If you are getting calls from (847) 488-3003 (Chase bank Bill Collector"s) do this:

    (1) Call a telehone number that you know will give a pre-recorded message such as "This number is no longer valid or is out of service. Please check the number and dial again".

    (2) Get a tape recorded or similar device and record the above message. Don't try to record such a message using your own voice. There is something about those pre-recorded mesages that make 'em appear more legitimate.

    (3) Next time Chase bank Bill Collectors call you bank, as soon as you get an agent, play your recording "This number is no longer valid or is out of service. Please check the number and dial again". After 2-3 attempts, they will stop calling you. At least for a few months anyway. Repeat as neccessary!!

I get calls from this number constantly. If it is Chase I have no idea why they are calling me because my account is in good standing. They NEVER leave a message  which always makes me suspicious.

I agree, Chase will not ask you any information, in fact I called them once to change my mailing address and did not have my card on me, they would not let me do anything without having my full card #, I had my social, all other info etc but they said that due to security measures they would not let me make any changes nor acknowledge that i even had an account without me giving my full account number. I was annoyed at the time but really I guess it is a good thing.

I think that these people are banking on the fact that a lot of people are behind on credit card payments(which lets face it  they - I am ) Chase is a common bank, what a simple scam

Get about 3 calls a day from them. I do owe back payments. However, when I have no money, there is no reason for me to answer. Just today I got a call from this number, I didn't answer and ended the call, then got a call from a local number that when called back gives the message "this number is no longer in service" or whatever. This has happened close to ten times in past week. A total of six different numbers from my area code but different cities and all when called give the message "this number is no longer in service". I believe Chase collections is involved in some shady practices using an auto-dialer and somehow numbers that are disconnected. I have looked up each number and all have given names and addresses of individuals I do not know. Is this illegal and should I call a lawyer?

No it's not Chase... They used a 4077710887 number on me ( I do not have a chase acct) and I filed a police harrassment report then they started calling from this number... After 5 days of them calling every 2 hours Icalled back and said I was from chase fraud sept. and they hung up...  they're "automated" system is totally transparent and chase would never ask fir your 16 digit card number or social security number.... I'd be worried if you gave them info

Chase doesn't ask for your full social so it's not them.

Caller ID said Chase USA---they were looking for someone who worked here 4-5 years ago. I informed them, yet again, that this person does not work for the company. Research on "Chase USA" turned up Chase Fraud Dept., therefore they could be legitimate. Sometimes they call about suspicious charges on your card.

Unfortunately, the scammers make it really hard to tell who is for real and who is a thief. Caller ID is very easy to spoof so you have no way of knowing who you're actually talking to. Never give out information if you have even the slightest doubt. Call the numbers on your card or statement or the bank's web site in order to verify account problems. The real bank will understand that you want to be careful.

    Also:

This company has been using the bank name similarity to imply that they are credible as collectors but beware:

Yes, this is Chase Collections.   100% sure.   I owed them a lot of money and they will hunt you down.  They were calling my work's outside line # which unfortunately for me was ringing on my boss' desk twice a day!     I couldn't figure out how they got that # but then I figured I must have used that line once or twice to check my acct balance and their computers saved the phone #.    How's that for Big Brother!   Anyway they will not stop harassing you for their money and even went so far as to get their law firm collection agency start contacting me.  (I owed them $8K)      I finally filed for bankruptcy and talked to one of the lawyers and gave them my attorney's info and hopefully that will be the end of it until the BK part of it......    Anyway the point is this phone # is definitely Chase Collections Dept.   Good luck to all with these persistent [***].

It's not Chase. First, they said the wrong name on the message they left me, and I don't even have a credit card with Chase. Only a checking account.
