I just received a letter from Fresno CA 93888-0010 saying that I have a penalty charge of 5000 dollar's from a frivolous tax return from 2016 but what's funny about it it's that the IRS don't ever put the whole security number in numbers the put xxx xx and then the last four numbers well my letter has all my number exposed and to me this is a scam I will find out tomorrow when I call the real IRS because I know I don't own them nothing specially IRS from Fresno CA.

Instead of calling the IRS at their known, published phone number you called this number?  Tell me, how could you know beyond a shadow of doubt that you were really talking to the IRS and not some scam outfit?

It is the real IRS and it is on their website.

Getting a call from this number,  yes, I would be skeptical of it being a scammer spoofing it. Since you got a letter telling you to call it, then I would believe that letter is from the real IRS.
Scammers do not give a legitimate number to call back to, since they can't scam you if you don't talk to them. Scammers who impersonate Gov agencies don't usually send letters via US Mail either, since they can be traced and it is a Federal Offense.

I received the same letter that asked me to verify my taxpayer number. I look up the address of IRS, and it seems it does not match. I do not know if it is a scam

Well, if you looked up the address of the IRS, you must have seen their official phone number so you could always call them and ask if they sent you a letter asking to verify your taxpayer number.

Your "taxpayer number" is issued by the Social Security Administration unless you have a business in which case the number is issued by the IRS.  In either case they would not need to "verify" it.  It would be on previous 1040's and on your Annual SS record which you can access from the official SS website.

You should look up "Caller ID Spoofing" and then you would not look quite as foolish as you just have in your post.  Both the FCC and Wikipedia have some very, very simple to understand explanations of what it is.

I did not receive a call but a letter with this number as “contact number”.  The return address was Austin TX.  The letter does not contain the usual identification information which the IRS uses in its letters.  It also contains an incorrect zip code above my address.  Too much in the letter looks fraudulent.

Today is 9/28/21. I just got a letter with phone number claiming it is the IRS. Saying I made much more money than claimed on my taxes to receive RRC. I filed single, no dependents. And only worked half the year. The letter wants me to call this number to appeal. There is no flipping way this can be real….this has to be a scam. Look out people. I’m not going to call, I’m taking this to local IRS office to straighten out!!!!

I received the same letter, it stated that my income exceeded $75,000 records show that I already received an advance payment of RCC. The social security number for one or more of my qualifying dependents was missing or incomplete. Makes no since to me, because I have no dependent and didn’t make $75,000
Not sure If I should ignore it, I think it’s a scam, but not sure.

Well, most people would contact the IRS at a known, published phone number to find out.  https://www.irs.gov

I got a form letter stating that I had an adjustment in my RRC payments due to the generic parameters.  I called the number at 9amCST and they were closed and said they were open between 7am - 7pm........well, I was with in the window.  When I went to my account with the IRS online, there were no letters showing issued and no adjustments to my tax return or stimulus payments.  I'm thinking that this is a phishing exercise.

This is a scam letter. Notice that it does not address you personally as "Dear Mr./Mrs. Lastname," and if you call the number it requests your SSN first, which the IRS does not need to verify you. Also, there is no IRS in the zip code provided in the letter and the actual phone number to respond to IRS letters ends in 1040, according to the site. Ignore this letter or call the actual IRS to avoid getting screwed by some goat f^cker in Pakistan...

Too bad that the IRS doesn't have a website where they have their official published phone number listed on it.  If they had something like that you could have gone there and called them directly to get an answer to your question.  Instead you will have to hope and pray that someone stops by and tells you the truth.
