I have received several similiar messages from "John Wilkes."   Since the number called is a senior supervisor's direct line in a county government office (and has been, for several years) - and the message makes no reference to the party who is supposedly being called - it seems pretty clear that this is a "robocall" working its way through a sequence of numbers rather than working with any list of "customers", "debtors," or "litigants."   I concur with the other posts that have noted that the service of legal documents never involves calls of this type (I have been a lawyer for over 30 years), and so this is clearly a "scam" of some sort, rather than just a persistent debt collector with a "bad" phone number.    

Called me on 7/24/2014 threatening me with legal action. I called back and this man was looking for someone else when i told  him that I am an attorney.

Also had missed calls from this number repeatedly over a week or so. I could call back from my cell, which I did but hung up when their system answered and asked me to hold for a rep, but calling from my office land line it wouldn't even go through. Weird.

I had two back to back missed calls from this number.  I called back and the guy who answered mummbled and I could barely hear him. I asked what company this was and he said ES CCA, I asked what they did and he would not tell me.  He kept pushing me for my name and the phone number I had received the missed calls.  I told him I would not give him any information until he told me what kind of a business this was, he refused but immediately said this was not a sales call or a solicitation, but could not give me any more  information until I gave him my information.... Yeah ok that's not happening.  He sounded incredibly shady and I know for a fact that I do not owe money to anyone.  I hung up immediately and then started reading all of these comments.  I have blocked the number.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

They call asking for my last 4 of my social saying its personal matter but won't say what

This guy has been calling since July... i always respond and say I can't speak english. He calls back anyways saying he needs me to give him payment info. I wonder if he's bored yet damn scammed

I keep getting harassed by this phone number 844-704-8326. Said it was a debt from a bank HSBC. I have never had a credit card in my life. They could not provide proof of the debt. They were VERY nasty to me and they were harassing my friends and family. How the hell did they get these numbers!?? The guys name was "James Matthews". I asked to speak to a manager he said he was the manager. I said so you run the WHOLE place. He said yes, do you not understand English. That's when I snapped...

You should look into getting a call blocker then-we can't do anything

Foolish SCAM caller making bogus claims about money owed. I always pay cash for everything (including my cars) except for my house payment. I would like to beat these idiots to within an inch of their lives.
