- MeI'm not going to make fun of anyone. Please don't assume that just because you're calling a number that the person you're calling is who actually you are looking for. I have a very common last name. I am not going to give you my last four digits of my social security number or my date of birth. If you have that information then you give it to me and I will tell you whether that is mine or not. I am not going to assume somebody elses debt and I will not be putting up with harassing phone calls because you think you have the right person when you do not. Send me a letter and prove to me that it is my debt.

- Me replies to johnYou should call your local TV station and talk to their consumer advocate . They can help you get the correct authorities involved. What they are doing is criminal. You may be paying someone else's debt and not know it or they are just stealing your money.

- AwesomeSauce replies to KDupree| 1 replyYes, KDupree, they DO have a reason to call your 81-year old mom. Because they want to scam her. She is, by age alone, an excellent target for cheats, thieves, scammers and so forth. THAT is why.
To stop them, you need to file complaints with the FCC (877-382-4357) and to purchase a call blocker from a reliable big-box company such as Frys, Best Buy, etc.
800Notes is a forum, not a service that grants requests. So, follow your heart and help her the best you can. Education is also an option, as she may just need to be briefed on telephone scams, as often as once a week. Anything can--and will--help.
Best of luck. - CWG40 replies to KDupreeInvest in a call blocker and DO NOT pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.
Send them a cease and desist letter. This should be US mail, return receipt requested.

Also contact your local attorney general - Not My BillI started getting calls from these guys out of the blue one day around Thanksgiving. The man was looking for my ex-husband, who I haven't seen in nearly 15 years. I've been remarried now for 11 years. When I tried to explain this to him he started yelling at me to shut up and listen. I yelled back "Take my name off your list and don't call me again!" Then I hung up the phone. I immediately set up a call block on my phone for that number. Now I continuously get voice messages asking me to call them to settle MY debt. The message is a recorded message. I just delete them. It's obvious they're not going to stop calling. I have no idea how they got my number.

- H. StricklandCalled from Summit recievables saying I owed money to a previous creditor and I asked for them to send me the original documents from my loan and they didn't send them even though I asked for them twice. I contacted the original creditor and they told me they sold the account to a different company. These people call and threaten you that they will move your account forward for legal action and also have left messages after just 2 attempts saying that since you won't call them back that they will use legal action.

- GP925-357-9637 called. Left a pre-recorded message from Chelsea, Kelsey, or similar, saying they were glad to know I wanted to settle my debt. Of course, they don't mention what the debt is or whom they are actually trying to contact. They asked that I call 844-498-6545. They called themselves Summit Receivables and may actually be Summit Receivables because they did give the number for Summit Receivables that many are talking about in the 800notes messages about 844-498-6545.

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
You'll probably have to yell at them and talk over them.
You have to get tuff with these people because, being akin to thugs, brute force is (metaphorically speaking), the only thing they understand.
