft service provider - Elspeth replies to JayIf you haven't done so already - take your computer to a reputable bricks and mortar computing store and have them clean it for you - they may have to reformat the hard drive to make sure all the malware and viruses these people have placed on it are removed. I hope you didn't give them any money either - if you did, call your bank and say it's a fraudulent transaction and you want them to stop the payment or reverse it. Also, remember from now on that Microsoft does NOT call people up randomly - they only call if you've submitted a help ticket to them online.

- Caller: Nothing was said
- unproncbleThese are bad people calling!
A female voice with an Indian accent went thru the same bit about Microsoft Windows and this being a "check up call", etc.,etc. Wanted to know if she was talking to the person in charge of that. I said I needed a bit more understanding about why she was calling and she rattled off some things so quickly, I could barely understand.
But I let her rattle on and finally said, "OK, if you give me your name and number, I'll have someone return the call".
That's when I heard CLICK! and the line disconnected. She hung up on me! Rude! LOL. I didn't really take any of this seriously. I could tell from the moment I picked up the phone this was going to be a scam. - StaceyIt is a scam they just called me claiming to be Microsoft. I let him speak for a min. and asked him what he wanted. He said that while my computer was off line it was downloading malicious spywear. I told him that if he called me again I would call the police! He hung up and I reported the call and the phone #.

They had a foreign accent, and asked if I was near my computer where I could let them in to check. I told him I had 3 virus programs to cover that problem, and no one looks at my computer then hung up.
