- Williams Fudgepacker replies to Shana Gardner| 14 repliesIf they're calling you after 8pm, then they've violated the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collection Practices Act). You now have the right to sue them in civil court and file a violation claim against them with the Federal Trade Commission (www.ftc.gov).
If anyone else is being contacted by these fudgepacking @sswipes, file a complaint at www.ftc.gov. As a consumer, you have every right to fight back against money-begging debt collection companies that continuously harrass you. - John-A| 1 replyLooking for "Tara"

- MarkMcRotary| 1 replyThey called me yesterday and said that was a reference for a woman I had never heard of. Actually the gentleman was reasonably polite even though he would not say who he was or what the business matter was they wanted to discuss with this woman (I guess it really doesn't matter except for my curiosity).
He admitted that my name was either placed on the form intentionally by this woman or by mistake by the W & F investigation department. He said my name would be removed from the file immediately.
I felt it was a bit shady but as I stated the gentleman I spoke with was reasonably polite.- Caller: 803-329-9791

- HarassedI received a phone call from this number this morning. My caller ID showed the number and just said South Carolina--no name. The young man asked for someone and I told him there was nobody here by that name. So then he asked when the best time would be to call back, and I said there was no one here by that name, and I had never heard of the person. So then he asked me what my name was, and I said he didn't need to know that. So again he asked about the person he had called, and again I told him there was no such person at this number. So then he hung up saying he would call me again tomorrow, and maybe by then I will remember who the person he was. It is very upsetting to think he will keep calling and harrassing me. Normally I would have checked the caller ID and not answered, but it was early in the morning (8:00 AM), and I thought it was my daughter calling, since I was expecting her to pick me up for a doctor's appointment. I never thought I would be getting one of these annoying calls that early, which is why I didn't bother checking. If there is anything you can do to stop this, I would really appreciate it.
- MM| 11 repliesThey claim I owe $48.50 from my college that I graduated from in 1995 (UC Santa Cruz) even though my loans have been paid off since 1997. I have never received any letters from UC Santa Cruz, even though I update my contact info with tthe alumni association regularly and have received the Alumni bulletin quarterly since I graduated.
Interestingly, on the voicemail, they only leave the long distance # for you to call back and then it seems all other agents are always busy and it asks you to leave a message with your social security number.
On the website, if you try to access your account, it also asks for your social security number, even though the letter does NOT have my social security number, but does have an account # and pin.
This seems to have scam written all over it!
I know I don't owe anything to my college.- Caller: Williams and Fudge

- MLR| 1 replywilliams & fudge is a ligit collection agency. they collect not only on loans, but also any type of account receivible (i.e. parking fines, library, tuition) due to a school. They called me and said I had a parking fine which they provided a proof of debt. I had forgot I attended an event years after graduating and got a parking ticket. i thought it would go away, but they ended up finding me and I paid it off to keep it off my credit report.
I asked why they didn't provide any details on their voice message and only said it was a personal business matter as it seemed like a scam. they informed me there are consumer protection laws that prohibit them from disclosing any detailed information until they validate you are the person they are looking for. Also, they can't call past 9:00pm local time where you are located, not 8:00pm as a previous person posted. they have several sophisticated tools to find neighbors, relatives and friends of folks they are looking for. They will keep calling if these "tools" match up and have reason to believe you are not telling the truth. It's up to you to convince them you are not the person they are looking for. I know this only as i had a friend in collections who would talk about this stuff all the time and tried to get me to join. hope this helps out.- Caller: same

- Lena| 9 repliesIf you receive any calls from this debt collection company, file an immediate consumer complaint against them with the Federal Trade Commssion at http://www.ftc.gov
This company (and almost all other scum debt collectors) is notorious for using caller ID "spoofing" software to mask their true name / number. This is considered highly illegal in most states (contact your local phone company for info).- Caller: Williams & Fudge

- sasicatteThey reported me to all credit agencies for a parking ticket but did NOT notify me in writing of it before they did. I am going to contact a lawyer on these people since when I contacted them they are very uncooperative and act like you have a problem. I am disputing this with all three credit reporting agencies. They have also contacted me after 8 pm. They also disguise themself calling from Florida
