Caller ID shows Medi credit. They call my landline phone. The automated voice states who they are collecting for. In this case My Local Hospital's name.Trying to recover past due Hospital medical bills that have gone to collections. And Just asks to call them back.  Which has happened to my wife.( I called the hospital ) I asked if they use this service. And they affirmed that they do use them. We do make payments directly to the hospital now. But the hospital doesn't inform the agency of this.

Left VM: "Hi this is Medi-Credit... [another message/voice cuts in] THIS IS A CALL FROM A DEBT COLLECTOR. PLEASE CALL US AT 800-823-2318..."  From reading the comments it looks like this is a real company, but I suspect it's a scam anyway. I don't owe anyone anything and my credit is frozen so they are barking up the wrong tree.

Debt collector keeps calling for a Lauren. They have the wrong number, yet continue to call after being asked not to call my number again since there is no one here named Lauren.  They are calling to collect a hospital debt.  Annoying!

This debt collector is a scammer! They have been calling me and sending me letters all year but I have Medicare and my insurance pus for everything! I’ve contacted my insurer three times about this and they said I owe nothing and that what they are doing is illegal. Don’t give them any info and don’t pay them. Scammers!

So instead making them validate the debt by disputing it (which you should have been aware of when you received those letters) you did nothing?  I think that your failure to do anything for a whole year of more of a problem.

You will need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt), cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (this will be the best money that you have ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt, and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

Everything else you need to know follows including at least two or more federal and state agencies where you should report their criminal activities.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

    1. I had issues with CA's decades ago and I know all their scams.
    2.  I bought a brand new iphone last year, mostly to make videos, and so that my 85-yo mother who lives in the other end of the house has a way to summon me if she falls-and-can't-get-up.  So there are 3 contacts in my iphone's contact list.  Anyone not on the list is blocked by the operating system.  But this place is among many CA's and misc. scammers that call daily.  I assume calling to collect from a party that previously had this telephone number.
    3.  I'm not about to contact this company and give any kind of info on who I am what-so-ever, as they will find some way to create a new scam to harass me with.  But I really resent that they can't take a moment with their demon-dialer and listen to my outgoing message which confirms they don't have the right party.

Caoller clains to be Medicredit Inc, a Medical debt Collector. I have my doubts. They are harrassing me claiming I owe them for aMedical bill that , according to my insurance, has been paid in full.  The callrer refuses to provide me with dates of service, or an address where I can mail a registered letter demanding the debt to be returned to the original biller.

Even with call block, they get through. I'm not sure how they are able to get through still. Very annoying!
