Pick up the phone and tell them to remove you from their list.  They call on behalf of charities, and the do not call list doesn't apply to charities and political solicitors - it only applies to commercial solicitors.

right - the do not call list only applies to commercial solicitors.  for nonprofits, politely ask them to remove you from their list and they will usually honor it.

Note:  the company calls on behalf of non-profits.  The do not call list and fcc regulations don't restrict calls on behalf of charities, and the bbb isn't likely to do anything else.  your best bet is to answer the phone and ask them politely to remove you from the list.  they usually honor it.

I called the 818-591-8391 at 9:48 Sunday morning after getting two calls at 8:18 and 8:29 and got an answer.  The recorded message from Harris Direct let me remove my number from the list they were using to call.  Hope it works!!  They are really good at calling at mealtimes and early Sunday mornings--suppose their research supports these call times.  Still ........holes for doing it!

Call came from CanogaPark, Ca. Said DNC wanted donation over phone. I said NO. On and on about fundraising for election. Wanted electronic donation. I said No. Will send a envelope. Will still be NO!!!!

Calls repeatedly 7 days a week, leaves no message, very tiresome.  Am now getting mail they say I requested from Doctors Without Borders.

Good point, sja. Make it known to the charity that they are being represented by a pushy marketing firm. Many responsible charities will summarily drop their business arrangement.

I answered a call from this number, and guy said it was Doctors without Borders, I said I was driving, which I was, they call at least 1x a day, my phone allows me to Decline the call, and it automatically hangs up. They don't leave a message. If they wanted money badly enough, they could leave a message.
I donated to them during the Haiti Earthquake, but I don't think I will again, if this is who is calling.

It's beyond comprehension that any legitimate non-profit organization would contract with telemarketing firms such as this. I'm not sure which organization they were representing with today's call, but on their website is a list of non-profit clients. I've supported several of them in the past, and they are now on my blacklist. When I have time, I'll contact each organization, express my dissatisfaction, and inform them that I won't support any organization that uses telemarketing to raise money.

I've been getting these calls 3-4 times per week, also due to having contributed to Doctors Without Borders @ time of Haiti quake.  I've donated to this charity before, and never had the unwanted consequence of marketing calls.  I'm calling Doctors Without Borders to ask them to CALL OFF Harris Marketing.  The least the non-profit can do, I think, since I gave them $ and a phone # in good faith.  In the future, I will NOT provide a phone # when donating to any charity - either they take the donation or not, if the phone # is missing!

We get multiple calls per day from this number.  I do not answer when they call, but I did call back and got a recording saying something like "if you would like us to remove your number from our call list, speak the number clearly after the beep."  I did that.  We'll see if it works.  Seems like just when we are getting rid of one telemarketer, another gets our phone number and dials it multiple times a day.  I'm tempted to cancel my phone service altogether.

I have supported some of those charities in the past and I wish I could continue to support them.  However, I do not want any of my money to go to this telemarketer, so I will discontinue supporting clients of Harris Direct. For other charities, my new strategy is: contribute cash anonymously -- no check, credit card, or other source of contact info. Maybe that will prevent telemarketers from adding my phone number to their lists.   I may lose the ability to take tax deduction for anonymous donations, in which case I will have to make smaller donations.

Try communicating directly with Doctors without borders (.org) They may like to know this doesn't feel like non profit solicitation. It does feel like harrassment. It isn't going to promote good will or donations. What percentage does the Harrismarketing firm keep? Do they qualify as a non profit? Complain to your attorney generals comsumer protection office. Doctors Without Borders... PAY ATTENTION...
You are losing donations and alienating contributors not to mention losing the ability to serve the people needing your services. I try to do my 5%. I pay attention to the services versus expenses ratio. Don't donate to scammers getting rich on our wanting to help provide needed services.

Started getting calls from this number several days ago.  No message is left.  I am now going to start using the strategy of answering the call but not speaking.  It has stopped some of these kinds of harrassing calls in the past.

i noticed this number on my caller id about a week or so ago. everyday the number would show on my caller id several times. when i called bac the first time to see who they were the message came that the mailbox for this number was full. again i called and was message that if i did not want their calls then i should clearly leave my phone number. i clearly left my number twice and told them i would report them if they didn't stop. twice i answered their calls. the first time there was no one there. the second time a man with a very deep voice said "ms. wise". i responded with "how can i help you?" he hung up on me!
very irritating to be disrupted by this nonsense. i always tell charities etc. that call that i do not donate money over the phone.
