a 1am call on my cell phone

I got a call from this number after 11pm. My dad and my sister both got calls from this number as well and my dad said the message told him to enter his debit card number and pin. He asked his bank about it and they said they didn't know anything about it.

recieved a call on my cell at 7:21 pm , 1-26-10. first, i am reporting it,to my local athorities,then to the feds.  as it is a scam of some sort. they need to be prosocuted to the fullest extent of the law, and shut down immediately. i pushed a number , to talk to a live person , but to no avail. i wanted to [***] so bad. whoever this is, stop em NOW!. thank God they got no information out of me!.

i just posted a comment on phone # 1-843-884-6884. it was from merchant cooperative, not merchant circle, sorry. however this number does come up under merchant circle.

Telephone scam alert!
We have been alerted to a telephone scan which seems to be targeted to mobile phones and some say they are from Co-Vantage Credit Union.  The are calling to tell you your credit or debit card is being frozen and asking for card information, security codes, etc.
As always, never give out your credit card information from an unsolicited phone call.

received a call from this number at about 8:30 this morning (1/29). i was skeptical and didn't give them any information, thankfully!

Recieved a call at 5:43 P.M. 2/4/10. Hung up on me soon as I answered. Those little rascals...

8:10 pm..received an automated call telling me my credit card debit was frozen until I contacted the. Called them back..."Merchant Cooperative".

12:45pm Today. Got a call from them. almost went through with it but thankfully stopped!

Got a call on my cell from them at 5:58pm today. An automated voice stated that my Visa debit account had been frozen and that I needed to press 1 to speak to someone in order to correct the situation. I don't have a Visa debit card so I was immediately suspicious and figured there was some sort of scam going on. Damned crooks!

Received a message stating that my Visa debit card has been frozen.  I do not have Visa debit card.

Rec'd phone call @8:30.  No message left.  No answer upon callback.  I do not have a Visa Debit Card either.  Beware!!!

I received a call tonight on my cell saying that my Visa debit card was frozen.  I was worried because my daughter has the card with her.  I hung up and checked the bank online and no unusual activity.  No more than 10 minutes later, my wife's cell phone rang with the same message.  I called the number back and got a message stating the business was Merchant Cooperative.  Googled the number and this site comes up first:

This is definitely a scam.  sounds like they have a bunch of Michigan numbers.

automated call stating visa debit card was frozen. I don't have a visa debit card.  Tried to get to their customer service and no one answered....no surprise there!

Call says that your Visa card has been locked and to call an 800 number (said so quickly you could not write it down) or hit 1 to rectify the situation immediately.  The phone number goes back to Merchant Cooperative in South Carolina.  Tons of complaints on the internet about them.  BEWARE!  I do not give out my cell number to anyone but family and friends, and they called my cell (which is on a DO not call list).  If you are on a do-not-call list, file a complaint with the FCC at http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm  Whenever a complain is made on a website, they promptly deny and request a full name, business name, and telephone number.  Why would any individual want to post this information online for a complaint!  I am not a competitor (as they often say in their replies), but an upset individual who does NOT want them calling my cell phone in the evening.

Cell phone call that said my Visa debit card had been frozen and to call an 800 number to "reactivate" or dial "1". As I didn't hear the complete 800 number I dialed "1", got a poor quality recording so hung up. Knew it was not legitimate.

Got a call from 843-884-6884 at 4:35pm on 2-7-10. I do not give out my cell # to ANYONE but family. I did a reverse look-up at it came back as a landline registered to Merchant Cooperative in S.C.  with a web address of: merchantcircle.com.  I found all your posts at that point, and didn't proceed any further.  Thanks for all your postings!

Got a call from a "robot" telling me my debit card had been cancelled and to call another "800" number to access info regarding my account?

Should this number be turned off or traced to see whats going on? I think so.

More info needed!
