Cell phone call from 843-884-6884 today a few minutes ago.  Voice mail says something about "security department" and leaves the number of 1-800-391-8627 to call back.  Thanks for all the posts to know this is a scam.  Ticks me off!

Received a call from 843-884-6884 as well as 615-932-2912 both trying to obtain personal info. on a debit card. BEWARE THIS IS A SCAM!!You need to report it to your local authorities,your cell or telephone co.,your banking or credit card co., the Federal Trade Commission 877-382-4357 and the Attorney General Ofc. 800-351-4889. I first called the Federal Communications Commission and they referred me to the the FTC and Att. Gen. Ofc. They took the complaint and gave me a reference # and I gave them my email address and was later sent a confirmation that it was being investigated.These people need to be put in jail!!!

Cell phone call that said my Visa debit card had been frozen and to call an 800 number to "reactivate" or dial "1". I ignored it since I don't use any debit card.

Received a call from 843-884-6884 today on my cell phone.  It showed up as being a South Carolina #.  Very annoying.

I just got a call saying my Visa debit card was involved in a suspicious ATM withdrawal from this number. Definitely sounded like a con.

Just received a call from 843-884-6884 saying that there was a problem with my Visa card and to call an 800 to clear it up. Huge SCAM! I did NOT call - just hung up!

I received a call today as well. Big scam, hopefully they get caught.

Around 5:45 P.M. we received a call on our cell phone stating that our ATM card had been disabled. To fix it, we were to press one or call 'em back. We thought it to be out of place, since we only use our card in emergences. Immediately we checked this number on the Internet, and this site came up, stating the other complaints on this number. Very probably a scam!

All four people in our household rec'd a call from 843-884-6884. Same SCAM!!  UGGG

similar to the other posts, except the call was disconnected before I could answer.  Since I don't give out my number and did not recognize the number, figured it was a scam.

I got a call from the number 843-884-6884 in my cell phone today(march 6, 2010) at 9pm. I was an automated voice saying my debit card had been suspened from all shopping purchases and ATM withdrawls. I don't have a debit card, so i knew it was obvouisly a scam. My parents and sister also got a call from the same number but didn't answer.

Just got the call 5 mins ago....I dont answer numbers I dont know....so I decided to do a search...this was the first thing that popped up....glad I decided to search.

Got call this am saying it was from security dept. of visa and my account was being restricted.  I called my Visa information number because the calling # and the # given to contact them were neither of the numbers I had for my Visa.  The scam call asked me to call their  security Dept. at 800-321-8672  and my phone recorded the number that called me as being 843-884-6884.  When I called the Visa help number from my account they asked me if I gave out any information and I said no.  They said it wasn't them that called and was a scam me and just to ignore it.
I cannot beleive in this day and age these numbers can not be tracked and the perpetrators be identified and punished.

Got the same thing today at 11 AM, March 9, 2010.  I followed the prompt for security and was asked for my d-card number-knew it was a scam.

The machine message was also garbled and unclear-almost like a bad reception.

I reported this to my bank with the phone number.  Why can't people work at a real job instead of scamming honest ppl?

I received a call my card was on hold for purchases and atm use by the security dept.  I dont have a credit or debit card

I received a call from this number yesterday (3/9/10) at 10:27 am, I didn't have my cell phone on me so I missed the call. They didn't leave a message. Thanks for the heads up, everyone!

Just got a message that I missed a call from 8438846884. Thanks to this forum I know that it is a scam. Now how they got my tracphone number is a mystery.
