- Randy Hornerthese ppl keep calling wanting to have control of my computer to fix a problem that doesnt exist so they can charge me for it.
- carol replies to darlene| 4 repliesSAME thing here...only I played along for a bit..acting as if I were elderly and confused. He told me to type various commands and then spelled out an obscene phrase...I feigned shock and then he started to talk very filthy to me. Why can't we do something about these horrid calls?
- VivianeI leave the phone on and walk away and let the fool carry on. I WOULD NOT recommend you do this in case you get a pay call, in which case you could be charged hundreds of dollars. No one has asked the question and it should be asked: How do businesses get an 800 number. If that's the case, we should all be calling the 800 service or a corporation that oversees the allocation of an 800 service number (free calls) and have it removed from their customer list. There must be something at government level to block these harassing offshore companies.
- Caller: MicroTech
- RatFinkGot the same call as others, but he knew my first name! Kinda threw me, then in a soft voice he began asking if my computer was slow. I responded "No", and he says you have a virus. I run Mac computers, so I knew he was fake. But he must have some sort of snooping software for him to know my first name. With all the government spying, who knows what is real these days. I'm also on the "do not call list" - which doesn't seem to work as proposed.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Patriot327It is a call like this one (which has a very familiar MO) that made me decide never to answer my phone, again, if the phone number is unfamiliar or unidentified (thank God for caller ID). Fortunately, I worked in the business as a techie, so I knew it was a scam. What about the unsuspecting individuals, especially seniors, who fall for this stuff? My call, from this number, was received 5/19/14 at 11:59AM, EDT with a CID of Unavailable. Thus far, it's the only time from this number. However, I've received no less than 10 calls from other numbers with the same "let me help you get rid of the virus on your computer" scam.
- Caller: Scammer
- AnnoyedDefinitely a scammer of some sort. Has called numerous times and not left a message. Would be nice if the Do Not Reply List worked after informing them of these unwanted calls. Is the Do Not Reply website a scam too?
- Jamey replies to BillListen up, goat boy. I don't know what the heck you are doing here, but you sound pretty freaking stupid from what I can tell.
- Bob| 1 replyGot the same call . he told me to turn on my computer. I asked for his credit card number so that I could charge him $100.00 before I let him do anything....Hang Up!
- JohnThis guy just called and said he was from Microsoft and my computer was sending out a bad virus. He had strong Indian accent and was obviously reading from script. When I told him I didn't own a PC and that my computer was in fact a Macintosh, he became upset and started yelling. Scary thing is: This guy had my home address, my phone number, and last name.
- Caller: Microsoft
- Call type: Prank
- DWI'm an IT guy. I LOVE these calls! I jack with them big time. Waste a bunch of their time. Ask questions, play dumb, act like I'm doing what they want me to do when I'm not. Last time I wasted about 10 or 15 minutes of the guys time. LOL! Now that I know what this is, I'll make sure I answer it next time!
- DW replies to BobI LOVE IT! I may try that!
- NellCaught me out gardening. I offered to sell him an igloo in Alaska. Guess he wasn't interested.
- Caller: 855-210-3300
- DavidLooked up MicroTech, there is such a company in California, but it makes disc duplicating systems. Doubt they're worried about a virus on my computers!!!
- IrvingbobYesterday and today - received a call from 855-210-3300. They asked for me by name, so they have my phone listing correct. Both times claimed my computer was infected. Total scam.
- Caller: Unkonw
- WhatsAMattaUSame as above
- Caller: Toll Free Call
- Jeff| 1 replyI just got this call also from a man who claimed to from Microsoft and that I have a Trojan virus and needed to gain access to my computer.... bad liar horrible person preparing to undoubtedly take advantage of the old or less computer knowledgeable folks that don't know MS wont call you and ask to get in your computer
- Caller: He said Microsoft
- ronmoorecalled these guys, spoke to a ricky sylvester, they tried relentlessly to get me to go to ammyy.com, support.me and showmypc.com to have me click on something on my computer to run. I was way to smart for that, didn't do a damn thing. these guys tried to tell me they had control of my pc, I told them they were a scam. they got mad and told me they work for Obama and hung up on me.
- irvingbobReceived a call from this number three days in a row last week. I listened one time and a heavy dialect asked for me by name (I am listed in the phone book, so my name is not hard to find) and proceeded to tell me that my computer was infected and they needed to clear it up. No calls Sunday - Tuesday. Phone call this morning from this number and I thought I might string them along. I answered but nobody said anything. So, I laid the phone down. The call disconnected after about 4 minutes.
- Caller: Unknow
- DKP| 1 replyJust got a call from the same as all the above. He started in on his spiel about being with Microsoft and errors from my computer. . . . . I cut him off and told him my calls went through my computer and it showed that his computer has a virus that I could fix if he would let me connect to it. LOOOOONNNGGGGG Pause.
- Caller: Some accented yabo
- Badge714 replies to DKPDKP: Beautiful! Everyone should say that when the Asia-repair man calls.
