Brent called a few days ago and was rude when told he had a wrong number. He just called again and remained rude. When told he had a wrong number, he lectured that he did not and said I was the mother of the person he was seeking. I told him not to call this number again. He said he would remove it from the file and I would never be called again. We'll see.

Bent gave his location as Massachusetts and his number as 800-388-1190. That number is registered to Nelson, Watson & Associates.

THE NELSON AND WATSON AGENCY CALLED CLAIMING I OWED ON A CREDIT CARD MORE THAN  $1,000 FROM 2003. I HAVE NO RECOLLECTION OF THIS BILL AND THEY DEMANDED PAYMENT WHICH I REFUSED. MY HUSBAND SPOKE TO THE AGENT AND SAID THE CALL WAS BOGUS. HE CALLED THEM BACK IN A FIT OF ANGER, AND DEMANDED THEY NOT CALL US AGAIN AND THE HARASSMENT WAS CAUSING HIM TO BE ILL. WE INTEND TO PURSUE ACTION AGAINST THEM SHOULD WE RECEIVE ANOTHER CALL.

I just got a call from them too. I called and a VERY rude man answered the phone. I have NEVER in my life been talked to that badly! I told the man that I don't appreciate his attitude and he got another attitude with me and said "if I'm so rude why don't you take down my name, this call is being recorded so I guess we will see how rude I was" when I explained to him that I didn't care to take his name, but that I wanted my number removed he got another attitude with me and called me a liar.

If these people call you DON'T CALL THEM BACK! THEY WON'T TAKE YOUR NAME OFF THE CALL LIST, THEY WILL BE RUDE AND CURSE AT YOU. AGAIN JUST DON'T BOTHER CALLING THEM BACK.

If you do have an account with them and stop paying can they sue you? I am worried they are not a ligit company and I worry about identity theft.

They are very rude to me on the phone. I am a single parent and have been paying them $200 a month for about 2 years and they continue to charge me 29% interest. Can they charge interest on a loan that is in collection?

K.K.  If I were you, I'd get in touch with your local Better Business Bureau and the Consumer Protection Agency in your state and see what you can do!  $200 a month for 2 years is a lot of money to someone you may not have owed in the first place!

For four days now, always at 8:20 AM, we've been getting a computer generated call from 800-868-6418.  It says that (blank) needs to call the number immediately today on a very important matter.  There is no indication of who the company is, the reason for the call, or that it is a debt collection company.

We've rec'd no written correspondence about any debt from Nelson Watson.

Of course, given the "reforms" that Congress enacted a few yrs ago, it's almost meaningless to say that we ought to sue these people for violating the Fair Credit laws.  The lawsuit would have to begin in Massachusetts, Nelson Watson's state of incorp... and then it's maybe $1000 award per each indisputable violation by Nelson.  Yeah, right.  That stops the scumbags in their tracks; shaking in their boots.

It's a joke.  Guess what --in case the idiots at Nelson Watson monitor this website-- I'm not responding to any phone calls where you don't properly disclose your identity or the purpose of the call.

I hope the current Congress revisits our collection laws and actually puts some teeth into the protections available to consumers.  Of course that's highly unlikely since Barney Frank, the corrupt politco and head of the House Banking Committee is in the pockets of Nelson Watson.

Wow, go figure.  A Democrat lawmaker on the take?

I'm sorry to say KK that by paying these people you have restarted the clock ticking of when you can get out of the debt by an expiration of the statute of limitations.

The threat to sue by a collector needs to be weighed by the consumer. Bottom feeding collection companies like Nelson Watson usually don't sue non-paying consumers because their take of any proceeds has to be split heavily in favor of the local lawyer who takes their business claim and sues you in your hometown.  And it's only if that local lawyer thinks there's a good likelihodd they can collect on the debt that you've stopped paying on.

I'm sorry to say that any responsible consumer who begins paying on a debt after the debt has moved into collections has made the biggest mistake in dealing with these bottom feeding lowlifes who operate out of sweatshop like phone centers across America.

Chris Hansen's expose' of the abuses of the debt collection industry was aired on NBC's "Dateline" last night:

Maybe this will help to serve as a catalyst for reform of the current FDCPA laws, which have been on the books for 32 years.

I was informed I recieved letters, and I have never heard of them. I am not sure what it is about, but they keep calling during work hours when I can't talk. I have already told them to stop doing that. The number they called me from was 1-800-910-4572. Philip was the guy that called today, and he said he was from Nelson Watts & Assoc. They started calling my phone right after my dad died, and when I told the guy I couldn't talk right then, I was dealing with a death in the family (Mind you I was still crying) he got nasty with me and told me I would be prosecuted if I did not cooperate. I didn't even know what he was talking about, and I couldn't deal with it right then, so I hung up. I am so glad I am not the only one they are harrassing. They need to stop.

The number they told me to call back was 1-800-764-1325 ext. 2202

Automated service, no options to chose from, and directing that "This call is for....  (no name mentioned)....  This is regarding an important matter.  Please return this call to 1-800-868-6418.

Again, no name of the company mentioned, no name of the person they were looking for, and no options to chose from.  I've had my number for over a year, so they didn't just get a "reassigned" mix-up.

First and foremost for all you bashing Nelson Watson And Associates first off there is a statute of limitations to collect on a debt. Secondly if you paid the money back you would not have debt collectors haunting you. Now most importantly NWA I know for a fact does not use threatning tactics to get consumers to pay debts AND for your info we are a PRE LEGAL Collection Agency.
