Technically, if your payment is scheduled for the 1st day of the month and the 2nd rolls around without a payment you are in collection.  If you get to 3 months without a payment (90+) you are bound for foreclosure.  This is from the servicers viewpoint.

calls almost daily - no msgs sometimes and has left msgs claiming to be from JP Morgan Chase and another msg from Chase - appears to be a scam - cannot call them back without entering a ss# or full credit card account number - recommend anyone getting these calls to check their actual credit card or mtg. statement for phone numbers

Yes this number is Chase Home Finance. And yes they do call 3x times or more a day if you are late with a payment. If this is a phishing scam they've already got your information if they're calling you. It is normal for any lender to ask for the last four digits of your SS# and verify any other information they can to make sure they are talking with the owner of the account. And if you are calling them they need to verify this information to keep it confidential, so that someone else doesn't call in and do something with your account; like maybe divert a payment to their account or mess with bank account information.

Also all phishing scams are criminal, it's theft by deception, and in some cases later fraud.

I would advise you to check to see if your current mortgage wasn't sold off to Chase and they aren't just trying to make you aware. Because you know you could have thrown out that pesky information that was mailed to you.

Started getting a call from this number a few days ago. I picked up once and nobody responded.

I'm seeing from multiple posts, if this isn't Chase, then Chase has some kind of leak because I have a home mortgage with Chase as well - so far I have never been late on a payment.

Folks - the simple solution if this number is coming to your mobile phone, my cell has a blacklist. Just add the number to it. I experimented with this function with a friend - it is a "true" blacklist, it does NOT forward the caller to voicemail. Calls from numbers on your black list simply do not come through. I'm fairly certain most cellphones nowadays have similar functions.

Don't blame the banks. YOU chose to purchase the home and knew the payments before you signed at closing. Like any lousy investment you own it.....so tired of people bitching about the big bad banks....you needed them to buy your home and now blame them because you made a bad investment.
YOU cost ME money because someone is picking up the tab on your shortsale.

It's CHASE- enter the last 4 digits of your social and they will pull up your loan. Do you think the scammers also have your social? Amazing how many foolish people are on these boards.

Thanks for the info on the do not call number.  I entered all my numbers and hope that the non stop 4 calls within minutes of one another ever 2 hours STOPS finally.  Sometimes they are calling on all our phones at the exact same time - ridiculous!

To Chase or not to Chase.  Just don't give out your information to anyone over the phone.

Chase collectors call, but will not leave a message.  They told me that.  Also, I have answered the phone, and no one is on the line.  Apparently, I have been automatically dialled and no one was available to talk to me.  Meanwhile, I got a door hanger telling me to call (800) 446-8939 - Homeowners Assistance.  When I call that number it rings for awhile and then I get dead air for awhile.  No one comes on the line.  I have also called (800) 848-9380 because I have received notices telling me they need to talk to me.  I'm in the process of loan modification, which cannot be completed until I have a job, not just unemployment comp.  When I call (800) 848-9380, I get an automated answer, and then get told that my call cannot be completed at this time.  Or, I will be on the line for awhile and suddenly get a dial tone.  It sounds like someone picked up the phone and hung it up.  I was a assigned someone to process my loan modification.  I called her and left a message asking her if they would still modify my loan if I took a minimum wage job.  After a week, she did not call back.  I called again and got her answering machine, but the message said the machine was full, so I could not leave a message.  She never called back--that was two months ago.  I want to talk to Chase, and I cannot get them on the line.  Of course, answering the phone when a collector calls does not mean you'll get a real person to talk to.  I had one message left on my machine telling me the phone number to fax my paystub to (which I don't have because I still have no job).  The woman who left the message had such a foreign accent that it was difficult to understand.  I believe it was an Asian accent.  If only Chase would hire me.  I was born in the U.S. and I can be understood by Americans.  If I had a job, I could pay my mortgage.  Oh, the day I got to leave a message on the machine of the person assigned to me, I started out talking to a collector.  He put me on hold about five times.  He couldn't answer any of my questions, without putting me on hold.  After 25 minutes, he suddenly discovered that I had someone assigned to my loan modification and should be talking to her--that is the first thing I told him when I called, because I told him I didn't know how to get in touch with her.

The sad thing is--I didn't get my mortgage from Chase.  I got it from a local bank, who sold it to Chase.

Someone at this number has been calling my elderly parents off and on for 3 1/2 years, asking for someone with the same last name, but no relation of theirs and no connection to them.  It is a fairly common last name.  My parents have told them repeatedly that they had the wrong number, no luck.  My mother recently died, and my dad has been struggling without her.  These calls - two or three times a day -- are driving him crazy and causing him a lot of stress at a time when he doesn't need anything more on his plate.  I have written two letters pursuant to the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act, §805(c) “Cease Further Communication” and §806(5) “Harassment or Abuse”, asking them to cease all further communications.  It worked for a while, but they are at it again - driving my father crazy.  I have suggested that he change to an unlisted number.  I think if he could get his hands on them, it wouldn't be pretty.
