    These calls have been under investigation by local and federal law enforcement authorities.  Most importantly, Merchant Cooperative has absolutely nothing to do with the problem, and has no information about the message, its contents, or who sent it.  Again, I cannot overemphasize that the name “Merchant Cooperative”  and our local phone number were used without authorization in a pre-recorded message by an unknown person concerning a problem that may or may not exist, and that does not in any way involve Merchant Cooperative.  We apologize to anyone who may have received this fictitious message, and Merchant Cooperative assures its customers that it remains ready, willing, and able to continue to provide the superior level of credit card processing services that it has always provided to its merchants.

Both me and my husband got calls at 2:40am in the morning from this number my message said to push 2 to re-activate my account but that was all that was said in the message.Didnt tell me what kind of account I needed to to re-activate,I jsut disregarded.

June 03, 2010 at 9.49 PM this robot voice calls to tell me my ATM account was compromised and I needed to verify my bank account and personal information.  I do not have an account at First national bank of ANYWHERE.  This the newest version of the email phishing scam.  Don't fall for it.  Do report to it to the FTC and the FCC as soon as possible.

Got a phishing call from this number and from 8018047064. Same garbled robotic voice asking for card number on each.

I received the same call on June 26, 2010 at 9:30am on my cell phone.  I just hung up because none of my banks or credit cards even have my cell number.

I received a call from this number saying my Visa debit card was cancelled.  I do not have a Visa debit card.  Obviously, this is some type of scam to get credit information.

Got a call on my retail business line asking if I accepted debit & credit cards.  Looked like a local number so I responded with a "yes".  Female caller said, "thanks, honey" and hung up as I was asking why they wanted to know this info.  These calls are really annoying, as I know they are not a customer.   Why do they want to know this info????

This phone number is listed in an ad for employment on Craigslist in the Charleston SC area.  I decided to find out who the number belonged to before calling. And glad that I did!

Received a call from this number today at 1:56 and heard woman talking and when I answered from our business, she hangs up.

Received a weird noise "blast" from the call and then a gruff woman asked me if I accepted credit card transactions.  When I responded to her, she hung up.

I keep getting calls from this number.  No message.  Caller ID identifies the number as belonging to Merchant Cooper.  Calls three to five times daily.  Very annoying.

If you are even THINKING of doing business with this company then please read this entire post!!!

I work for this company and I am just posting this to state that our company has been under a slander attack for years and as the company has grown and hired more people that were tech savvy we started to uncover this and are now fighting back.  If you have never experienced this in your life or business I pray you never do, it’s a nightmare and very hard to undo.  This attack has been done by one of our local competitors who we are now suing in a slander lawsuit.  As for legitimate complaints about our company you can contact us during normal business hours at 843-884-6884 and we will solve any legitimate problem.  We maintain an A+ rating at BBB online and only do that because we solve all legitimate complaints.  As with any company (or person for that matter) we are not a perfect company and we work inside of an industry (credit card processing) that is plagued with problems and lack of structure.  That being said we work hard every day to try and provide a higher level of service then the industry standard.  In fact a lot of the attacks we have suffered come from a company that we routinely take customers from in our local market after we expose their mis-leading pricing policies to the customer.  Another fact is that we only do that one-on-one with the customer and only on a factual, provable basis... not a slanderous one.  We don’t need to slander to gain customers.  The fact that we reply often to these complaint posts and offer an open invitation to discuss any real issues should show that.

I received a phone call from "Ashley" who asked if I was the owner of our business. When I said "No", she hung up the phone. Who are these people?

Regardless of the Firm's response above, they are a Telemarketing Company in Mount Pleasant S.C. and are violating the FCC's D.N.C. Law. They repeatedly call business phones to sell a credit card processing service. A live person attempts to schedule an appointment with your business, has poor telephone etiquette and is very pushy. To date this Company has called once a week on every business line. Recommend to call their Supv. in Charleston, SC at 843-270-7923 to have your number removed. ~ Like that's going to help ~
