- Lanesq replies to billThat guys voice was pretty creepy.
I've never had a call like that before. but if they keep calling, - EmilyI filled out a couple of online college course applications. I tried not to put my phone number down knowing they would of course call, but the application to receive a brochure insists you enter a phone number so of course I did ... BIG mistake! They have called me 4 times in the last 45 min! All I wanted was a paper brochure in the mail not some annoying and harassing phone calls about admissions! To make matters worse, they get all the way to your voice mail and then dont leave a message ANNOYING!!!

- KateI filled out an online application about my interest in getting my Master's Degree online and all of a sudden I started getting a COPIOUS amount of phone calls from different people who wanted to "assist" me in finding the right schools and get me in touch with the academic advisors of said schools. Allllllll because I was somewhat interested. ANYWAY, 847-783-8966 was one of those numbers. I called the number back and asked to be taken off the list and the lady took me right off. No questions asked or pressure to be kept on. At first, she answered with "AIU University", but she also asked, when I requested to be removed, if I was getting many calls from other universities as well and I said that I was. She said that if they CONTINUE to call and I don't WANT them to, all I need to do is just ask to be removed from THEIR lists as well. So, with that being said, I'm GUESSING (not sure) that this number might be some sort of switchboard number that goes to a company that represents a few different universities. The company will help people figure out which university might be more conducive to them, send them information TO the person, and then get them in contact with an advisor of the univeristy. Depending on who picks up the phone, you might get someone in this company who is representing a particular university (AIU, DiVry, etc.). They can probably transfer you to different areas like a regular switchboard operator. That's just my guess. Of course, I could be completely wrong and this could all be a scam and calling them back to be taken off their list might've just cost me my savings account. I'll write back and let you know if that's the case ;-) har har, cross your fingers.

- American Intercont University IS A JOKEWith the economy in the dumpster online universities are desperate for business. American Intercontinental University is a bogus college that prospective employers laugh at. AIU admits anyone with cash, even if they are high school drop outs. Enrollment is so bad, they closed down the campuses in Los Angeles. AIU has tried to sell it's other colleges but no one was stupid enough to buy them. If you care to read more about this [***] school, check out Wikipedia:

- KI used to work for AIU (actually, we are employed by a staffing agency so technically we dont work for them haha) and it was HORRIBLE. I stayed because the pay was great, but I'm not fond of making people angry or upset.
This school is a scam and it's going downhill quick, trust me.
The people who are calling you work in the "IRC" aka Inquiry Response Center aka telecommunications. They never call it that, though, because that would be "unprofessional" (as if calling people three times and hour isn't).
The best way to deal with them is to say you are the person requesting the information (even if you are not) and ask to be taken off the INTERNATIONAL DO NOT CALL LIST. If you ask to be taken off their list, they will not do it because...well, they are told not to.
Other than that your best bet is to just get the number blocked.
I actually quit after I called a woman who had passed away and her husband answered the phone very upset (he didnt sound angry) and told me that he had asked other people to take him off the list and they hadn't. I felt terrible. Who does that to someone?! I don't care if it makes your numbers go down, have some respect.
Anyway, I'm rambling. Hope my tips helped a bit! Feel free to email me with any questions or what not

- W.T.I've gotten at least two calls from these clowns TODAY (Saturday), and the second time I picked it up on reflex. They're still asking for a "Cris" and asking if there's a better number with which to gt ahold of him. I said I didn't even know who he was, and that I was pretty sure I was being scammed. She quickly apologized and hung up.
