- JRThis number appears on the postcard I received concerning my online notices from Wells Fargo Bank. It is a legitimate follow up call and number. None the less, I never give personal or banking information to anyone who initiates a call to me. Enough said!
- Caller: Wells Fargo Bank
- Call type: Valid
- FedUpIFFFFFF this is Wells Fargo then you are not going to get a call back from me.
I just received a voice mail on my cell phone which lasted 6 seconds and was something said so fast it sounded like a burp, including some other number to call - not the one that called me. Basically, it sounded like those absurd disclaimers at the end of sales commercials with all the reasons you do not want to buy that product or do business with them all sped up so fast that you cant understand it, because they dont want you to understand it, because they're essentially scamming you out of your money.
SO, my advice to you, Wells Fargo, IFFF this is actually your number and that was actually your employee: take some of those BILLIONS that you earn from us in fees and such and properly train your employees on how to communicate with other humans. You know what communication is, correct? I see you asking for "Excellent written and verbal communications skills" in your job listings....
It doesnt look like you're hiring those with such because your employees' written skills are already known to be horrendous, based on what I've seen come back to me in written form. Verbal doesnt seem to be any better.- Caller: Wells Fargo - maybe
- Clay_TIt's right there on the Wells website.

I still wouldn't talk to anyone who called me from that number, or anyone calling me about anything financial.
Always initiate the call when discussing finances over the phone!- Caller: Wells Fargo

- Karen PTHIS IS A SCAM!!! I received a call from this number and looked it up. It "appeared" to be Wells Fargo per the Wells Fargo website. However, the call came in at 4:55 AM!
That tipped me off that it could be a spoofed number because Wells Fargo would not be calling ANYONE at 5:00 n the morning!!! (I was asleep and didn't answer...I caught it the next morning on my Caller ID)
I directly called Wells and asked if they had called me at 5:00 am. The banker checked my accounts and said there was NO INDICATION that they had called. She confirmed with her manager that someone has been spoofing their number, and attempting to obtain SSN's, debit card info, and other banking information....and then transferring money. Additionally, she said that NO OUTGOING CALLS can be made from 800-956-4442!!! That number is only used for incoming calls...a very clever scam. Wells Fargo is aware of this scam and are working to quash it.
If you get a call from a banking institution asking you for your banking information....hang up...and then call the bank YOURSELF from a number you have looked up yourself. THEN, ask THEM if they have made a call to YOU! LET THEM check their records to see if any calls have been made.
Only give out banking info to those calls that YOU HAVE INITIATED and ...and after you've asked if they called your earlier. THIS IS A CLEVER SCAM using Well's actual number (as is posted ONLINE)...but it is really NOT Wells Fargo who initiates the call. As the banker told me they cannot make any OUTGOING calls from 800-956-4442.- Caller: "Online Banking" supposedly Well's Fargo

- CWG40The large number of shillers basically posting to tell everyone how "legit" this number is, is pretty strong evidence of a scam.
This number is most likely part of a larger fraud campaign targeting the customers of large-scale financial or commercial institutions.
The large number of phony posts claiming the call is real, is evidence of con artists spamming the site to try to fool people.
One hundred and eight entries in this thread and I count 40 as shill posts.
At a 37 % shill rate, there should be no question that this is part of a scam. At least that's the way I see it based on my own research. I've seen percentages go even higher.
This scam is well documented. Simply google it out. Based on my research this scam has been going on since about 2008.
These type of calls follow a similar pattern. They all claim to be from groups like Chase, Citibank, Bank of America, Fifth Third Bank, US Bank, Wells Fargo, RBC, PayPal, etc as well as Credit Unions. Or claim to be CC processors. Or “Fraud Detection”.
All with the same type of postings. All claiming there is something wrong with your card or that some questionable purchase has been made. Or something similar. They all ask for personal or personal financial information.
Just part of the shillers criminal MO.
I've noticed the shill posters often use the same turns of phrase. Same old, same old verbiage telling everyone how "legit" the calls are.
Personally I think the group or groups posting this shillage-spillage are located in either the US or Canada, or perhaps both. They may also be working with scammers outside of North America.
In any event , never give out any personal or financial information to anyone who cold calls you. If there are any problems with your card, always call the number on the back of the card or the official number on the monthly statement you receive.
Call history on 800notes for this type of scam, so far. (That I’ve been able to find.)

- Debbie WReceived an email that looked like it was from Wells Fargo saying I needed to update account information. The return email address is chart@augusta.co.in. This was the customer service number in the email. Out of curiosity, I clicked the link to update and while the site looks like Wells Fargo, the address bar reads “rubbishy-booms.000webhostapp.com”. This is not Wells Fargo. I have never had an account with them.

- GaryH| 1 replyThis number also called me. It was a recorded call that gave me an access number as part of the 2-factor authentication process to access my online account. In this case, it was legit. I am not a shill. I just came here to post my experience with this phone number. Believe what you may.

- Tygerkat replies to GaryHWhy would you come to a phone number lookup site to post your experience with this phone number instead of a review site? And declaring yourself "not a shill" isn't going to convince people. 😸

- EB2This is Wells Fargo, though the caller did not say that in the message he left. He just said technical support and then mispronounce my name three times. After reading the entries here and seeing an e-mail from WF in response to a technical issue I had last week, I went to the website and verified the phone number he called from and the number he asked me to call. Issue is resolved (I hope).
- koreceived a call from "800-95644422", obviously one digit too many. it did leave a voice mail, entirely in chinese. similar to other calls ive had leaving identical messages. blocking
- Pissed OffThis number is not Wells Fargo. It left me a message in Mandarin Chinese. I think it is hiding behind Wells Fargo number. It also showed me 800-956-44422 with one extra digit. It could be from +86 (21) 6414-(3054 or 1524), used to hide behind China consulate. That same number from outside the country also left the same message to my voicemail.
- Anoymousthis number just call me dont answer them!
- OAPRang in around 3:44 p.m. today. Caller said he was calling from Wells Fargo and used my correct, full name. I think this is a legitimate call; however, I have been talking to Wells Fargo until I am blue in the face lately, and I just do not want to talk to them anymore. If they want to communicate with me, they can send me a letter.
