caller states florida call and when you try to call number back states no longer in service and they do not leave any message

Confirming the same case as listed in previous posts. Call received at: Dec 6, 11:10am EST.

Just got the same Account Services call.  Told them last time to remove me.  Told them this time and <surprise!> she hung up.

Went directly to http://www.donotcall.gov and reported it.  Under number I used this one and name I used Account Services.  It's nice that they are using a number that when you call back it's disconnected.  Now there's a practice I wish was illegal.  Talk about intentionally misleading....

Same call about ten minutes ago, thought it may be a friend or family from FL but didn't recognize the # so I didn't answer. They didn't leave a message so I went to whitepages.com, reverse phone search said it was a landline in Lynn Haven so I googled it and found all you lovely people that they are trying to scam, more than likely into identity theft.

A 106 trillion dollar war and we can't protect the people in our own country from lowlifes like this.

Got to Love America and our politicians LOL ;-)

I recommend not answering and not waisting long distance to apparently find out it's a hacked disconected #.

I got the same call saying they could lower my credit card rate but didn't say which card - I pushed one and was on hold until call quit.  I called back and I too got number no longer in service.  How do we block these calls?

850-271-8240 called me as well but I was on the other line and didn't answer.

Recorded message asking if I wanted to lower my credit card rate to 6%. Pressing one put me in touch with operator who said the company was Consumer Services. I asked what credit card this was in reference to and man on other end replied with a list of Credit Card companies that it could be from. Told them I was on the do not call list and got rude with me saying didn't you press #1 and continues to tell me he didn't like my attitude as I told him he was rude and hung up on him.

Got two calls from this number.  Got a recording saying they could lower the interest rate of my credit cards. I felt it has to be a scam.  I hung up.  Three days later another recorded call same message from the same number in Lynn Haven, Fl. (per caller ID).  Knowing it was a scam, I decided to talk with them, so I pushed #1 and got a female, do not recall her name.  "Are you calling to find out how to reduce your credit card interest?" she asked.  "Yes." I replied. "How much do you owe on your credit card?" she retorted. "Six Thousand dollars," I responded. "Do you have any other cards that are not maxed out?" she asked.  "Yes, three others." I said.  "And what is your last name?" she asked.  "What outfit are you with?" I asked her.  She immediately hung up.  I did not hang up until I heard the dial tone.  My strategy in dealing with these scammers is to keep them on the telephone as long as I possibly can since it does no good to report them, and their automatic dialers are very expensive to operate.  I want them to be totally inconvenienced.  Since I am retired, it is really very entertaining for me, and, I hope, quite expensive for them.

OF CORSE I was taking a shower, did'nt bring the phone in the can & I hear it! ARGH! After all that, it was a hang up. I thiught it woulda been my Aunt but noooooo....I had a hunch it was a CC company. We're on the do not call list but there's ALWAYS those few clods who manage to butt in.

I can't spell :-( 1-850-271-8240 interrupted my nice warm shower. I THOUGHT it was my Aunt as I left her a message. But noooo. As I say: we're on the do not call list but they always manage to poke in.

Call from this number at 6:40 this evening - didn't recognize the number or name (Suzanna Smiley) so ignored call & let it go to voice mail - no message was left ...

Got a call from this number on Saturday morning tell me my car warranty was about to expire.  When I hit '1' to speak to a live person, I started to say that I wanted to be removed from the list and he hung up on me.  Calling the number tells me that it's been disconnected.

Most of these "Your car warranty is about to expire" calls are randomly dialed and prerecorded and very illegal.  Unauthorized prerecorded telemarketing calls are prohibited by the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).  If you never gave the OK to receive such calls or have never done business with the telemarketer, then the calls are illegal.  

I used to be deluged with these calls and reported each one to the FCC, which enforces the TCPA.  A few weeks after I reported the calls to the FCC, the calls stopped.

Same thing - got a voice mail, caller ID says "New Haven, FL," number disconnected.

This is so frustrating. I wish there was something that could be done.

Got a call from 850-271-8240 on 12/8/07 while we were out of town.  Didn't leave a voice mail.  Had to Google the number to get me to this website, and see what the call was about.  The strange thing is...we live in Columbus, Ohio.  Sounds like a call we're glad we weren't home for.

This is not the first time. They obviously are after your credit card number to possibly commit fraud.

message left on my voice mail started before the service picked up.  left no name and no number to call.   i'm really pissed at these companies that call me.  i'll never do business with a telemarketer.  what happened to the do not call list???? why isn't it enforced???????

The person said "This is Heather" from account services and something about lowering my interest rate.  However gave no bank name, company name, etc., so I figured bogus.  Yet I was curious so googled the number and found this site which confirmed my suspicions.  I also am on the do not call list
