- BrentReceived a call, saying it was originated from Visa, and that my debit card had been deactivited for online purchases. - Bob replies to sjheckHaving worked in credit card fraud, its just extremely hard to track this type of fraud down for several reasons. The biggest one is that the police view this as a victimless crime, compared to other criminal activities that the police are always working on, murder, rape, home invasion, narcotics, identity theft just isn't a high priority to them.
Just be very careful on who you give your personal information to, best you can usually do. - UtahGot a call at work from a robot saying my debit card was frozen and I needed to call or push one to give information to their security department.. Very suspicious I think!!

BLACKSBURG - E-mail scammers are sending out a new version of the common phishing scam, targeting a Blacksburg based bank.
The National Bank of Blacksburg says fake e-mails, phone calls, and text messages using the bank’s name, logo, and website are being sent out to people in Southwest Virginia.
The fraudulent messages ask for confidential customer information, according to the bank.
WSLS has heard from multiple people in the community who received the phishing scam, and several WSLS employees have also received some version of the scam.
A spokesperson for the bank, which also does business as “National Bank,“ said in an e-mail statement to WSLS, “We want to emphasize that the bank’s own computer system has not been compromised. The bank does not solicit or provide customer information by e-mail, phone or text message, except in direct response to a bona fide customer request. We encourage any of our customers who may have responded to these fake messages to contact the bank immediately at 540-552-2011. The bank is responding aggressively to the phishing attack, but the best defense is to have educated customers who ignore these requests for confidential information.”

- SC Sand12:01 p.m. got a call from this number. We're on the do not call registry and that hasn't done much to deter jerks like this from calling anyway. So, the way things are going these days I DON'T answer the phone at all unless I know the number. Not even local calls. I hung up on them.
