This company somehow has gotten my wife's phone number, and all of her contacts and using her madden name has been harassing everyone and leaving a callback number that no one ever answers.

Call blocker might be of some help.  Also don't pick up on numbers you do not recognize, or where there are caller IDs that seem odd.  Or where there is no caller ID.

    Report them:

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection  (Threatening criminal prosecution to collect a civil debt is a clear violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Act)

Also contact your local attorney general

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

Total scam.  Most probably overseas.   Maybe Jamaica.  Block their calls and ignore them.  Never return their calls.

    Don't put on internet
DO NOT Engage with these folks!  They will continue to call back over and over once they know they have a real person.  They are phishing, scammers using any small piece of information they have found on the internet, social media, misc places and using trickery to get and scare people into wiring money.   SCAM.

SPOOF, Scam.   This "company" has used and just keeps changing the 844 numbers they call from.  Once you block one, they may stop for a while, then start from another.   Do not engage at all, once you do they know you are a real person and will continue to harass you until you go crazy.    They are not a real company, DO NOT GIVE THEM MONEY!!!

This number calls constantly to family members and when you try to call them back or hit zero, they play music and then goes to a busy signal.  When you call the number back it goes to a busy signal and then disconnects.

SCAM, not sure exactly what the SCAM is but after reading hundreds of posts...SCAM!   No legit company in the US can do this.   They are trying to connect you to overseas when you hit zero.   Always blocked these calls, but then family member received call after call to the point of annoying.   So I decided I'd hit ZERO next time too and kindly ask them to remove us from whatever list we/I am on, same thing...music then busy (20+ times, you can not call them back, same thing...as it is not a real number)  Goes busy each time, finally one time it connected to a company that would not identify themselves (1st sign of scam!).  When I insisted on the company name, they mumbled something you could not understand...HEAVY accent too!    When asked them again, they say they don't have to tell you.  LIE, they do have to tell you.   They did not know my first name, they would mumble it (although the kind recording they have sent hundreds of times did have my name robotic but correct).  I wish I would of seen these posts before talking with these people.  They are scammers of some type.  Have bought or otherwise have your name or some type of information about you from someone and fishing for additional information.  They hung up on me, when told them I am reporting them to FTC.    Tips I've seen online, ignore and block!

Beware, Beware:    I just read this from another number they use (844-279-7422).   This is not just a scam.  I fear now they have initially gotten my name from someone elses phone book on their phone, then they phish for information about you and use scare tactics to get you to give your cc information.   What I read on another site with complaints on this number:   They get your contact info from your smart phone and solicit people in your phone. The initial calls i got from this number stated they were looking for a family member . Then one day it suddenly changes to my name. Now, my family member is getting calls with my name. and the cycle will keep going until they hope to scare someone into forking over their cc information over the phone. Whatever you do don't call the number back. I got a busy signal each time, and realized that just buy calling the number they somehow get into my contacts.   Do research online before calling this number back or answering this or any calls you do not recognize, I have and now I fear that they have (if this is true) gotten my contact names.  Its a shame, just like the internet and SPAM email you have to worry now that maybe your elderly parent or family member will really think you are in trouble and give their personal information.
