- michelle74| 1 replyI received a call from this agency. Do not talk to them. They are fraud. I checked with the hospital and I do not have any outstanding bills. I haven't been to this hospital in a long time. What so weird about this is that I haven't received in any late notices or bills. They just want your personal info.

- A. WilliamsThey called me and I asked who and why they were calling and the lady said to identify myself, I once again asked why they are calling and she hung up on me.

- Delane| 1 replyAs another person said, it's from Medi-Credit. I didn't answer, but googled the number first, then called the number back. I do not owe this business any money and I'm not behind on the couple of loans I've paying on. I did get calls several months ago saying I owed a hospital in my town, and I told them I hadn't been at that hospital since 1984 and that bill was paid years ago. One time they actually gave me the name of the person they were meaning to call, and I was not that person. A few different callers said they would fix the issue. It's not me, so I'm not going to do anything else.

- BigA replies to DelaneNot going to do anything, so you like getting the calls? Further, you like not giving them the opportunity to pay you big bucks for the harassment? You can take the advice on page 6 of this thread or ignore it and expect more calls. Your choice.

- BeverlyCalled me at 10:51 AM EST 11/19/2016. Caller ID just said Toll Free Call. A woman just said Hello on my voicemail but left no further message.
- BrittaniKeeps calling the texting/phone app number I downloaded so I looked it up and see you guys saying it's a medical bill collector, only I don't have any outstanding medical bills and I've only had the app for a few weeks.... they never leave a message
- dotjones replies to Discome| 1 replyMEDI-CREDIT keeps calling me too. This is a medical bill that I have already disputed and mailed them all the information on. I signed an agreement with the hospital to make monthly payments of $100 for 24 months and after paying 14 of those 24 payments ($1,450.) The hospital turned me over to a collection agency when I kept my word on the contract and the hospital waited until I only owed $625. So much for having any trust in the Metropolitan Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
- SharonThis # has called me twice in two days. Thing is, it's collection agency for a med center. I haven't been hospitalized in 2 1/2 years and my bills were ALL paid after I was home. I have gotten NO notices for outstanding medical bills in all that time and now a collection agency is calling me??? I am not speaking with them on the phone. Send me something in black and white so I know what in the heck I'm dealing with!
- Caller: Medicredit?
- Call type: Debt collector
- Sharon replies to michelle74Exactly! Same thing happened to me!
- JimNumber tried calling but got blocked. I have the 800 area code blocked.
- J replies to KaleyJust so others can research for themselves....
You must be trying to refer to the FDCPA. That's the Fair debt collection practices act.
I think while you may be correct about not being called by recording without your advance permission, I am not sure that the FDCPA is the law that covers that. If I were looking for a hint on which law contains those provisions, I would look at the frequently asked questions or similar sections of the FCC (Federal communications commission) web site.
Hope that this helps
J - GigiI kept getting calls from this number and finally answered just to see who was calling. Medi-credit automated message for another person, I chose option 4 that the calls were in error and no more calls.

- Rita Walck| 1 replyI just want these calls to stop. I have already paid my bill to the clinic, right after they turned it over to them.
- Caller: Medi Credit
- Call type: Debt collector
- BigA replies to Rita WalckThere are numerous posts in this thread that tell you how to make the calls stop. I've made two of them, and CWG40 has made one as well. You can easily make those calls stop, all you have to do is take the time to learn what you should already know about debt collection and use the law that was written to protect you to your advantage. ©
- JimYep, its MediCredit all right. They started calling me about six weeks ago, even before they sent me a written "bill." Like others, I don't answer their calls. Two weeks ago I finally got a written bill and I responded -- in writing -- that I am stilll disputing the bill with the provider and I "hope they will be patient." This morning? Another phone call. Maybe nobody there is literate enough to read and write.

Reviews & Complaints
BBB has received a pattern of complaints concerning Medicredit, a collection agency.
The complaint patterns primarily allege calls made to consumers who do not owe a debt, consumers indicated they were not aware of the debt owed; requests to remove negative information from credit reports not granted and overall poor customer service.
On July 7, 2015, Medicredit responded to BBB letter regarding the patterns of complaints. Medicredit informed BBB they do not purchase the debt. Hospitals and doctor's refer their clients to Medicredit to collect on unpaid debt. Medicredit sends consumers letters informing them of the debt. The consumer has 30 days to respond, if consumer does not respond, Medicredit will place a phone call to consumer. If the consumer does not respond to the letter and phone call the debt is reported to the credit reporting agencies, and at this time it is placed on the consumer's credit report. Medicredit reported that it conducts research on each consumer who owes the debt and felt their staff is trained to provide professional service.
According to Medicredit, it averages 200,000 consumer contacts each month and has 15 call centers.- Caller: Informational post

- Amber replies to dotjonesI am currently paying the hospital and these people are calling me. I don't think that's legal. How can they collect on a bill the hospital is accepting payments for??
