I received a version of this scam too.  On the outside: "Happy Birthday" in large letters, and "Presorted First-Class Mail, U.S. Postage Paid, West Palm Beach, FL, Permit No. 3950" in the upper-right corner.  On the inside: the Hilton logo and the following message:

"In honor of your Birthday, we would like to offer you a complimentary 3-Day/2 Night Hilton Get-a-way to many of the Hilton properties located in the continental USA.  Offer also includes TWO complimentary ROUND TRIP AIRFARES to any major international airport in the continental U.S.!!!!  

*** WEEK DAY BONUS *** By responding within 48 Hrs. you will also be eligible to receive the Week day Bonus.  

Week Day Bonus includes $300 in Walmart gift certificates.

To claim this special offer, simply call 1-800-813-6994 Monday thru Saturday 9am-9pm, for details!

Also included in the envelope was a $300 Walmart Gift Voucher that listed the same phone number and offer number.  On the back was the message: "Some restrictions apply.  Recipient is responsible for all applicable taxes, fees and deposits.  Call for details of participation.  This promotion is not sponsored by or affiliated with Hilton or Walmart but they are major suppliers.  Walmart voucher is a rebate certificate."

I did an online search for the number and found this thread.  I didn't call the number and I'm not planning to.  I don't know exactly what the catch is, but I'm sure that nobody offers three nights in a hotel, airfare anywhere in the U.S., and $300 for shopping, unless they have a scheme to get a lot more in return.

My scam is a combination of yours DJ & Rogers.  Minute differences:  Holiday Inn in Georgetown  2101 WI Ave NW DC 2007.  Also my gift certficates were for $600 Walmart/Target.  (Wow, twice as much!)  The hours on Sat were 10, 12, 2 & 4.  M-W were the same times as Rogers.  I spoke w/Dave and was told to replace my certificate "offer number" PB0007 with "DM 0830"  This way "Dave" would get credit for the referral.  Also, I could only get the $600 certificates if I attended a mtg Wed-Fri.
HOWEVER, since I lived so far away I could take advantage of the opportunity on Sat since it would be a shame for me to "miss out on such a great offer" simply because I lived so far away and worked late in the evenings.  

It's okay if you don't have a spouse as long as you have a partner.  (I guess middle income singles need not respond!)  Oh, and above all else you must remember that this "is not a time share / vacation property presentation - this is a vacation travel club/agency opportunity."  You only have to listen to a 90 minute presentation - "which in all honesty takes only about an hour."  

I was going to go this Friday so that I would get my "TWO complimentary ROUND TRIP AIRFARES" to any major internation airport .." but decided to GOOGLE the company's name w/SCAM and this and about 50 other sites.  Thanks to everyone for the "411" saved me a lot of gas and valuable time!  I've been burned before & had no intentions of parting w/any of my $ or CC info.

P.S.  I almost forgot  - my certificate also included my choice of an offer for a "New Laptop/Notebook Computer w/New Microsoft Software" in place of the $600 Walmart/target Rebate Gift Cards.  
I don't even know waht a "REBATE GIFT CARD" is.  Rebate/Gift are not the same thing.  I've always had to spend money FIRST before a PORTION of what I spent was offerred to me in return.

They did not call me I r'cd the "Happy Birthday" offer discussed by DJ & Roger.  I called from work about 1000 EST and it seemed like I woke up the guy who answered.  Or perhaps he had to rember which RIPOFF SCAM I was responding to based on by Offer Number: PB007.  

Also the info in the right hand corner (where a stamp usually goes) is also the same.

It looks as though the offer has escalated. I received a card in the mail with a picture of a cruise ship supposedly name "Caribbean Dream" on the front. It also said in bold letters, "Complimentary" and "8 Day Cruise" On the reverse side the postal permit was Tampa, FL #78. At the top it says Wal-Mart . Target. It then says that I have been selected to receive a complimentary eight day/seven night Caribbean Cruise for two in celebration of our "Grand Opening" in your area. So far as I know there have been no recent WalMart or Target openings in my area. The card contains my first and last names and states that if I call within 48 hours I will receive a $300 rebate gift voucher from either Wal-Mart or Target. Of course they have no way of knowing when I received the card. The toll free number is 1-877-491-5141 and the supposed cruise destinations are Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Nassau, Bahamas and St. Thomas, U.S. V.I. The card assures (no gimmicks! This is not a timeshare offer). An eight day cruise for two, even at a deeply discounted price is very valuable. Walmart and Target are strong competitors, they would never combine for an offer and the offer is much to good to be true. The scam continues.

