It's a shame that there is a even a need to have bill collectors, and especially on student loans.  There are many avenues to repay student loans in small payments and some cases you don't have to pay them back at all.  The only reason for student loans collections is irresponsibility and ignorance.  As for some of you who choose to post what you think you know about the FDCPA, you dont know [***].  Collectors call and dont leave a reason for the call, because Federal Privacy Laws prohibit them from doing so.  If collectors are calling relatives and friends its because the debtor listed them as references.  If they are calling neighbors it because the debtor or the references will not respond to the messages. Bottom line is handle your business and you want have to worry.  Oh, Ms. Gold, a score of 0 means you couldnt buy a stick of gum on credit. Thats something to be proud of.

This is the same thing that I asked for.  I DID take out student loans (which I am in repayment on), however I asked them to show me that this amount is true and correct and I would be HAPPY to make arrangements.  However to this day, all I get are calls one after the other, and all I have asked for is what I am legally entitled to...proof of the existence of the debt from the ORIGINATING source.  I refuse to double pay.  It seems like a SENSIBLE request!!  I have tried explaining this and all they do is accuse me of lying and want my banking/CC info to start payments.  I do NOT give that to anyone!!  Seems simple enough./...if someone requests proof, you provide it...SIMPLE!!!

    Do what I do...
Have their calls forward right back to their 800 number. You want to use the corporate number. It is amusing to know that they are calling themselves and harrassing themselves. What is even funnier is it doesn't cost you a dime and runs up their bill as their operator frustratingly tells them they have the wrong number over and over and over.

I got this call today, didn't get a chance to answer it. Soon after I got another call and it was "William and Fudge" Debt collection phone #803-329-9791. I went to "Westwood College online" and this is their Debt Collectors. I know because I'm still paying off my tuition bill...hurray.(Sarcasm)

But it's been a while since they last called me due to the fact I'm slowly paying my bill but it's paying so they don't bug me.

Here's "William and Fudge, INC." phone numbers.

I have tried numerous times to set up a payment plan with Williams and Fudge, I even finally got them to agree to a monthly amount on the phone (before they said they would only agree to the amount in full- which unfortunatly I don't have) When i asked for a simple statement in writing showing what I owe, my interest vs. collection fee amount and the agreement showing our payment plan they balked.  Now I cant get anything in writing and they say they will only deal with me by phone- this sounds fishy- anyone know why I cant get anything in writing from them?

Alot of us are trying to pay our bills but they wont let us! see above etc. I can not get them to give me my basic info in writing and they are starting to seem suspicious to me, we had resolved a payment plan on the phone but I can't get them to send it to me in writing. What reasonable explaination would there be for this?

Are you paying the bill to williams and Fudge or to your old school? I want to make sure they are legit before I pay them. I wish I could just send the payments to the original lender...

I have had these people calling for my son endlessly. I let them know he is deployed and as soon as he gets in the states, I will forward him the message. He was making monthly payments until he was deployed. They would like to know a number where they can contact him in Iraq. I told them if they get a number they are doing better than I am and I'm his mother. It is just a shame that they don't recognize the fact that he is over there, they could care less. They just want the last $120.00 that is owed. I was going to finish the payment, but thought differently after being asked for his number or address over there.

If it is your cellphone, save them as a contact on your cell phone, then set their default ringtone to "No Ring" When they call it will not bother you.

If it is your home phone, call your home phone provider and tell them you want this number blocked from harassing you, the caller threaten your child. If they say they can not, threaten to cancel your service and speak to a supervisor.

And we know you either work for them or get a thrill trying to intimidate people who post here. Williams & Fudge have been successfully sued for their wayward practices, and will most likely continue to be sued, over and over again.

No, they are NOT. They have complaints upon complaints filed against them, been sued successfully, yet still continue trying to strong-arm people whether they owe money or not. Check it out. Or ask your boss, he should know, you work for them, eh?
