- Anon| 15 repliesThis is a legitimate call from Chase Debit Card Fraud Prevention Department
- Caller: Chase
- Call type: Unwanted
- Cindy replies to Anon| 3 repliesNo, this can't be a legitimate call from Chase, based on the experience I just had! DON'T give these people your information if they call you!!!! This number is listed on numerous other websites as a number that scams come from.
- Robert replies to Cindy| 1 reply800.978.8664 is a legit number from Chase debit card fraud prevention department. They called me and left a message when they detected suspicious activity in my account. I called Chase at the main number printed on the back of my debit card and confirmed that 800.978.8664 is from their debit card fraud prevention department. They then transfered me to that department and there was a pending charge on my business account that I didn't make.
- Chase Employee| 1 reply800-978-8664 is 100% legit.
I work for Chase & this IS a valid phone number to the Debit card Fraud department.
If you get a call from this number & dont want to give any info then call the number on the card & ask for the Debit card fraud dept
You may get a call from this number but they ask you to call 877-572-0188, that is the same department but it is the automated system.- Caller: JP Morgan Chase Bank

- Scott replies to Chase EmployeeYes everyone it is actually Chase -- I called and checked as well.
- JESI got a call from 800 978 8664 and also thought it was fake, but I called the # listed on the back of my card and they advised YES that's our fraud dept. and they transfered me... but I hung up and called chase again - explained the same thing without giving them the # and then they gave me the # of 800 978 8664.
ITS a valid #! - CaliThis is indeed Chase's Fraud Department. I just got a call from them letting me know that there was suspicious activity on my debit card. I checked my account online and found that a purchase I made yesterday was charged 3 times in a row. Thank you Chase!

- BN| 3 repliesThis is NOT A VALID NUMBER!!! I got a call from this number asking them for my credit card number. Of course I did not give it to them but called the real chase number on the back of my card and spoke with a real Chase Representative and it is a scammer who is trying to get your card information. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR CARD INFO!!!! CHASE WOULD NEVER ASK YOU FOR THAT - THEY ALREADY HAVE IT!!!
- LizDIt's legit! I just called Chase directly and verified that the number is indeed their fraud dept. When I called 800-978-8664 they were able to pull up my account using my name, I did not have to give them my card number OR social security number.
- JeffI just received a voice mail from this same number. I didn't call it back -- I went directly to the chase number I have on file and they confirmed that this 800 number is indeed a correct Chase number. I explained the fact the voice mail was from a man with broken english and that he didn't appear to know my name. She said they do have a call center in India and that's where this call originated from. Okay, fair enough -- but for all the money they save sending this work to India, how much did it just cost Chase to make a call, take a call, and still use an American body to get the job done?

- Robin replies to Anon| 4 repliesBased on my recent experience it isn't chase. When i called the "real" chase fraud department, they asked questions totally differently and did not confirm this number. who ever this is, calls you when your card won't work anymore because chase blocks the account. They want you to give up your info so the card can get put back on....DON'T give out your personal info. Call the number on the back of your card instead of calling these creeps back. Another thing that makes this number suspicious is the fact they immediately ask for your card number and PIN...Several Chase employees themselves said they don't do that...the people on here saying it is legit are not telling the truth. Also a police report has been filed....good luck to you all.
- PatIt is a legitimate number. I didn't call back because people were saying it was fraudulent, then went to buy something and had my card declined. If you don't trust them, call the number on the back of your debot card and they will transfer you, but will clarify it is the correct number. Save yourself the embarrassment of having your card declined in a long line of customers!

- VegasI got a call from this number. They asked for my full credit card number, my pin, my zip code and the number on the back of the card. I didn't give them one minute to finish asking for more info before I hung up & called the Chase number I know. They transferred me to the Fraud Department and they said I didn't get a call from them. They looked into it and after 30 (or so) minutes, called me back and said nobody from Chase called me. Turns out it was a "spoof" call where they had the correct Chase number displayed but it wasn't from Chase. So if you ever get a call from this number, hang up and call number on the back of your credit/debit card and take it from there. You will be much better off in the long run.

- marlo12/14/09, 1927h: received msg on voice mail. called back n talked to a steve who proceeded to ask for all account info, since i was not the one concerned, i handed it over to my wife who proceeded to give all the information. i then called the fraud dept of chase at 1-800-935-9935 and they verified this number as chase fraud dept. my beef is that something has to be done for the account holder to indeed verify that the person they speak to is indeed from the institution involved. they verify us but CAN WE VERIFY THEM?
- neal| 1 replyIn case you are still unsure to call 1-800-978-8664, I just called Chase and they do have this number for their fraud dept. So this is a LEGITIMATE number and you'll be fine.

- anonymousJust got off with Chase, calling the # on the back of my card: 888.646.2583. I asked to be transferred to the fraud department and they gave me the # 1-800-978-8664. I spoke someone there who was rude and short. She did ask me for my complete card number, as well as a lot of other personal information for security confirmation. She had knowledge of fraudulent charges on my account and told me the account would be shut down. Then she hung up on me. Overall, I have found Chase to provide terrible service, most of their phone bankers are rude and unknowledgeable. However, as suspicious as their service seems, unless some criminal has actually hacked into their system completely, and taken control of their phone lines, which I seriously doubt, then this number is the real Chase fraud department number.
- anonThis number is NOT a legitimate Chase number. I've just called Chase and confirmed this as a fact. Chase has turned this number over to it's fraud division. Again this number is NOT a valid Chase number.
I actually had signed up for the Chase security service which will monitor ALL of my accounts and all 3 credit services for any questionable activity. I also canceled my credit card per Chase recommendation.
Be aware that posts saying that this number is legit are simply shills working for this Phishing expedition.- Caller: 1-800-978-8664
- SherryThis is the corrrect number for Chase Fraud Dept. However when someone is calling you, never give them information re your acct. There are ways for people to manipulate the phone number that appears on your phone. Also when you call in, even if they ask and they are legit, for the safety of your account ask to be verified another way. It is not a problem because they can do it easily. Never give your pin to anyone it is your signature and if someone has it you are responsible. I have worked in the banking industry on the receiving end of those calls, so always protect yourself. Follow-up as in my case they were protecting me from some unusual charges, but they were legit and they removed the block from my card, (that I was unaware of). I never gave them my Pin or Account # for checking or card. And I am not Phishing as you require people to give you information instead of give it. Thx

- Marge| 1 replyI just called the number back and once I received a rep, he was unable to confirm who the senior vice president of the debit card fraud department was, Marc Heitzman. This concerned me, so I hung up and called Chase directly.
- Caller: 800-978-8664
- Forrest replies to MargeMarc Heitzman is the Senior Vice President of Chase Debit Card Fraud Prevention. I recieved a letter from him on official Chase letterhead. In addition I verified who he was with Chase. It's always good to check tese things with all of this ID theft going on around us.
