Calls from 800-900-1380 continued even after I sent a certified "cease & desist" letter and got the return receipt.  13 days later I filed a complaint against Penn Credit with Harrisburg BBB at
    https://www.bbb.org/consumer-complaints/file-a-complaint/nature-of-complaint/
and soon received an egregious response from Penn Credit--"Penn Credit takes pride in following all Federal and State Collection laws. "[no acknowledgement of receipt of my C&D letter]
"We received notification that we were calling an incorrect phone # in March 12, 2013.  The phone number was removed from out active database the same day. " [this notice was from Harrisburg BBB, did not involve an 'incorrect phone #, and, again no reference to my letter they signed for 14 days previous]

Another thing you can do which will get them off the phone in a hurry if there is a live person, and it is quite humorous as well, when they go on their little rant which always includes "this conversation will be recorded for quality or training purposes..." you tell them you do not agree to having this conversation recorded, they always hang up. They can not continue the conversation without your consent. It is against the law to record the conversation without your consent. You can also reverse it. Tell them you are recording this conversation and ask them if it is okay, if they say no, then say you are sorry you can not complete this call. ALSO, check your credit report. I found that a balance that was written off, and sold to a collection was being collected for more than the write off. I contacted the AG office in my State. The collection agency as well as the original company had to take a loss. That too, is against the law. Educate yourself.
As for having to answer your phone 24/7 it must suck when you have to leave the house to go to work?! Nonsense! That is why phone companies invented VOICEMAIL!

These people called my personal, DNC listed phone looking for someone who is NOT associated with my phone number and never was.  I called the number back and informed them of this.  I am sick and tired of getting continuous phone calls from debt collectors calling me about OTHER PEOPLE'S DEBTS!  Don't these butt-wipes do any research or fact checking before they start plaguing innocent people with their phone calls?  Some of these calls are looking for inlaws but some of them are for people I've never heard of.

Online lookup reveals the company as PennCredit, P.O. Box 988, Harrisburt, PA, 17108, 800-900-1380.  If they call again, I will report them to the FTC.

They are calling my parents.  I am a grown woman and this is ridiculous.  I have no clue who they are or anything of the sort.  I do not have this number in my recent calls list on my telephone.

These people have called me three times today (its only 10:54) and they have called three times already. Each time they will hang up when I answer. When I call back I just get a busy signal. I'm tired of these people calling me.

I keep getting messages from this phone number and when I call them back they want to know my name and my social security number before they will even tell me what they are calling for. It's a scam and I am reporting them to the correct party to investigate this company. They have so many complaints against them right now I am sure they won't be in business much longer. Unless they are letting the uneducated people they have for bill collecting take the fall for the illegal practices. Everyone please keep filing complaints against this company and we can make sure they are put out of business. They are bottom feeders, a boil on the butt of humanity. Don't let them bother you at all. File a complaint everytime they call your home or business. They are not important!!!

No one lives here with the name you seem to be looking for. I use the word "seem" because that part of the message is so garbled you could be looking for Jimmy Hoffa for all I know. Please focus your attention on someone else.

I have been getting calls from this number for over 2 months.  I have called to complain that the person they are asking for is not me and that I do not know of this person.  The first time I called, over 2 weeks ago, they told me my number would be taken out of the system within 24 hours.  Well, 2 weeks later I still seem to be in the system.  It seems that calling them does no good and they are going to continue to leave calls for this fictitious person on my answering machine.  With caller-ID, I do not answer the calls, as they would probably take this as my assent to talk with them.

this caller just rings and hangs up several times a day.  Does not identify itself. Does not leave any call back number at all.  I find these hang up calls several times a day most annoying.

This agency continues to place unwanted calls for a person who does not reside at this house. Does anyone have information on how to block this caller?

LOL!  Gunnut7 was bein' Sarcastic!  He didn't actually mean that you HAVE to answer every Phone Call that comes in...I'm sure he knows that, if you don't want to answer a Phone call, you don't have too!

There is no way a Phone Company knows if a person Does, or Doesn't answer a Phone call!  If, and when, a person wants to answer, or not answer their Phone, is up to them...Not the Phone Company!

Hmmm...Guess you can't tell when someone is bein' SARCASTIC!  Now, who's the one bein' stupid???

What I wonder about is why my 83-year old mother, who has stellar credit and is never late on any bill thanks to me paying her bills for her, is getting calls from this company.  Is this some type of scam where they're trying to get personal info from people?
