I got 2 calls from this number today and the Mr. Number app on my phone indicated it as a possible spam. Then I received 2 text messages saying I needed to enter a verification code to complete a transaction to Mr. Yang. Checked my account and didn't see anything suspicious. However I'll keep monitoring it in the next few days just in case.

They ask for a Kathern, and I just assumed she had my cell number before I did. I've had a few other  calls and would ask for Kathy. But I  didn't tell them who they were talking too. After seeing the other posts here, glad I didn't give them any info.

Got a call from what they claim to be Wells Fargo. The caller ID showed Wells Fargo's number for Bill Pay (800-956-4442 <<== REAL Number), but was left a message to call back this number (877-329-7736 <<=== SCAM NUMBER). When I called back, they asked for my Account number - Banks NEVER ask for full account numbers over the phone. Just in case, I hung up and called back Wells Fargo directly. They confirmed that they do not see this phone number in their system and they  DO NOT ask for account numbers over the phone.
This is a SCAM, please do not share your information over the phone!

I did not receive a call from this number, but this number was mentioned as a call back number in a suspicious email from Wells Fargo. I got an email that says that due to insufficient funds, they had to cancel the transfer between two accounts. The accounts were shown as xxxxxxx1234

These accounts don't say anything to me and I have not made any transfers at all. Although this should be a legit Wells Fargo number, I don't trust it at all and reported this email to Wells Fargo.

A man said he was with Wells Fargo.  BUT he asked me for my bank card number as well as my checking account number.  When I said I would not give this information he said he would email my bank account.  The bank even states in writing on their website to NEVER give out this information.  I called the bank and they said - NEVER GIVE OUT #"S.  I gave them this number and told them it comes up as Wells Fargo so they need to trace this back to find the party responsible.  Regardless of whether or not this is Wells Fargo, they should NOT ask for your bank account numbers!

    Beware Maybe It's Not WF
I just got a call this morning, they claimed to be from WF regarding a transaction i paid online from a WF to an insur. company, and said that's all she can tell me, and needed to verify either with my WF account numbers or the ATM numbers, as soon as i said i do have my ATM card with me....she said "read it to me!" a command sounded like for the kids. When i said "no i can't give you that!" she replied "Okay i understand" then hung up. I don't give a rat if that was a reall customer call from WF and if they will kick me out of my house said i didn't made an insur payment or whatever! I checked online and found this page...be very careful people!

I was thinking....this may be an insider job? The caller (she) actually named the correct insur company that i have on file. Regardless, be very careful people.

It is Wells Fargo. Those I have spoken with there are rude, unhelpful, unable to understand a problem and not willing to listen.

I too like you guys were not called but sent an email to me with the same crap as you guys.  Here is how l handle things like this.  Please read what l write before making any comments.  First thing l realized it was BS. When  first read it.  Was that l had not contacted the bank.  For a while with any problems. If it was my broker. The email.  Makes. Notes that it is coming from them.  Second thing that gave this away that it was a scam was that the email address they contacted me on. I have never received or sent them any emails on. I am not one of the smartest person on this earth. However I would lie to think l do have good. Good common sense.  I trust no one. Not even a family member.  Start off from there. Kidding aside just use your good judgment that you have. Please don't jump right on it.  These scammers are smarter than we are.  They spend very minute of their spare time thinking how to rip you off.  So tread lightly my friends. You are. Now coming up against a pro

I believe this is a scam.  I was trying to log onto my WF online account when I got a message that said I was "temporarily disabled" and that I needed to call this number.  I know I entered in my username and password correctly, so I'm no sure why I even got that message, but I decided to call anyway.  When I called the number, the voice recording kept asking me to enter in my WF card number.  Wells Fargo would never ask you to enter in your card number for one and two, I've never been asked to provide that information over the phone unless I'm actually making some kind of purchase.  I hung up the phone and tried logging into the online account and it worked fine.  DO NOT trust this number!

Called in ref to a bill pay question. Asked to verify my achy with my card number. Obviously a scam because WF would never ask that over the phone if they called a customer.

UNAVAILABLE (Caller ID) calls will never be answered. I NEVER had any Wells Fargo or Wachovia account or do-did any business with any affiliate of theirs either. I also talked to a local Wells Fargo Bank and they do not recognize this phone number as any Wells Fargo either.

Yes, this is a legit Wells Fargo phone number, but the e-mail the scam artist sends had a link that asks for account information. They're hoping you don't call the phone number and, instead, click on the link. Trust me on this, it is indeed a scam!

Who are you calling stupid, stupid? You obviously didn't hear the whole story about this scam. They are sending an e-mail with a link they hope you use so they can steal your account info. To give it an air of legitimacy, they include a Wells Fargo phone number that is valid, but they want you to click on the LINK! It is, indeed, a scam, so stop calling people names.

I have been reading these posts and I want to clear a few things up. 800-956-4442 is a legit number for Wells Fargo. It is their toll free number for online banking, bill pay, quicken, and quick books support. Feel free to go to the legit site of wellsfargo.com and you will see it everywhere.

Here is where the confusion is. There is a lot of fraud that happens and it's like the old rule of 9 truths and 1 lie. Of course a fake email, text, or phone call will give you legit information. They want to look real. It doesn't mean the phone number on there is fake.

From reading posts, I see that many have received "phishing emails". Don't take it personal, they aren't connected with you and some "closed account" or that you ever had an account. They won't even address you by name. They are random emails shot out there in hopes to find a wellsfargo customer dumb enough to click on the link. Those "phishing emails" may say your passwords locked out, you must sign in to verify something, or whatever. Real Wells Fargo emails do not have links to click on. If you click on these links, in emails that have the legit 800 number, they will take you to a fake site that mirrors Wellsfargo.com. It will prompt you for your username & password. YES, They do catch people.

Advice: If you get a phishing email it is likely random and they will never address you by name because they don't know who you are. Don't get curious and click on the link. You open yourself to viruses and other tracking issues. Just delete the email (wellsfargo recommends to send it to their reportphish@wellsfargo.com and then delete it), run your anti-virus software, then maybe consider changing your passwords.

Now, I know there will always be some out there in denial and call this a lie, but if you want to be intelligent, go to the website or call a local branch and get the number for online banking. Then call the number and verify everything I say. It's too easy to be in denial.

This is a legitimate WF number.  One minute after I did an online transaction with them, they called me from this number to give me a verification code.

HOWEVER, I don't understand why they wouldn't show their caller ID.  Anyone who gets an unsolicited call from this number is quite right to be suspicious.  If I hadn't been sure it was them, I wouldn't have answered it either.

Wow!  So many different kinds of comments.  Some time ago WF would call me some days or even weeks after I was into their branch, a survey to find out how customer service was.  How could I remember days or weeks later?  I told them to stop the calls, which they did.

Yesterday I was in the branch, and this morning I see there is a call from this number of my phone, which I had not answered.  Called the number, it was really their customer service, but the guy had no clue why they called me.  Everything is ok with my account -- that was my first concern.  Finally he said it may have been the Gallup survey again but had no idea how to stop it again.  I guess next time they call I will answer, if I get to the phone in time, and get them to stop.  And I will NOT give out any information.  And I will test them somehow to see if they are legit.  And report back here if I find anything hinky about it, if it is somehow a scammer making it appear it is a legit WF number.
