- Reality replies to LAURAYou are sadly misinformed to this situation, and therefore a great target for a collection agency to hire as a collector. The vitriol that you so broadly toss in every direction is only right in a very specfic case, of a deadbeat who simply does not have the means and racked up senseless debt.
Unfortunetly, there are literally millions of good G-d fearing Americans whom would love to pay their bills but unfortunetly their businsses or jobs were decimiated by a severe economic downturn that was directly as a result of the poor judgemnt of banks and the insurance companies that insured their insane and what is currently considered to be a foul up of such historic proportions it nearly folded a world economy and there is no clear proof that we are out of the woods yet..
Now here comes the best part of it. You actually work for the very people you seem to hate the most. The ones that took too much risk and then asked somebod else to pay - the entire American public and the world for that matter to foot the bill -The banks...! Yes you, yep you! You collect for the very people you so ineptly lambasted here.
We are all always right exactly to the point at which we realize we are dead wrong. This is your reality call. Wake up and do the right thing. Research would I have said here and then walk in and quit - join the human race again.
Oh, and PS you are in effect collecting debt that the banks have already been paid in tarp and other programs... - Reality replies to HomerWow, Laura your just a very bad girl in general aren't you? You skip tracing little fool...?

- Bear Hunter★ ★ ★ The only surefire way to make collection calls stop is a Cease and Desist letter. I've used them several times in my life and they DO WORK.
HOWEVER
It's very important before you send one to understand that it WILL make them angry, and there is a possiblity that they WILL come after you even harder.
They work, but I'd say use them at your own risk.
You can find examples of them all over the web.
Make sure you send them certified so you can prove they received it.★ ★ ★- Caller: Dynamic Recovery

If you are considering using a "Debt Settlement" program, DO NOT.
DO NOT USE THEM. RUN. DO NOT WALK AWAY.
I used one and it danm near ruined my life.
The company I used did NOTHING for me but take my money.
I had to hire an attorney to get my money back from them, and I wound up having to pay my creditors anyway.
DEBT SETTLEMENT COMPANIES ARE SCAMS!!!! DO NOT USE THEM!!! ★ ★ ★

- Mel replies to LAURAHmm work for a debt collector much? Trying to rationalize your horrible job choice?
- j replies to LAURAFirst of all, what these debt collectors do is ILLEGAL- THEY do not have the right to threaten LIE or harrass any one for a bill- it is easy to say Pay your bills and they will not call, but that is not true- I do not have a right to call you and say pay your bills as you do not have that right to me, there is a legal way to collect on a debt, most debt are sold off from the orginal company so i guess the orginal company did really care at all on doing the right thing, so keep your judgment to your self rightous self -
- j replies to Listen and Learn LadyYes good information, !!!!!

- Debbie replies to LAURAThen please explain to me why they just called my cell phone, asked for me and immediately hung up when I said 'this is she'. I don't know who these people are and I wouldn't just offer up my bank information because they claim they are collecting on a debt I may or may not owe.
- Irritated MotherDon Van has called our home, my sons place of work and my son's cell phone after being told repeadedly that my son had JUST gotten a job (after a very bad year that included a messy divorce and his relocation to our home so he could financially recover). He was working a part time job fo minimum wage and has no prospect of being able to pay the kind of settlement DRS is creetn;lty seeking. He can't come up with even a few hundred dollars right now, and he's been counseled by Mr. Van to ask friends and family for money. Don Van is threatening, rude and unreasonable. I respect (and so does my son) that this is a debt that will need to be paid but the attack on personal charater and aggressive nature of the collection tactics is forcing him into an unnecessary bankruptcy.

- DsalvageOne Chris Anderson called demanding information about somebody I never heard of before.
I informed him he had the wrong number and he became a bit rude.
He kept calling me back, and we ended up in a yelling match.
He said I was lying when I told him he was calling my cell phone.
I blocked his number.- Caller: Don't know

- harrassed in IdahoThe person calling me from this number says his name is Christopher Anderson and he lives in Dallas, Texas. He stated that he wanted to speak with a number of different people. Stating they lived in my home. I asked what this call was about and whom he was attempting to contact. He said it was "litigation". I repeated several times he had the wrong party as several of the names have no connection with me. He continued to harrangue me. He refused to identify who he worked for and when I told him I was going to record the rest of the call and turn it over to local law enforcement, he hung up. I am calling the Idaho State Attorney General Office and giving them the information that was stated by this man. I am not in default of any kind. I do not owe anyone money and always pay my bills on time and in full.
- Caller: Nothing listed.
- george replies to LAURAYou are a self-rightous idiot. Don't preach unless you have walked in another person's shoes. If it is a choice between paying credit card bills or paying the mortage, putting food on the table, and clothes on my family's back, guess what, the credit card bills loose out. And don't kid yourself about the creditors being willing to work something out, they are just as thick-headed as your are. This is not a site for you to preach; it is a site for information, of which you have none.
