Automated scam. There's supposedly a "formal complaint" about my step-daughter's mom. They use her maiden name, rather than her "new" one that's she's used for the past 6 years!?! I've blocked so many other "800" #s, it is insane! It's been happening for 3 years or so. IT DOESN'T MATTER if you call them back & tell them you have no clue where/who "that person" is & to take you off their calling list. OTHER EXCUSES (besides formal complaint): "this msg is solely intended for __"..they'll mention a claim #...disregard if it's not the person they were looking for. They've even gotten a hold of my husband's ex telling her she's won a cruise-using same # as when they called her about a formal complaint!?!

When I called them back and questioned them. They hung up on me. LOL

You need to understand you are being contacted by crooks.
These are phony debt collectors, the are calling to harass and scare you into paying a debt that never existed.  They KNOW they are breaking the law, and don't care.  The Do Not Call List will not stop crooks.

When you talk to them, and offer proof, evidence and toothless threats, they only will call you more.  They plan to wear you down.  It is how these crooks work.  To them, if you call back, you are a just a victim and will keep calling and calling.  The threats will be more and more insane.

Also, since you have answered calls, your phone number is shared with other crooks. Now you are getting the Vacation Cruise scam calls.

You need to ignore and block the calls.  Blocking may not work if when they call from new numbers, but you can try.
You need to have phone discipline.  Do not answer or return calls to unknown numbers and/or suspicious names.  Blocked names are a sign a scammer is calling.

From your post, I am worried your curiosity and anger will keep you answering. When you realize what you are doing, what assumptions you have are wrong, maybe you will give Ignore and Block a try.  I went from 3-5 calls a day to 3-5 in a month.

I get calls daily from this phone number and the call back message. they don't answer my questions as to who filed the complaint, they try to phish for info from me. they have a lot of old info, addresses, family names, etc...they called me one day 4 times within a 6hr time frame,  they now have found my daughters telephone number and are calling her looking for me. they now call my number asking if I know the wherebouts of myself.

Mark Wallace stated that he was looking for my mother in law because a formal complaint had been filed against her.  If I didn't call back he would notify the authorities.  I received the same message yesterday from 844-369-3850 I wasn't home.  When I returned the call to both numbers this evening no one answered and then I did some research!  Glad I did!  Scammers!

calling my family about an online payday loan. I have never taken a payday loan out before in my life I call and ask them why they are harassing me and my family and they wont give me an answer. SCAM!!!!!!

They called my mom and mom-in-law about 6 months ago looking for me. i called them back and they threatened to take me to court for defaulting on a payday loan...which I never took out. They started again a few days ago calling my mom's home and cell, as well as my husband's cell, then they called me. Was dealing with a Mr. Fenton Martin. He gave me his extension. Bad idea. I have been calling them relentlessly during my one hour lunch. Either leaving messages on Fenton's voicemail and eventually the main number. I had one person calling me stupid and asking me if I had kids, several hang up on me, and none of them would give me their physical address or tax-id. I finally got one to give me his whole name..if it's even real, Leon Reeve. It's gotten to the point where they have stopped asking me to verify my info. They know who I am. I told them I wouldn't stop calling them everyday on my lunch hour until they delete my info and stop calling my family and friends. I'm not being rude. Maybe a little sarcastic, but not raising my voice. Did a complaint with the FTC, but still having a little fun. Hoping they will eventually get the point and would love to see them send me to court (which I know they won't do because it's a scam) but it would still be fun.

I did the same thing, and they hung up! I tried to ask as many questions as I could before they hung up, but I didn't but get too far.
