- LuckyThis was absolutely a legit call from eBay. And yes, they do have trading assistants which can call outside of regular hours. I've been an eBay seller for years, and have several calls a year offering me advice as a Power Seller, but never asking for information. I even double checked with eBay, and was told this is a legitimate call. It's a shame that there are so many crooks out there who do want to scam us, that we become suspicious of all calls.
- Caller: eBay
- John replies to KateIt IS Ebay. I was on a call with them and got disconnected and they called right back, from this number.
- Katie Ann replies to jimActually it IS legit. They use this number to contact customers whose account logins have been hacked (since they obviously cannot communicate securely via email in those cases).
If they use it for other promos, then there may be other teams connecting to the same switches leaving the building. But o matter what Dept calls you, the number DOES belong to eBay.
Jim needs to research before responding. - Katie Ann replies to mattgyverNo one inside of eBay knows every number affiliated to the organization. Assuming they do is Arrogant. Even IT teams have trouble tracking that.
This number is in my saved freaking contacts from when customer service called me back to confirm my identity.
Ignorant ppl who make assumptions about how data is managed & tracked create problems for other ppl in posts like this :-/.
It's irresponsible. - Katie Ann replies to Ronin1111Trolling much?
- TunaThis was a legit call from eBay about an address verification for my account which I requested. Not scam.
- Caller: eBay
- Gre-gJI got a call from this number about 20 seconds after hanging up from talking to eBay customer support. She said they would contact me. Clearly this was legitimately eBay, but I don't know what other things they do from this phone number (marketing, etc.).
- Caller: eBay
- Marc replies to KateIt isn't a fraud. It is Customer Support. I had an issue with PayPal that required eBay's attention, and that was the number on caller ID when eBay called back.
- 801-545-1800Have any of you morons ever heard of caller ID spoofing? If anybody, representing themselves as an employee, cold calls you and asks you for your password, you're probably stupid enough to give it to them and you will get what you deserve. Maybe you should go to eBay and search for "a clue". Then, buy the cheapest clue you can from a Chinese seller with 12,987 negative feedback points in the last month.
- Caller: eBay
- Julie| 1 replyI left negative feedback on a seller. The seller contacted ebay, and ebay contacted me via this phone number to rectify the situation.
- Caller: eBay
- Julie replies to JulieHe is acting as a mediator between the seller and myself since there is a serious lack of communication on his end.
- AmesThis is from eBay. But nowadays people can "fake" their caller ID and make it appears to be from this number while it's not-- so without giving them further info, ask them to verify whom they are looking for (first & last name, to make sure they are not "phishing") and also ask for their employee ID, name, etc. Just remember, they are the one calling you, so they should be the one providing info and you don't give them any further info on the call. If they want any info, ask them for a physical address and tell them you will disclose via regular mail in writing, once you're able to verify the caller is legit.
- Mary_WReceived a call from this number, but it was within 30 minutes of myself talking to eBay, so it appears to be legit. What is strange is that whoever called left blank messages the first two times, and then finally started talking on the third call. The caller had a fairly heavy accent so couldn't truly tell what she wanted. Will NOT return this call unless I don't receive the refund that the eBay customer rep promised.
In future, I would suggest that if you have to call eBay, call from a phone number that you don't care if anyone knows about.- Caller: eBay
- eBay userNOT A FRAUD This is an authentic eBay dedicated customer service line. It is not a fraud. I have a problem with a seller and this is the number I got my call back from.
- Caller: eBay. Confirmed.
- Blndee4u replies to KCIt is a fraud it has been all over the real news, I received a message from eBay in my account messaging center warning about these calls, it's not from them this area code is Utah, eBay's headquarters is not in Utah simple Google searching will help you so
RELAX - cydI talked with eBay about a technical issue and got this call as soon as we hung up. They called three straight times! I did not answer.

- Brad| 1 replyThis number is good. I have talked to them many times over the last 10 years. Its usually eBay trying to sell something or an update for sellers or something. But this is NOT a fraud number. It is eBay. I never accept what they sell but I did call eBay directly after the first time and they told me yes it was legit. Usually from their sales departments.
- Caller: eBay
- MikeHuntleton replies to BradKeep in mind, just because the number is legit, doesn't mean the caller is!
Scammers spoof legitimate numbers to trick people into a false sense of security to answer their calls and attempt to get money or personal information from you.
This is why no one will encourage others to report of legitimate numbers, as they only confuse people into believing it is a legit call when a scammer has called them and they come here to find out about the call.
The conflicting reports here illustrate how confusing it is when people report about a legitimate number and this site focuses on unwanted calls, not legitimate ones. - DonLegit eBay team member, I was expecting the call but didn't know the last four digits, no worries.
- Caller: eBay
