Received today from this number that I needed to call their security department. They said my debit card was no longer active. NOT TRUE. It has to be a scam.

I got this call from the same number as the rest of you. I don't even have a Visa haha so I knew it was bull$#it... So I played a long.. punched in numbers 6969..repeating for every entry.. got to the final prompt and what do you know?  My card is now reactivated haha. So I also called the 800 number it gave to call.. rings twice then all you hear is a loud beeeeeeeeeeeep.

So I will never get screwed by a scam.. I've seen them all just about.. I called the local police though to make them aware and they said they could basically send a officer by but nothing really they could do besides note it unless they actually defrauded me.

    BEWARE of BS!

got the (843) 884-6884 scam call. 1st, the quality was totally horrible and you couldn't even understand the source. 2nd they start to ask for numbers that not even my REAL bank asks for.

Do we contact the FCC... sure! Although I seriously doubt they'll act quickly, and if they do it will be after they've investigated... I mean seriously... how hard is this to identify as a scam!

So, I decided to have a little fun. Now I know that you may get hung up on in the beginning of the message, but if you don't... enter in gibberish. Why? If for anything, you can pack their database with useless crap (assuming that what you enter goes into a database that these idiots will use later).

I entered in *'s and #'s and numbers at lengths not asked for (meaning 'please enter your 15 digit number' and I entered a 5 digit gibberish value, '4 digit pin' I entered a 10 digit smokescreen, etc...). The automated service then went to the extent to say 'validating your account' and actually gave me the thumbs up! Now I know you'd probably rather just hang up, but there was some satisfaction in playing the game too!

I received a call from this number stating that my debit card access was cancelled and I was given 800-391-8627 to call and enter 1 if I wanted access restored.   What can be done to  stop these calls?

Just received a cell call from 843-884-8664 on Sunday, April 11,2010.  Robot-like voice indicated my visa debit card was going to be cancelled and I needed to press #1 in order to correct the problem.  Sounds like a scam to get my personal info.  Luckily I did not reply.

I got the call on 4/12/2010, saying it was my Master Card debit card that needed to be re-activated. I've never had any type of Master Card.

Called all our company cell phones (14).  Thank goodness it was the company phones first.  Drivers knew that their banks did not have their company phone numbers, and did not respond.  Just reporting this hoping it will help somehow.

Woke me up with a cell phone call at 2:15 am last night with this same "debit card reactivation" message--called them back today and they (Merchant Cooperative) say someone else is using their caller ID, and it is being investigated by law enforcement. Maybe...?!

I just received this call at 10:08 am.  I did not call them back or dial the "1".  I immediately checked my bank account and it has not been compromised in any way.  Also, the message was garbled so I couldn't get the company who was calling.

    SCAM!!!!

I received this call this morning at 9:30 a.m. on my cell phone.  The recorded voice said my debit card had been canceled and to call another 800 number to speak with the security department.  I wasn't in a place to write the number down but I only have one debit card.  I called my bank later this morning and there was nothing wrong with my card.

I received a call from 843-884-6884.  It was a robo-call stating that my Visa card had be rejected and to call.....  I terminated the call at this point knowing it was a scam.  It is very disturbing to get these calls to my cell phone.  I hope they get shut down soon.

As of 04-19-10, I received the same call/RECORDING too w/ this number informing me my VISA  debit card is put on "hold"!!!  Didn't wait for an operator from "security" dept to inquire some more.  I think this call was a SCAM.
