- CBThis is a real call. But, be safe, just listen to the message and then hangup and call Chase directly. Our call was in regard to a website that was compromised with a stored credit card #. No incidents but they are replacing the credit card as a safety measure.

- Texas GirlThis is a legitimate number from Chase. My account was compromised and this number called me after my new card was issued reminding me to activate the new card and destroy the old one. I still advise one to call the number on the back of the card for more information.

- Jim CI received two calls from this number. Also an email from Chase stating my debit card was being cancelled and I needed to use the new one they mailed to me. Never received one. Based on the claims of SCAM on this site I called the number on the back of my Chase Biz card 800-242-7338. The rep says my card was 'potentially comprised' because of a transaction I had done with a vendor about a month ago. So I will be going to the local branch to have a new card issued.
Rather than arguing the validity of this number just call the number on the back of your card, people.- Caller: Chase
- SDI just received a call/voice mail from Chase Bank at 800-978-8664 regarding possible fraudulent charges on my debit card. Just prior to the call, I received a text from 33748 informing me of the same and the call back number in the text is 800-935-9935. Since it was just a recording, they stated they're sending me a new debit card. This appears to be legit as I looked up the numbers on-line. I, of course, will be going to my local Chase to confirm.

- DebbieI received 2 calls from 800-978-8664. After researching this number online, I called the number on the back of my Chase debit card. They connected me to the Chase Debit Card Fraud Department who verified that this number is actually their fraud department number. I was told that even though this number is connected to Chase to always call the number on the back of my debit card if I feel uncomfortable about giving out information over the phone.

- AngieI got a call from them and text messages (from a different number), I never answered, but I looked at my account nothing suspicious at all, so I don't trust this number. plus I looked at Chase's multiple phone numbers they have for various things and none match this one. I also get text messages if anything suspicious was to happen, but it wasn't the same number as the number that sent me a text today about it. I say do not trust this number

- AnonymousThis is NOT chase. I did not have any debit card with Chase and they left message with an unrecognized name said that my debit card is in risk of fraud so the new card was mailed. They called me 8 times. When I call my chase CREDIT CARD, they said even though the 8664 phone number was actual their phone number, but the hacker can use the software to fake the Caller ID and make the incoming call apear as their phone number. Be aware everyone!

- AQ replies to BNI got the email message that someone is using the credit card with large amounts and wants me to recognize the transaction. I called the 800-978-8664 someone is acting from the Chase Fraud Protection Services and asked me the SSN# and Card # on the back. It is scary I said I don't trust this people and I called Chase Customer Service to report they told me to forward the email to abuse.com to report the fraud action. - jTHIS IS FRAUDULENT 800 NUMBER
this number is absolutely attached to fraudulent phishing calls and emails. got an email with this number requesting personal info "verification" because they are releasing a new version of updated online-banking software. it requested that i click on a link and input account info. we reported it to abuse@chase.com by forwarding a copy. the wording and grammar was very awkward, like a non-native american might construct. it did not name a department but worded the email as if it would be from customer service. chase, or any real financial institution, would never, ever ask you to click on a link in an email to "update" info or give info over the phone. they would direct you to the official website and ask you to log in to update or check the account. also, their official phone numbers are listed on the back of the card. these scammers are very cunning. wise up, don't click on links, don't call fake numbers...call numbers on your card to verify things or go to official websites and log in.
additionally, here is an excerpt from an april 5, 2018, article we found online about the exact phony email we received, with that phone number. google it for yourself.
article excerp:
The email below with the subject: "Chase Online Notification - Online banking system update," is a phishing scam. The email message was not sent by Chase, but by cyber-criminals. Therefore, recipients of the same email message are asked not to follow the instructions or click on the links within it. The links go to a fake JPMorgan Chase Bank website designed to trick visitors into stealing their Chase usernames and passwords. This is why it is recommended that online users never click on a link in an email message to sign into their online accounts. They should instead, go directly to their online account providers' websites and sign into their accounts from there.- Caller: 800-978-8664
