if you arer receiving calls from telemarketers then you obviously are no longer on the do not call list..your number remains on that list for only 7 years and is then put back into the system....and there is no way of checking your number because telemarketers do not hand dial each number....it goes through a computer program called a "dialer" and it automatically calls people

NO BRANDON IS NOT CORRECT - all numbers registered since they started are STILL actively on the list.

    FROM THE DNC WEBSITE

Your registration will not expire. Telephone numbers placed on the National Do Not Call Registry will remain on it permanently due to the Do-Not-Call Improvement Act of 2007, which became law in February 2008. Read more about it at http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2008/04/dncfyi.shtm.

LMAO! I researched this number last month because my mother, who is older, kept getting calls. I found the same as you guys did and called to get my moms number removed off the list. I got ahold of this really sweet girl Luseea, and she explained everything to me. Needless to say I signed my moms account up through the ConEd Customer Choice Program and the first bill came and even though I was nervous, everything in order and her bill IS actually lowered! Maybe if this company stopped calling people back to back they'd get more results because its actually a good thing but no one is going to listen if you badger them!!!

they asked me who was in charge of paying the gas bill and I said "Yes, it's me."...they hung up immediately.

Either they have some sort of voice recognition or they were waiting for me to say "yes" (I probably inadvertently put myself on some new call list).

Either way, they're somehow making money simple from annoying people.

...nevermind, they just hang up so you'll call them back.  What a scummy way of doing business.

gentleman called from this number.  identified himself as calling from 'lakeshore energy', and offered me a very low rate for natural gas.  did not know who my supplier was, or who he was calling.  since the area code is 919 is for part of north carolina, i am not surprised.

he gave me a extension number so i could reach him in his office.  it sounded as an open area around him, as a call center would sound.

if anyone is interested in lower gas rates one should go to their states web sites and find either a consumer's advocate or a public utilities site [i am in ohio and that is 'ohio consumers' counsel' at http://www.pickocc.org/].  there you will find a complete list of who is able to sell gas in the state and the price per cubit foot.

the very low price that lakeshore energy offered on the call to me is listed but it is a variable rate and as such no guarantee of anything.

try for a low rate but it is easy to do your homework on this.

I received a voice mail from Jonathon with "something" energy service (the name was mumbled).  He said he wanted to talk to me about our Columbia utility bill - even though we do not pay any utility bill directly as we lease space in a large downtown building.  He left the number 800-919-8021, x440 to call him back at, which I will not be doing.

Calls our business early in the morning on the busiest days of the week.  Caller asks to speak to the owners or managers that handle the electric bill.  When we tell them no one is available, they refuse to leave a message.

I get about between 4 and 7 calls a day on my cell phone (on the do not call list), usually about an hour apart, from 10-4, M-F. Every time I answer, except once, it hangs up on me, even if I answer on the first ring. The one time I answered, I told them that I rented and did not have natural gas service (landlord does it - they said they would take me off the list). Not! They didn't call me again that day, but they started again a few days later. So aggravating. I finally figured out how to change the ring tone for that particular # to silent, so at least I can't hear my phone ringing all day.

Everyone, this posting is part of a variation of what they call "fakeosphere."  Fakeosphere is where you click on a link and it takes you to a fake website which has supposedly postings or blogs saying how wonderful a product is to convince you to buy.  This posting is common, where someone from the company posts something fake that says how great the service is.  If you look up the claims, you will find them to be nonsense and exaggerated.  This company is legitimate, but using false claims to get you to buy.  Then you get roped into a long term agreement with cancellation fees in most cases.  If you give your account number they can switch your account pretending you gave consent.  They also claim they are "calling on behalf" or "calling from" your provider, making an assumption on who you use based on your geographic area.  Do your research and get things in writing before you give your account number out.  I asked everyone to send something in the mail detailing discounts and only 1 company did.

These guys are claiming to be from whichever utility services the geographical area they happen to be calling (I oversee utilities for a multiple location chain throughout the Northeast and have received calls from "different" utilities but provided this same number).  Despite potential cost savings - which are available from working with legitimate suppliers authorized through your local utility - I refuse to conduct business with anyone who misrepresents him/herself within the first 2 seconds of a conversation.  Not a wise business plan!

I receive calls from this number at home and at work, no less than 3 times per day!  I have asked repeatedly that they stop calling, but they continue to call relentlessly, and when I again ask them to stop calling, they hang up and call back within an hour.  When I talk to them, they say they are from NYSEG.  When I call their number back, they say they are Consumer Choice.  I have reported them to the Do Not Call website and the NYS Attorney General.
