Y’all need to stop your salty and slanderous comments. This is an official BofA phone number. Y’all have no right to spread fake news, act fake, and cause drama. Take a seat.

So when a scammer spoofs the number, would that be satisfactory to come and complain about it or is that also just too salty for y'alls drama queening?

I suppose you'd also like Bank of America to quit "slandering" itself .... a term which should really be struck for "libel". Excerpts from a BoA FAQ follow, emphases mine:

    > How do I recognize fraudulent text messages that appear to be from Bank of America?

Just as criminals try to steal from people through email fraud, they also try to steal through text message fraud. ... A criminal sends a text message intended to trick you into replying with financial or personal information or clicking on a link that will sneak a virus onto your mobile device.
    ....
Don’t respond to a text message that requests personal or financial information. Bank of America often sends messages from SMS short numbers for alerts, but we will never ask you for personal or financial information in a text message.

    > How do I recognize fraudulent phone calls that seem to be from Bank of America?

.... A criminal calls and poses as a legitimate bank or trusted financial service and tries to trick you into providing your financial or personal information. Often the caller notifies you of a non-existent alert or some sort of urgent matter as a way to trick you.

Unfortunately, caller ID is not always a reliable way to confirm the identity of the caller: Caller ID can be manipulated to make a call from one number appear to be from another number. Never share any personal or financial information with anyone unless you are absolutely certain who you’re speaking with.

Recognizing Fraud FAQs - Bank of America

P.S. - The day someone uses "y'all" on 800Notes and fails to follow that with shamelessly ignorant chain-yanking will be like finding a Mega Millions jackpot stub abandoned in an empty parking lot.

Did not receive call as the message went directly to voicemail. In short the message says that I logged in to request passcode. Do not call the number back, a scam caller hungry for your personal information! Always check banks main website on your browser to confirm if a number belongs to them. Do not return the call! Claims it's from Bank of America.

Received a call from caller ID listed as Bank of America.   They left the following message.   "This is Bank  of America calling to assist you with the authorization code you requested.  Since we were unable to reach you, you will have to request a new authorization code.  If you did not request a code reset please call us at 8009336262.  Thank you for doing business with Bank of America. No, this is NOT a valid extra security step. I have been getting these text messages non-stop telling me here is the security code I requested. First of all, I never requested it, and second of all, I never set the number they are calling to send me security alerts on. I set it up for EMAIL only. The number they are texting to is not a number associated with my account. It is my work number and it is quite odd that I keep getting these security code text messages on my UIA BOFA account. As soon as I called the phone number given to call if you did not request the code, the text messages stopped. And that is without my giving any information. I just called to see who the number was, and the I hung up. That’s it. It stopped.

My elderly parent got an email from this number.  I never respond to these calls so I don't know it was official.  I go into the bank account and check to see if there were any messages.  If there aren't, I delete and/or block the number from my phone.

I had a text with this number it gave me a verification code. Then wanted me to sign in to verify my identity. Well I use touch. So I did not use my password. I figured something fishy there. I figured if I used my sign password that someone would be able to access my account
