- BigA| 1 replyYou need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter. You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to. Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment. If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- Carnell| 2 repliesIf these people say that they are a collection agency for a hospital hill then you tell them that you do not have a contract with them and all matters will be taken up with the hospital and if they are persistent in calling you then you take the hospital to federal court for harrassment for they have no right in selling your debt to a third party without your consent cause that is breaking the hippa regulation on private confidentiality which is a no no.
- Caller: Medicredit
- Call type: Debt collector
- Lurker replies to Rs2000Sorry to say this, but Congress (house and senate) don't work for us, they work for the big corporations, including the ones that own companies like this one. Your reps are in the back pockets of these companies, and write bills favoring them in exchange for "gifts" and "campaign contributions". Nothing will EVER be done about these low-life bill collectors.
- JM| 1 replyThese people buy these "accounts" and harass you for payment. All they can get is profit. The calls are computer numbers so if you block one another takes its place. Talking to them is fruitless. The medical doctor, hospital, etc have already written the debt off and these people are like leeches. Just don't answer any calls like this.
- Call type: Debt collector
- ChristopherThey have called 3 yes I'm 15 minutes but will not say anything.
- Caller: Unkmoen
- unlistedGot a call from this number, and the guy didn't even say hello, just asked for verification of name, dob and address without providing a reason for asking. He said he couldn't say what it was in regard to without my information being verified first. After declining to do so on the grounds of not doing business with unknowns on the phone, was wished *good luck.* Since he only demanded information and gave nothing, he is an unknown nose of a person.
- ANNOYEDThey are calling from medi-credit. It's never a person; only a machine that tells me to call them back. I don't have time for that.
- Caller: MEDI-CREDIT
- Call type: Debt collector
- AnnoyedThey keep calling and it is making me nervous. If I owe, send another bill.
- Call type: Debt collector
- DennisIt's a scam agency. they wanted me to pay a bill for an ER visit within the last year, and j haven't even been to the hospital for 3 and a half years. It's a BS company.
- Call type: Debt collector
- Christopher replies to ronIt is a medical bill collection agency owned by HCA. We were rear ended and our lawyer sent the hospital a notification of representation. They sent the bills to the hospitals lawyer thinking it was ours. DO NOT TALK ON THE PHONE. Send them written communication. I have power of attorney for my wife and they refuse to deal with me. THEY WILL report to all 3 credit bureaus and trash your credit. My wife was billed $3000.00 for an x-rays that an assistant read wrong. Once it was properly read she was called back for emergency spine stabilization.. $1890 for a physician assistant to improperly interpret and treat. The Dr. Supervising was at a New Years Party intoxicated.
- JustMe replies to JMThe accounts aren't bought. They have a contract with the hospital. Had an account on my credit. I decided to call the hospital and verify. Maybe you should reach out to the hospital.

- Not Buying ItI'm a career fraud investigator, and I just received a recorded phone message from this number claiming to be a "debt collector calling on behalf of Valley View Medical Center...." As others have pointed out, this number is listed to Medicredit. We have no outstanding bills, medical or otherwise, and we never answer or return calls to presumed scammers.
- Caller: Medicredit
- Call type: Debt collector
- Not Buying It replies to JustMeThat is very good advice, but in my case, the alleged hospital Medicredit refers to doesn't even exist in our state, and we haven't been to a hospital. Either they've reached a wrong number, or they've been misinformed, or they're just scammers.
- Not Buying It replies to BigABig A, Excellent information and advice! Thank you.
- informedThey call me and play a recording. It says that they want to talk with me about a business deal. I don't do business with strangers over the phone so I hang up.
I have read here that they are collecting for medical bills. I don't owe anyone.
Never the less there is an FCC rule that you no one except a non for profit or political polling agency can legally call you and play are cording.
if they are a medical collection agency or collection agency of any kind they are required to send you a bill, all you have to do is informthemof that.I have been doing that with these bogus calls and it usually stops them.- Caller: bussiness deal recording
- Call type: Debt collector
- SMH replies to STOP| 1 replyThere was an investigative report done here (KC) that learned during the financial crisis many collection companies bought up outstanding medical bills for pennies on the dollar. Since then, many of those bills have been forgiven but the collection agencies are sucking wind on the money they shelled out for the debts so they continue to try and collect. Under law, if you request a written statement they HAVE to provide one. If they don't, they are in violation and you can challenge the debt. Many organizations know the debt is no longer valid. BUT, some are legit. If you owe on a medical bill, make payments on it. Hospitals generally don't care what you pay as long as you keep paying. And most times you can pay to the hospital directly, which means you won't have to pay interest or collection fees.
- Kaley replies to Sue| 1 replyIf you sent them a written notice not to call you and that you would only accept mail as correspondence you do have a right to take them to court, especially since they continue to call you using automated recordings which is against the FTCPA which states that no business can call a cell phone or landline with an automated recording without the express permission of the owner of that number. Just a thought....look up consumer rights lawyers in your area, nine times out of ten they will work the case and only take payment of part of the settlement if they take it to court and win.
