I actually spoke with someone "polite" today and asked why they were calling me when my name was not in their system.

They were actually looking for my sister in law and our # was one she put down as a reference on her account and since they could not reach her they were trying to contact her through her references.  So that may be why some are getting calls about their neighbors etc.

Repeated calls to cell every 10 minutes all day every day. When told they are calling the wrong number they stared asking for my name and personal info. When I stated I am not giving out any information, they have the wrong person, they accused me of lying and said they woould keep calling repeatedly until I paid them.

    Really Really Ticked!
They called my fiance 25 times today. I am not kidding, 25 times!!!!!!!! I finally had enough and called them to put a stop to it, they wanted the last 4 digits of my social, "are you kidding me" I said!!!! I told them if they call again I am going to report them and they are harrassing us. DO NOT give them any information, there is something really wrong here. I want them stopped, it is absolutely not okay to call someone 25 times within a 6 hour period. I am going to report them and I would advise everyone else to do so. I may even call the Clark Howard show and tell them whats up with these frauds. UNREAL!

Sometime early in 2009 I got the first call from these fools.  They were looking to collect a outstanding debt or loan from someone I had never heard of.  I learned how to manipulate their nagging calls.  Then, today, I got my first call from them for 2010.  They called 4 times within 1 hour.  It's a good thing they are on my "silent ring tone" list so that they don't bother me while I'm sleeping as I'm a shift worker.  At the end of my 'day' I just delete these trash calls.

    Total Scum Debt Collectors

I just received an URGENT message from my mother.  "Dee Smith" from an undisclosed company had a very urgent business call for me.   She told my mother that it was very important that I got the message and called her back right away, and that "I would know who she was and what it was regarding"

Of course I had no clue who she was.  When I called the number back, it went into a calling queue, the computer operator never says the company name, and says thanks for waiting a representative will be with you shortly.  While I was holding, i google the number and found this.  It is so great that this service was started so we can let people know about these scumbags.

I have no issues talking with legitimate debtors, but these 3rd party sleeze bags who very rarely have a legitimate right to collect on old debts, and that flat out lie to get you on the phone drive me crazy!!!!

My husband received a call from this number last night at 9:00pm.  They stated that my husband still owed anywhere between $1,200 to $1,300 on his student loans and wanted to set up a payment plan of $60.00 a month automatically taken out of our bank account.  After doing a little research this morning, we found out that my husband owes roughly $800.00 on his student loans.  The callback number we got from "Julie Majors" last night was 1-800-668-5715, a completely different number from the real collection agency we spoke with this morning.

    What?!
Do not answer these calls. Some woman called my fiance's phone at 8:30 PM asking him to verify his name and address. He would not and asked who it was. She hung up on him. He then called the number back and they answered with a, "Hello." He asked who she was and she asked him again to verify his name and address. He would not and she said to "hold" while he heard a clicking noise. He hung up because he thinks that they were trying to trace the call. He blocked this number. Hopefully they don't call him from another or start calling my phone or our sweet neighbors! If they start calling again, we're taking action with the BBB and/or the police. They should be stopped!!!

They have been calling my cell at least 5-9 times a day for several months. I have not answered since I don't know that number. When I called back to see who they were I was on hold and ended up hanging up. No one identified who the company was, just said thanks for calling your call is important and a rep will be with you in a minute. I don't know who they are or what they want but I want them stopped!!!!!
    • Caller: don't know since they didn't identify themselves.

THEY TOOK MY IRS REFUND.  THEY NEVER CONTACTED ME.  I SPOKE WITH THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND THEY GAVE ME THIS NUMBER TO CONTACT WHERE MY ACCOUNT WAS ASSIGNED.  THEY WOULD SAY HELLO AND THEN HANG UP.  THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION SAID MY LOANS WERE IN DEFAULT.  I NEVER RECEIVED ANY NOTICE, AND THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION TOOK MY ENTIRE IRS REFUND FOR OVER 4,000.  I AM REALLY PISSED OFF.

These people have called me 20 times in the last 2 days, nobody on the phone when I answer. When I call back they put me on hold indefinitely or hang up, won't tell me what sort of business they are or why they want to talk to me. I suspected one of those scams where they bill you for your return call and filed a complaint with the FTC, but they're still calling me regularly and incessantly. Anyone know how to stop the calls????

I don't understand, by law, how any company can operate like this and get away with it.  This so called business called me 5 times in less than one hour!!!!  When I called the # back, the "switchboard" operator asked for my phone # and transferred me to a not so nice person.  When I asked what company she was with, she asked me if I was blah, blah, blah.  I asked her again and she started making statements like...I don't have to give you that information.  What a croc!!!!!  If I have to identify myself, why doesn't she.  I am contacting my attorney whom I have on retainer for other businnes today!  I hope he can do something about it!!  I AM SICK OF IT!!  If I called a private person this many times in an hour, I'm sure that could charge me with HARASSMENT!!!!!

Yeah you're right.....these people don't know that a 'cease communication' letter should be sent return receipt requested with the certification number on the top of the letter. The letter should be signed ' signature on original'. Once the green card is returned to the alleged debtor the alleged debtor should note the date and times the collection agency calls. In addition, if permitted in the alleged debtor's state, they should record all phone calls from the collection agency. The alleged debtor should then contact an NACA attorney and begin litigation against the collection agency for violations to the FDCPA.

    Silly alleged debtors .... :-)

Here's the number for their business (800) 829-0250.  I dialed extension 2 and chose option #3.  It got me to a person who admitted they were having difficulty with their system.  I say we call them 10  times a day to waste their time and disrupt their business, just as they have done to us.

Wow, glad to know I'm not the only one (well, sorry others had to go through it, but I feel slightly vindicated). I finally got to the phone on the seventh time this number called. They claim to represent one of my student loan companies (definitely possible, since I've lost track of them all, but who knows). I started by saying that I was irritated because the phone kept ringing but did not allow enough time for me to pick up. This is when she started yelling at me. I suggested she review the Fair Debt Collection Act and stated that I would like to see the claim in writing but would not simply take her at her word that I owe somebody $33,000. She said I was harassing her client by not paying a debt. I said I was unaware of any debt outstanding. She said I shouldn't be upset about a phone call. I said I wasn't upset about a phone call, I was upset about seven phone calls back to back and her rude tone. She hung up.