My wife just got one the other day.  Just the look of it got my suspicions aroused so I googled "Mark Licensing", and whaddya know?

Two things to remember:
 Nothing is free.
 If it seems to good to be true, in all likelihood, it is.

Sure hope nobody gets stung by this scam.

I got the same offer of a free laptop, but I also would get a $50 hotelcard cash card if I call within 48 hours.  This is what "their promotion dept. scheduled for me"!

I have just got the same card with balloons and happy birthday but for me it was United airline tickets and Marriott. Thank you for posting. I have never believed in free stuff, I just thought this one of these timeshare sales.

I just got the same card with the ship Caribbean Dream, 8 da7 cruise, Walmart/Target $300 etc etc. My post card was mailed Presorted First Class which is what they apparently are dling to lure people to read further.  This card was from Tampa FL Permit #78. I wish I could have seen your blob before purchasing the Paradise Escapes vacation package from Leslie Lenel from Virginia.  The vacation package included processing fee $299, one time initial fee $1351 and yearly fee $319.  I tried to contact her cell, home and email but no response.  I will contact the attorney general soon. I received similar "Happy Birthday" UNITED round trip airfares to any major international airport plus 3 days/2nights Hilton plus $600 bonus of shopping spree at Walmart or Target or a laptop.  All these are scamp from the same company and same people with different names "Global Holidays", "Paradise Escapes" "Global Vacation"...WATCH OUT people!!!
We went to their seminar last Saturday at Holiday Inn hotel Arlington, VA.  They put two of their own couples in the room with us and immediately annouced that these two couple have joined their Paradise Escapes Platinum package lifetime membership.  This package costs $8995 initial fee, plus $299 processing fee plus $319 yearly membership fee.  All you get is discount resorts, cruises, airfares.  
Then the two couples left the room.  We and another Marine couple left in the room to get screw over.  At then end, we thought we were getting a good deal of the same Platinum package for just $1351.
Credit card and driver licence immediately asked for to process the transaction.
We came home and couldn't sleep that night.  We did lots of searching on Paradise Escapes, global holiday, global vacation and found lots of scam complaints.

I got the same thing in the mail yesterday but was offered $600 in Walmart or Target rebate vouchers.  Thank goodness my husband told me to google it to see if it was real.

I got the Happy Birthday mailer and kept turning it over and rereading it looking for the catch.  I figured it was a way to add my phone number to someone's data base so I Googled the "Offer Number PB007" first.  Glad I did. Thank you everyone!

Things to consider about this offer, some of which has already been mentioned:

• An eight day cruise for two, even at the most deeply discounted rate is still quite expensive. There is no particular cruise line mentioned in this offer, so there's no promotional value for the cruise line. So, who's paying for the cruise, and why?

• Wal-Mart and Target are each other's top competitors. They don't co-promote. So, who's paying for the $300 rebate offer, and why?

• Although the implication is that the offer is in reference to either Wal-Mart or Target when stating that it's "In celebration of our Grand Opening in your area," the card doesn't actually identify what company has recently opened in the area. As it pertains to me, neither of these companies has opened a new store location in my area.

•  There's no reference to whatever company is behind the promotion, just an ambiguous toll free number. Not even a website where skeptical folks can learn more about the offer, the company behind it, who's paying for it or why. That, in itself, is worthy of considerable suspicion.

Two thoughts come to mind:
(1) "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is."
(2) "There's no such thing as a free lunch."

Bottom line, the answer to the question, "Who's paying for the expensive cruise and/or the $300 rebate gift voucher?" is simple: Gullible Respondents.

I got one today.  This is mail fraud how do we turn this in and who.  The post office should be the place to start but when you call the, dumb as a box of rock.  Any ideas?

Just got a postcard with Carnival and US Airlines logos at the top that says, "Celebration of our Anniversary in your area, You have been selected to receive a Complimentary 8 day/7-night Cruise for 2 with an outside cabin, leaving from any major port in the US and if you call within 48 hours, you will receive a bonus 2 round trip airfares leaving from or going to any major airport in the US"....I knew this was too good to be true but I called 1-800-813-6994 number listed on the card anyway and nobody ever picked up. The recording said, "You have reached Paradise Escapes. All of our representatives are busy with other callers...please leave your name and number and someone will get back to you right away."....Glad I googled Paradise Escapes....they won't get me with this scam! Usually, if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is!
