- Lara| 3 repliesThey texted my cell and then called my cell twice and left a pre-recorded voice message. Then they called my home and I answered. I believe it to be a legitimate Chase Fraud call. They didn't ask for any information and instead told me they were going to cancel my debit card and issue a new one with a different number because a 3rd party compromised the number
- Caller: Chase Fraud
- anonymous replies to Lara| 2 repliesSame experience above, however, the last 4 digit of the debit card they say is compromised by a third party, is not my debit card number at all! This is pretty strange as they got my name right. This number may be Chase's fraud department, but it is possible to spoof the number easy these days .... so I am going to call Chase main number.
- anonymous replies to anonymous| 1 replyCalled Chase, they checked with their fraud department who confirmed they did NOT make any such call and that my debit card account does not have any fraud alert on it and is good.
I am 100% sure this is a cyber criminal making robo call w/ spoofed callerid and picking random 4 digit number (for last 4 digit of your account to announce) to see if they catch some innocent victim. If you make 9999 robo calls they can hit a boat load of valid last 4 digit match. - nik replies to anonymouswithin a few minutes I got a text, phone call, and email saying the same as the above posters. I called the number on the back of my card and they confirmed that there was a flag on my card.
He explained that another Chase customer had reported some kind of fraud on a terminal that I also used so they were cancelling/reissuing all cards that had used that terminal as a precautionary measure.
For me, this was totally legit. - Stuart WilliamsThis IS a valid call from Chase fraud prevention. If in doubt, call the number on the back of your card and ask if the message that was left from 800-978-8664 is legit. (It is.) happened to us today. Our card WAS compromised and the information is totally legit. Be safe- call the number on your card when in doubt.
- Caller: Chase
- headsupThis number is from chase. I just got a text, call on my cell and one to my home phone. I had all ready called 800 935 9935 (number on back of debit card) and spoke with a OVERSEAS rep (when are they gonna learn you can't fool anyone). Anyway, seems some "3rd party" had compromised a load of debit cards and chase was going to issue a new card (numbers). I also have this number saved in my contacts so when they call.. I know it's an alert from chase and I answer.
- Caller: Chase
- CaptainClayCrashThis IS a legitimate number for Chase Bank. I just called Customer Service. They confirmed its validity.

- RhysI am currently on the phone with CHASE after calling the customer service number on the back of my card. They have confirmed that they did, in fact, issue the message alert to my phone as well as the subsequent phone voicemail message. When I attempted to determine just exactly what triggered the alert on my account, no one ( and I went through several layers of the company, seemed to have any information. So, although CHASE, once again, has proved to be totally incompetent in their communications with customers, this is, in fact, a CHASE number.

- JOHNThis is a valid number from chase . I called the number from the back of my card and talked to a chase representative and they confirmed its their number. They said that a merchant that i recently used had their terminal compromised and so chase was taking a precautionary step by cancelling all cards used at that terminal and issuing a new one.
- Mfc replies to CindyI called Chase and they confirmed the information as far as the suspicious activity. They are sending me a new card. Being a retired police officer, I'm pretty thorough about questioning the bank. So it appears this is a legitimate notification.

Folks, don't trust the "IT'S A SCAM," OR the "IT'S LEGIT" posts. Do yourselves a favor, ignore all the spam and comments, do NOT give any info over the phone, and ALWAYS:
CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD.
Always. Call. The. Number. On. Your. Card. Problem solved. - Thia replies to AnonFolks, don't trust the "IT'S A SCAM," OR the "IT'S LEGIT" posts. Do yourselves a favor, ignore all the spam and comments, do NOT give any info over the phone to someone who just called you and claims to be someone OR gives you a number to call back, and ALWAYS:
CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD.
Always. Call. The. Number. On. Your. Card. Problem solved. - JimMissed call. No message left. No unusual activity on my account. Also got a call on another line which is unknown to Chase. No email received.
- SuzeeCID said Toll Free Caller. Call came just before 9 AM. I answered a call from this number several months back since people here have said it's a legit call from Chase. It was a robo call using my son's name, pronounced wrong. He has not had a Chase card in over 8 years and neither have I. If the card really IS compromised it's THEIR problem. Didn't answer today and won't answer another. I would think Chase would know when a card has been canceled and an account closed!!

- Phineas T. BlusterI got FOUR calls and a Text from this number a couple of days ago informing me that my Chase Debit Card had been compromised. So I actually headed down to my nearby Chase branch to check into it.
The number IS legitimate--the rep at the Chase branch confirmed it. And the Text didn't ask me to do anything that was unsafe--referring me to the number on the back of my Debit Card, or their 1-800-935-9935 customer service number.
MY quarrel with this is the 1-800-978-8664 number was only identified as "Toll Free Call" and not from Chase. Also, except for the Text, Chase left no other messages on the two lines they called.
Chase needs to be a lot less sloppy with their calling practices, but the number itself is good.- Caller: Chase Bank Fraud Detection
- MylanThis is a LEGITIMATE Chase Fraud Detection!
I first got 2 text messages: 1 saying to activate a new debit card when it arrives in the mail and 2 Chase asking me to call them at 1-800-935-9935 for fraud prevention.
I then got a call from 1-800-978-8664 on my cell (I didn't pick up). Then I got a call from same number on my home phone (I also didn't pick up).
I called the 1-800-935-9935 on the back of my Chase Debit Card and spoke to a lady that said it was a legit call. She said that my debit card was in risk of fraud and that a new one was already on it's way.- Caller: Chase Fraud Detection
- KateI got this call from 800-978-8664 about fraud detection on my account. The guy did ask for my card number and address, so I had a really bad feeling that he was lying about being with Chase. So, I called the 800-935-9935 number on the back of my debit card. They did verified that the 8664 number is indeed one of their fraud detection departments and she also verified that my account is alerted for potential fraud. They are already in the process of sending me a new debit card. So, the 800-978-8664 checks out!
